Looking to lose an extra human I apparently picked up along the way

Homemade food is the bomb! It's good to know everything you are putting in to what you eat, you know where everything has come from and you are making the concious decision to eat it. Instead of eating something that should have about 5 ingredients that actually has about 30, most of which you can't pronounce lol. Looks really good by the way :hurray: Haha glad I'm getting you to test your cooking skills!

I have a new special upper body workout:

What you want to do is to try and taken a broken bicycle pedal off a bicycle by turning the nut the wrong way. If you can't turn it, just keep forcing it for about 10 minutes until you give up, then check the internet for instructions on how to get it off. Then, when the internet tells you it was the wrong way, try turning it the right way which gives you an extra good work out since step one tightened the pedal even more than when you started. To help regulate your breathing during this exercise, you should use every curse word you know and even try and invent a couple of new ones. Finish the exercise by screwing on the new pedal and then toss out a final curse word or two as you put the bicycle away. If you live in an apartment complex or with someone, apologize to anyone within earshot of your tirade.

This exercise works the forearms, biceps, triceps, chest muscles and larynx. It probably will also render your adjustable wrench useless.

323.5 again today which I'm happy with. No apparent repercussions from the bicycle war last night. Going to a new doctor today to get my yearly once-over. Hopefully he won't be a Mengele type and force me to try and find another one.

Here's a pic of the scariest thing I'll see all day on Halloween:

I've resigned myself to the fact that I'll probably have one tomorrow, but the goal is to hold off until dessert. One of these is only about 50 calories so it's not so bad. Hopefully the neighborhood kids will take the rest off my hands.

I am really lucky that I don't ever get trick or treaters in my condo building so I don't ever buy halloween candy! Good job holding steady at that weight since you though you had been dehydrated the day before!

323 this morning and one of today's projects is punching new holes in my belt. Always a good thing.

Had to chuckle at the name "Adobe Pie". Good that you found the recipe - you could probably get it more filling if you put in more veggies, if you wanted to. That's my obsession these days: stop being hungry....

Funny about the bike - I'm going to blame it on pedal age, too. I have a mountain bike that's rated to 300 lbs, and I'm above that, but the only problem I get (weight-related) is that the seat can sink down over time, no matter how tight I get it. Oddly enough, as I lose weight, the seat stops dropping.

I'm thinking of maybe going full tilt and trying a full Arizona Shepherd's Pie sort of thing using southwest spices and the like. Shepherd's pie is a really simple dish in theory, beef (or lamb) and veggies with a layer of potatoes used as pie crust and then baked. The hard part is overcoming the tendency for Shepherd's Pie to be bland. The last two tries were my first success in overcoming that.

There's something called "Tamale Pie" but that's masa instead of potatoes (and possibly pork instead of beef). I love tamales, but they are an epic pain to make, and so maybe the pie version would be better.

Now I have to think about it... I agree about the blandness of shepard's pie, the rare times I have it, I need lots of ketchup or salt. Could you do cornbread dumplings instead? Put the raw cornbread dough on top of the SW meat mix and cook in the oven... I'd do something else, myself, cuz I don't like cornbread, but I know I'm an oddball in that sense.

Are you using beef or gnd turkey?

Using beef (browned and then sauteed with onions). Spiced it up with some barbecue sauce and liquid smoke (mixed in with the beef stock), as well as a decent amount of salt, black pepper and some garlic powder too. Also some paprika on top of the potatoes right before the baking part. There was no real recipe other than the basics, I just kinda winged it.

But I could use Taco spices instead (cumin, cayenne pepper, etc. or even one of those packets) and make it a true Adobe Pie. The cornbread dough would essentially start down the road to Tamale Pie (though masa harina isn't quite the same thing as cornmeal).

Tamales are just starting to be a thing in New England, so I'm pretty sure I'd have no luck finding masa harina.

I suddenly feel compelled to make churasco sometime this weekend.

And, yes, Halloween candy is scary. I forced some self-control by having my 2-yr-old nearby, since candy is new to her (and last night was her first trick-or-treat), I had to lead by example that one is enough. Until she went to bed, then I grabbed a few and went to watch TV. Dang, I just realized I forgot to bring our spare candy to work today! Augh! I'm home for the rest of the weekend!

322.5 on the 1st of November. 10 pounds for the month would put me at 312.5 on December 1st. For some reason that '312.5' has an uplifting effect on me. That's a number that looks tantalizingly close to the 300 pound mark. Progress...

322.5 again on Friday AM.

Saw the doctor this week. My blood pressure was a touch high (122/80) but that may have just been white coat hypertension. I wasn't having blood pressure problems at 375, so there's no good reason to have them at 323. My EKG was good. Going to have the blood panel just to make sure I don't have the diabeetus or any stuff like that. Doc has now signed off on my exercise plan, basically saying that I'd been giving myself "my own stress tests" and they've been fine.

Light exercise this weekend as I've been working out hard all week (including this morning) and I've been a little sore. Some rest with some light exercise might do me some good.

I've reached the point where it's time for some new pants. Maybe a pair of slacks and a new pair of jeans. Trying to go cheap this time.

323 this morning.

Had a crap day yesterday, not so much with food as I maybe had 2300 calories instead of 2200, but just in general. It was difficult because for the first time I realized that my normal method of dealing with such moods (eating like crazy) is no longer available to me. As much as I realize what a terrible idea that generally is, it nevertheless leaves me without much in the way of a coping mechanism for such days. I tried doing a bunch of backlogged housework, and while that definitely got me caught up on a lot of housework, didn't really do the trick for my mood.

Oh well, today's another day.

I appreciate it. Ups and downs of life and all that. I suppose it's good news I can get through a few downs without going Genghis Khan on a deep dish pizza.

Have to fast tomorrow morning for some bloodwork.

I can relate to running to food for comfort, wish I had some pointers there. Maybe a punching bag in the basement? (anyway, that's what I want to install). Not sure your family situation, but from my perspective, it's a lot easier to grab a cookie when I'm winding up than it is to drop a few pushups... Although.... Sorry, thinking out loud again.

Good luck on the blood work, I have some coming up, myself.

322.5 this morning before blood removal. Personal training later today.

Took Saturday and Sunday off exercise wise as I had been really sore. Probably not good for weight loss purposes, but being sore or injured wouldn't help either. Feeling pretty good today and ready to get back into it.

Good luck on the blood work, I have some coming up, myself.

I live by myself (part of the issue) in a decent sized apartment (around 800 sq ft) in a complex with a bunch of others.

What I essentially did was catch up on chores around the apartment. Bachelor living ensures there's always something that needs to be done around the apartment that has been neglected. Feeling a lot better today than I had the last couple of days.
