My legs hurt again.

I was in too much pain yesterday so I took an extra day of rest. Tonight headed up the hill to Gawler. It was tough because I was still feeling sore in my quads but made it up slowly to the top of Uley road then through the hills to Gawler.

The whole way I couldn’t help but concentrate on the rough bumpy ride and thought my tyres must be flat. I pushed on to Gawler and checked. Not flat but certainly not as full as they should be. A little ride around Gawler with some sight seeing and down the Stuart Ogrady bikeway home. This is where it got silly. I had planned on a nice easy spin home along the flat bikeway but nooooo I had to push it. Not sprinting but definitely pushing the power through the pedals.

Anyway got home and I’ve got to feed the dog and wash the bike then off to bed. A450797C-777A-4B44-9A36-4B5D375D8326.png

Strangely I woke up feeling really good today. I’ve just noticed that my legs don’t hurt ...

No ride tonight. Work held me up too long however I’ve planned my weekend ride. It’s going to be a 100km ride to Brighton Jetty and back. I’ll take it easy tomorrow and Saturday in preparation for Sunday.

Looking forward to it!

Just got back from a good ride. It was supposed to be a short <20km ride but I got a bit carried away. The time includes a 7minute phone call and a 10 minute break for a Gatorade and protein bar.

Bike is washed and ready for work tomorrow. Think I’ll take the dog for a short walk then off to bed. FEA43946-5701-472B-B56E-4C766DC8ABC0.png

You do like to challenge yourself :)
Is there an event happening at the jetty?

I do yes

No event this week. Next week we’re going to a restaurant close to the jetty for my Fathers 77th and I want to ride there. Sunday will just be a test run time wise. (Weather permitting).

Interesting start to the day today. Rode 22km to work (volunteer in an op shop on Saturday mornings). Forgot to re lube my chain after washing it last night so it drove me nuts the whole way. Pulled up out the front of the shop and realised I forgot my keys so can’t get in (I’m the only one with keys on a Saturday too)

Good news. Boss lady lives 10 mins away so she came down to let me in. Bought her a coffee for the trouble.

Ride home went well. Just a bit windy. Of course it was a head wind too.

I’m feeling very low now. Lots of energy spent and all I’ve had so far to eat is 2 black coffees, a muffin and a biscuit. Time for a proper meal.

On the upside that’s 45 kms done already so all I have to do today is sit around with my dad and play with my dog so I’m looking forward to this evening AND its a long weekend!

Well my long ride today isn’t happening. It’s raining. Not much; just enough to be annoying. Think I’ll go do my grocery shopping on the bike though.

My partner has been sick with a head cold for the last week so I haven’t seen her (staying well away so I don’t pick it up and pass it onto my father on a visit (going through chemo so he has no immune system). Unfortunately my partners dog has some very special needs so she hasn’t been able to relax and recover. I’d have her dog home with me but my dog also has very special needs and the two together will end in disaster.

Anyway long story short last night I took her dog for a long walk and play so that she could catch up on rest. We went to Port Adelaide and strolled around the docks then to Largs bay and played around on the beach. All up 4 hours of walking and playing so got a bit of exercise in that way. Also did two trips to the supermarket on the bike yesterday (only 3km away so not exactly a long hike).

Today looked like such a beautiful day so I donned the cycling kit to set out on a long ride to Brighton jetty (first stoping at McDonalds of all places for breakfast). On the way though I realised I hadn’t checked my tyre pressures and I didn’t want to get caught out so instead I headed to Gawler again. I wish I’d used my speedo because I was flying up the road. Took to the trip with an all out sprint. It would be interesting to know just how fast I was going.

Anyway pretty uneventful except for nearly stacking it when I hit a GIANT pot hole right at the end of the bike way just where it crosses the highway! Another 50km in the bag.

My bike is now sparkling clean and sitting in the sun drying before I re lube the chain again.

This morning I stepped on the scales ... 84.9, then it ticked over the 85.1

Oh and I wore my padded cycling shorts for the first time in a while today ... they’re now too big EXCEPT the elastic band on the bottom of the legs. They’re too small! My quads must have grown significantly because they were cutting off the circulation!

This is a good problem to have!

Good ride!

I’d been not really looking forward to today’s ride but I summoned the courage, donned my riding kit and set off. As I bent over to pump the tyres up I noticed the wind ... 25km/h and I was heading up the hill .

Anyway I set off and sure enough it was a head wind all the way up. I must be getting better at climbing though. I felt slow and I expected nothing less considering the wind but got to the top at 19km/h average! A quick 1 minute stop for a drink and speedo check and up through the rolling hills to Gawler. Surprisingly good ride considering the wind was now blowing straight across me, into rhe Town, out of the town and straight onto the Stuart Ogrady bikeway where a lovely tail wind was waiting for me.

Made it home only having to stop at one set of lights (for less than 20 seconds) and with only one stupid driver yelling as he went past trying to scare me off the bike. It did startle me because I wasn’t expecting it. Funnily enough he wasn’t brave enough to stop and have a chat about his behaviour when I invited him to.

Anyway got home, wiped the bike down and now I have to go to the shops for some milk for my breakfast. 3FE0D6B3-B6E4-4403-B76E-33E7E79B1B9B.png305033EB-0AC2-4EBF-9BD8-B764EC9D58FA.png

Of course he wasn't brave enough! Isn't that always how it goes? Lol
