Milestones (Amy's diary)

Love that song Amy--we do that one in our singing circle :)

And excellent scientific experiment, always good to delay work for science!

Just listened to your song, thank you. I agree with Liza, it's really nice, and gave me a good excuse to turn off the election return news!

Like your science experiment too. I like sunflower seeds but rarely eat them.

I worked out my SW value of cashews the other day . I decided they were not worth it but had them anyway .
hope the sunflower seeds have a better outcome .

Liza and Rob and Cate - I'm glad you liked the song - I like it very much indeed, and only dithered between two really good versions. (I bet your singing group's version is good, too, liza! :) )

And I'm laughing in pleasure at the sciencey comments! :D Yes, science is for the good of humanity, right? So science during getting-ready-for-work-time is totally justifiable! And I guess someone should turn to and investigate pistachios again, since the lab results from LaMa's noble investigation are lost... sounds a very worthy undertaking...mmm! I might volunteer to attempt to replicate. And then there's walnuts, if I can get them from the grower again...
But no, not cashews, which do grow in a most wonderful and weird way, agreed. (I think peanuts aren't technically nuts, either, Flyer. Legumes?)
So - about the cashews... no shells vs shelled experiment necessary, so what possible justification can I dream up for eating scientificallly investigating them?

(joke, of course! I do eat cashews, even with no scientific justification at all, though not heaps at a time, because... well, we all know why! :) )

Singing that song just lifts the spirit.
Looking forward to all your fun science experiments. Are you going to calculate in calories burned trying to get various nuts open too? Some can really be a lot tougher than others...
on a side note, I love watching crows and other birds use their various methods for getting their nuts open.

:D We definitely should! Unless you´re like my dad and you use a book press to open about a hundred at a time (to feed birds too small to do so themselves, I will add).

Oh, my friends! Public Service Announcement: if in doubt, throw it out!

I am definitely old enough (and to spare!) to know this rule, but I went ahead anyway, and ate the dodgy food, and have spent the last 48 hours (or so) feeling grooly. (That's grooly, not groovy. :ack2: )
I know how fast this site moves - so I know I'll be well behind, but I'll be slowly catching up with all the news, bit by bit - cheers! :)

I read that as "doggy food" at first and admit I wondered a bit about your motivation... Hope you feel better!

Oh no Amy - what were you thinking?! :p

Seriously though, sorry that happened. I take risks sometimes with food and occasionally live to regret it. Take it easy hon and get better soon.

Thanks, everyone! :)
It's a lesson, I've told myself before, about being worth it to have not-off food, so it's galling to have been caught again, liza. I'm like you, Emily - I've taken such chances before, but will try hard to remember not to again. No, not doggy food, LaMa! - "dodgy", meaning of dubious quality or reputation. (woof!) Thanks, Tru, yes, just about there now - a good night's sleep will see me fit again, I trust. :)

Thanks, @Emilyrose y - it was an early morning (no good reason - just woke up) but otherwise slept well.
Thanks, @Petal001 - yes, I think I've learned that lesson now - I was just being a stubborn idiot, I think!
And greetings to you, as two International Women, on this International Women's Day! and indeed to all the international friends here! I love that we cover so much of the globe, and are all working together for our good health! :hurray: :grouphug: :seeya: Cheers and solidarity and waving to you all!
