My Diary

Way to go on the fudge. Glad it was a success and the office party as well.

Today is my day to make treats for the Christmas party tomorrow at school, so I'll be baking too. We are making sugar free no bake cookies, sugar free cooca mix and puppy chow...:D Gotta love the puppy chow!!

Thanks Sheri - I'm not sure I'm familiar with puppy chow...?

Good job on the fudge Stingo! You are one determined cookie...haha pun intended ;)
I'm also inspired by your cooking! I never feel like i have time or patience enough to cook with my kids around. they end up helping and it ends up taking twice as long..which puts my meal off way too long for my liking :) But ask anyone, patience is NOT my strong suit :) Someday if I get organized enough I can try out some of your great recipes on the weekends when time is more relaxed. Great job on workouts too!!

Thanks sparrow - coming from a pretty determined gal herself, that's quite a compliment. It's not often I do something but when I do I am determined to do it.

As for the cooking, why not schedule one day of the weekend as a kid's day and use it to teach some simple cooking techniques. That way you'll eventually have your own staff of sous chefs at your disposal, not to mention the fact they'll be able to cook healthy meals for themselves. Take the other day as your day for being creative in the kitchen and make whatever you like.

Cooking Partner

Don't know if anyone would be interested or how it'd work (transferring photos of process and the finished product I'd guess) but a cooking partner sounds like a good idea. The basic idea would be to make the same thing on the same day then compare results/technique etc. Feel free to respond here on this thread or shoot me a pm.

Puppy Chow - Chex mix cereal, chocolate chips, pb, butter and powdered sugar

On the stove, melt cereal, chocolate chips, pb and butter. In a bag, sift the powedered sugar. When the stuff is melted, pour over cereal and coat the cereal and pour the mixture in the powdered sugar and shake until all covered.

Of course we taste tested the stuff we made, plus there was some cookies made we snacked on during the day. I'm not hungry but gotta make something for Greene. Thinking homemade pizza. It's easy and doesn't cost as much at Pizza Hut plus less grease too!!

Workout 12/19

Spinning - had a sub instructor come in and teach the class. She was good, but we love our usual spinning instructor (who should teach thursday's class then be off for a week).

Received a very nice coat from LL Bean today... size was XL and it FIT :) This was the first item of clothing that I'd gotten from a regular store (as opposed to a big and tall store) in YEARS. So I was very pleased - still am actually :).

That's so exciting!! way to go:D

I'd love to, but no one else gona help me finish it. ... ... :(

Plastic containers in the freezer are your friend :) You can freeze it (or refrigerate it) and have it for the week. Just nuke and go. My lunch (sitting right here next to me) is in just such a container - the (in)famous chicken with black beans, corn, salsa and (nonfat) cream cheese, heated up and ready to eat.

I was thinking about skipping gym tonight because it is freakin cold here! :p ya ya it is not snowing, but I am in CA. Anyway, was browsing Diary while contemplating... and there you are with your workouts. Talk about motivation... See ya, I'm off to gym! :D

Following the food plan

Well after a period of directionless (i.e. non-food plan) eating I've had a couple of good days again. That and the workouts have contributed to a more even keel which is more than welcome. I'm hoping to drop down to my pre-tday weight but that remains to be seen.

Workout 12/21

Yoga - good class - seemed more intense than what we typically do, but was a good workout.

Spinning - last spinning class of the year with our regular instructor, as she's taking the week between Christmas and New Year's off.
