Spinning - the last spin class before the 2 hr ride

Whoo hoo!:D

Just wanted to pop in and say "HI STINGO!" You are doing so awesome on your working out! Happy Turkey day! (to everyone also :) )

Workout 11/24

Spinning - Black Friday 2 hour ride

I did it - my first 2 hour ride! I'd rested since Tuesday for it so I think that was a big factor in my making it through. Actually the regular spinning class is more intense with higher heart rates. The only time I had a real problem was when we did the sprints in the middle (about an hour in), but I kept on going. Now I know this is something I'd never have been able to do in January (when I started spinning) so I must be doing something right. I feel energized too - something I almost didn't expect. At any rate, happy here for having accomplished another goal (and burned off some of the food and wine from yesterday :)).

That it was - did the family thing... Was my job to bring the wine, which I did, and it was enjoyed by those who partook. :)

The Art of Eating Well

I try to treat myself to one freshly cooked meal a week, to remind myself that life's not all about nuking little plastic containers. Tonight's bill of fare was entirely delicious - shrimp fra diavolo over barilla plus pasta with an italian salad with tomatoes and freshly ground pepper. I chose a 2003 Cavit Pinot Grigio to accompany this tasty repast as that happened to be in the fridge at the time, and the results were superb. The tastebuds were very happy tonight, even though some impatience caused me to take the shrimp off the stove before they were ready (a mistake easily recovered from). This second attempt I think was closer to the original intent of the recipe as the flavors were less saucy and more crisp and pungent - not necessarily better or worse, just different. Working out and living a healthier lifestyle has made me appreciate food and such more - am hoping to get more into it as my cooking skills improve.

Sounds great stingo! We just pruchased a new set of flatware and a new knife set. I can't wait until my kitchen is done!

The Art of Eating Well, Part II

Ok so I lied lol - made another freshly cooked dinner, this also a repeat performance - of the Vegetable Biryani. I'm pretty sure I followed the same procedure as last time but I think when I put in the garam masala I put in 2 tablespoons rather than 2 teaspoons (which would explain why the spices were so overpowering lol). This edition is a much better blending of flavors with a hint of spice/heat from the garam masala and red pepper. Very enjoyable (though I did not have wine tonight - gotta watch somewhere) and I kept my portion size to what it should be.

Great Job on the 2 hour spin class!! Also, love the shrimp dish w/ the wine! You totally put a great picture of a nice, relaxing dinner in my head!!

Thanks Shellsy, yes that's pretty much what it was - a chance to sit back and relax, sip some wine and really savor the dinner. There's a lot to be said for the Slow Food movement to be sure. :)
