Milestones (Amy's diary)

Short update: my laptop conked out completely twice yesterday, and (less dramatically - ie I was able to reboot) twice already today. If I suddenly go silent for a few days, I haven't succumbed to anything, I've just taken myself and this machine to a repair shop! :D (Very inconvenient timing, though!)

Oh dear--i hope your laptop holds up ok!

Amy I always use apple support if I ever have a problem. My daughter has a mac book and we used the helpline twice. Hope you get sorted with it .

Thanks, Petal! It's been terrible today - just blacking out at decreasing intervals. It's past bedtime now, but tomorrow I'll look into that.

Hope you get it sorted soon Amy . Have you an iPad or smartphone so you can stay in touch on the off chance it is not repaired quickly

I've had a good night's sleep, thanks, liza - eleven-thirty to six! :) And yesterday I dropped by the market and came back with a bundle of mint to plant, and a bundle of chives and two pumpkin seedlings! I can't account for how rosemary transmuted into pumpkin, but so it is!

I've mentioned before that coronavirus has curtailed my morning exercise group attendance - it's also going to cut back on walks out and about, apart from pretty locally, i.e. no good long walks outside, or even on the outskirts of, the city. Plus (joke's on me!) I just this weekend hit my first target - for which the reward was to have been a stay at a place with a swimming pool and bushwalks - and thanks to coronavirus I can't go! Oh, what a swizz! Or maybe not, because I only hit that target thanks to going on a (supposedly) four-day challenge with Nelly - so it was not sustainable eating at all, it was eating very lightly, with the only sweet things apart from fruit being two rice crackers that have an added lick of sugar. (Which shows that for me, eschewing sugar might be the way to go?)

Computer news: it turns out that the problem is with the solid state drive, which might need replacing (maybe a serious internal clean?). To be investigated tomorr

found the above bit sitting in the "reply" box when I opened up! That was the point where the machine conked out. :D Today, to add to that

Thanks, Petal, for the tip. (No, I don't have a smartphone, but I can "borrow" access to someone else's computer.) I did go to Apple Support, and got some improvement, but there’s something wrong with the solid state drive, so I’ll haul it to the repair people anyway. (And will they be open? I hope so!)

Still laughing about how karma got me! that thanks to @Nelly's challenge in the 170s Club, I made it to the first of my restart goals – to break 170 – and thus was “entitled” to the planned reward – a trip to a place with a swimming pool and a forest walk - and now because of coronavirus, I can't go!:smilielol5:

I’m totally expecting that tomorrow morning I’ll be back over 170, especially if I drop in to the patisserie near the repair shop. But that'll be all right - I've shown myself I can go down, and if I see-saw up and down for a bit - well, we will get there - heaven knows how, but we'll get there! :)

lovely! Chives are one of my favorites. Someone also introduced me to garlic chives a couple of years back and they are another favorite of mine.
I spent a nice bit of time in my garden today. Ah what therapy :) I'm sure your mint will be a nice treat too. Does your pumpkin have lots of room to spread?

Really too bad about you not being able to take on that reward--can you think of another reward to replace it or will you just wait til this coronavirus has finished and take an extra long reward...i think we'll all need to have some sort of party once it's all done!

Nice work on the 160's. Hopefully it'll stick, but yes, even if it doesn't it is somehow important to just see that it is possible to get there. Lets the mind open to that possibility :)

You´ll savor that reward all the more when you do get to have it. The universe must have objected to you veering off course by undereating to make a goal :)

Thanks, Cate! It's half-fixed, and was good for quite a while today - I delayed the visit to the repair shop, and I'm currently humouring it along, hoping to get the new software installed without drama.

Thanks, Liza! The mint is looking cheerful, but the chives and the coriander (which I forgot to mention earlier) don't ... well, we'll see. As for the pumpkin, it's got just a pot to grow in, but that's in a tiled yard, about three metres across each way? or three by four, maybe? But it can't have all that room, because that's the way into the house, and also sometimes has to fit in a visitor's motorbike.

Thanks, Petal! I'm not too sure that I can keep it up - but I hope not to wobble too far away. :)

I'm not sure exactly when or if I'll get that reward, LaMa! As if things weren't in upheaval enough already, suddenly more disruptions came through work email today. And as for...

I had no idea the rules were so strict! :p

Hi, Amy. The chives may look a bit bedraggled, but if they continue that way, just snip them off & they will come back. Coriander I find grows better from seed.
I must read up on these rules of the universe.......

Hey Amy, just trying to catch up with people, I see I am far behind with you.

Hope you can keep the computer going, this place would not be the same without you.
