Lei's Big Huge Log

Jits. Finally tapped John. After, he spine locked me and ****ed up my back.

Hiked/rock climbed off trail up one of the local morros, usually using arms and legs due to steepness, etc.

Ran the trail down.

Incidentally, we found a geocache at the top of the rock where we took this picture. It was really cool to sign it, see what others had written, and leave something of ours in it. We left Big Mac boxes that we drew on with sharpie and piano sheet music from The Fountain.

Some thoughts on where I am right now in terms of training:

I haven't been training much due to n number of excuses. Basically, I simply don't care to as much as I used to. Now that I'm on break, I'd much rather spend my free time doing activities, going on adventures, etc like I have been. I go back on the 22nd or 23rd and my course load will be light, due to my exhaustion of this college's courses before I transfer (not being egotistical-- I've been going to this community college for a while). I plan on using Sheiko programming to get stronger. I have been debating with myself whether or not I should go back to my jiu jitsu school. I've been gone since August due to focusing on school. Currently I roll with very competent people once or twice a week. The only benefit of paying $100/mo for the school is to maintain the contacts I have there.

sheiko is pretty cool. i DL'd the attachment. i honestly dont belive i will use it though. looked cool i guess.
who made that up?

I got the template off some forum when I searched for sheiko resources.

Jits. Was not feeling it today-- Let my back open too much. Need to defend choke before hooks. Choke can still be deep as **** without needing hooks. Need to get my head into this now. Bottom game needs more sweeps. Need more guard game. Need more competent scrambles. Control the head for triangles. Get better angles. Need to work triangles much more. Everyone escaped them today. Adapt or die

Jits today. Warmed up with standing, some judo throws. Tie up with underhook, control elbow or wrist, back step into throw, "look at watch"

Then we rolled. Caught a purple belt unawares with straight ankle lock through leg manipulation while defending chokes. I was fairly proud of myself.

Thoughts: work the shaolin more.

Jits. Remember that the step over half guard pass works best if the opponent is trying to take the back with deep underhook. Knee in, uncommited underhook+step over=fail.

4x5 muscle ups
4x12 ring dips
other ring stuff

You can do box jumps. I usually go on youtube and look for people who display explosiveness and message them for tips. That's what I did.

Example:

You mean instead of squatting? I know, I have more equipment I can use as well, I just don't really have a strong desire to. There is no other excuse than me wanting to be lazy.

Jits. Work on head and hip blocking pass. Work on wrestler-like aggression and not just go with the flow jits.

1/20/09
6x5 muscle ups
3x10+ ring dips
3x10+ ring rows

Jits. Control bottom arm for control of opponent rolling out. Keep looking for this control. Works for any side. Triangles need more space-- push off from hip.

BEGINNING OF SHEIKO PROGRAMMING

dynamic stretch, bar complex warm up

back squat-
5 @ 130
2x4 @ 155
2x3 @ 180
5x2 @ 205

OHP-
5 @ 95
4 @ 115
2x3 @ 135
3x3 @ 150 <-- Fail

Incline db bench-
5x10 @ 40/hand

back squat-
5 @ 130
5 @ 155
5x4 @ 180

Feet to bar hanging leg raise-
2x10

Decline abs-
10 @ bw+25

Thoughts-

Holy ****. The OHP's called for 6x3 @ 150. That's freaking insane. I may have to drop the poundage to handle the volume for the OHP. On paper it looked easy but wow-- this was a pretty hard training session for me. Probably because I haven't lifted seriously in months.

So it's changed; I dropped my 1RM OHP max to 175 to compensate for my state of failure. Future weights will reflect this change.

Baller log dude, I'm a BJJ guy too. :beerchug:

edit: just noticed you snowboard too, awesome, bjj and snowboarding are two of my biggest hobbies.

Lei cant even stand up on his snowboard, when he says his hobby is snowboarding he actually means he likes going and watching men snowboard, he has a strange fetish for ski gear.

Nice man. I just went this last weekend and that's probably going to be it for the rest of the season. I see you live in Norway-- snowboarding year-round?

NBS, you're just sore that your mom calls me more than she calls you :D

I'm sure you already know this but stick to that Shieko program for a while- I learned today many people jump programs when there not seeing results or what/not.

Not really. A good part of the year though.

Do you go to Tahoe mostly?
