Milestones (Amy's diary)

Thanks for the tips, Cate! I hope this little herb-garden has the chance to benefit from them! Why should there be any doubt? you might ask. Well, the universe is continuing to play bait-and-switch with me - right after I had settled to the extent of planting a pumpkin, I got an unsettling email, suggesting I might be uprooted, ie repatriated - not that I need it or want it, but... coronavirus! :flame: But nothing's certain, and it's just a matter of wait and see. (sigh!)

Good to see you Rob! :seeya: I mean to see you here, catching up with what's going on with me. Lots, is the answer!
As for the laptop - it's frail, and isn't liking being asked to keep more than two - or at the most, three - tabs open at once, but so far, so good.

Oh boy that's tough Amy. More uncertainty!

Glad the laptop is behaving!

Urgh, uncertainty... And a bit of arrogance as well (not from you!): as if any specific country is doing better handling this thing than the others and can keep its citizens safe by bringing them "home".

Amy I hope things settle down for you . I don't know where you live but it always sounded like you are at home there . Do you need to move or can you opt to stay ?

A very good point, LaMa. The Aus government is way behind & is very arrogant!

My government has declared a Level 4 travel "advice". Travel in and out of Australia heavily curtailed. The embassy here - everywhere, I suppose - being cut to skeleton staff. Staffed aid programs put on hold. And way down the line, me. :)
It's looking like I'll have to move - have to be out by the 30th. Cue: sorting, packing, trying to get on top of this afternoon's meeting, fretting, uncertain... will it be worth lugging a 5-kilo bag of rice to Australia? Hand sanitiser? I mean, I've got it here, but should I get extra?

The pumpkin will have to look after itself!

Oh boy Amy. Hope you can find some peace among the chaos.
Do you have a flight booked? Do you have a home to go to once you get back to Australia?
Hand sanitiser is always good if you can get some.

I think Cate can pinpoint if you need to take both those items but I can tell you hand sanitiser is a rare commodity for us in Ireland now and right now rice is in short supply. I have about 2kg which 3 of us will eat but it's been kept for only curries .
Amy I am sorry you have to move . I hope you have a base to return too and your job. Thinking of you at this impossible time

By the 30th? It´s the 18th here today: no way anyone can look that far into the future right now. Things are changing wayyy faster than that.

Oh Amy, I'm sorry to hear that. We are really all living some kind of nightmare at the moment. I'm praying your pumpkin transforms into a carriage that carries you safely back - virus-free! A girl can dream!

Pumpkin's face when he heard you were leaving: :ambivalence:

Thanks, Liza - flight booked and confirmed. 30 kg - I never like lugging more than twenty, but this time it might be worth it. Thanks Cate - I'll ditch the rice, then! (I've stocked up on hand sanitiser - the plan is to have enough to share.) I'll be doing the job, partly, online, Petal - enough to keep it ticking over, I hope. This is what the software was I was getting the other day. But this'll be relying on other people, too.
Oh, I feel so badly for them all - I was just reading about NZers stuck in the US, unable to travel home, and I know there'll be many more such.
Thanks, though, everyone, for good wishes. I'm doing umpteen things at once, but with a list I'm getting there - though with mildly glum news on the weight front, as detailed elsewhere. :)

:rotflmao: I love this! Thank you so much! He's little but thriving, and herb tub gladdens my heart. I must try to get a photo for you all.

You do sound very well organised, Amy. I, too wonder why they are waiting so long to get you home. The weight will wait :)

I need a photo of Pumpkin to cheer me up! :D
