Kristi's journey to a healthy lifestyle

Finally got busy and did a mini-workout. Not much, but better than nothing. I posted it to my daily food/exercise post.

Love the new pic....just beautiful. :)

I didn't even realize that The Biggest Loser had started this week. Darnit... cuz I really want to watch it this season. I have not been able to watch ANY T.V. at all (which of course is not really a bad thing...) So, I gotta add this to my Tivo list. That thing is overloaded, I tell you.

Kristi, you know, everyone here has said what a great person you are, and they are all right. I am sorry to hear about your childhood. It is a great healing process that you can open up and share with us. You are strong and deserve to continue on this journey because you need to feel great from the inside out.

One thing I personally think you need to do is make sure that you are taking enough time to do things JUST FOR YOU. Like you said, you became a "mom" in highschool and then went straight into being a wife and now a literal mom. You really need to give yourself that extra special treatment... we all deserve it, you just gotta make sure you are doing it. Go get a pedicure, a massage, a sugar scrub... or take that wonderful bubble bath that you keep threatening to take.

You are doing great! Thanks for all of your encouragement and your inspiring hard work and dedication.

And the fact that you share with us, is just one of the things that makes you the wonderful person that you are.

If, by any chance I ever end up in your part of the world, I'm looking you up... I'm going to give you a big hug, shake your hubby's hand, and tell him what a lucky guy he is!!!

I agree with Karl. I so want to hug you right now. Isn't it funny though that what doesn't kill us makes us stronger as people. Those old ghosts are hard to deal with at times, trust me I know, I have alot of crap, if you ever want to talk, I'm here for you girlie. I finally got to read this... Sorry a few days later, it's been a tough past few days for me. Well girlie, I hope you're doing good today. I'm going to finish up reading the rest from here, so maybe I'll be posting again in a minute. ;)
Natasha

I told you I'd add more hehehe... I know, I'm a dork! I just want to tell you that you are a really strong, beautiful, and great person. I know I don't know you that well, but I can tell just by the things you have to say, and that smile is awesome, always lights up my day. You are always nice and have something positive to say. I can tell that we're going to have a great friendship because I already consider you a friend. Well, talk to you later :)

I have some pretty amazing peeps!!!!

Love the new pic....just beautiful.

Thanks Englan!!! So are you! :D

I think either Target or Walmart. I'll try to find out for sure, cuz they were a gift. Everyone in my family has them...

Oh good. I'm going to both this weekend so I'll look for one. I love your idea to use the wheat tortillas!

I have it on tivo too. I like to watch them again the day of the new episode so I remember what happend! Here's a link if you want to watch the first hour of the premier. I think they introduce everyone and you can get a feel of who they are:

Thank you so very much for what you said. I am feeling the love this week and I cannot be more thankful for the support and friendship. I'm soooo glad that we have all met. Wouldn't it be cool if we all lived in the same town and went to the same gym?!!?! I think about that sometimes and how amazing that would be. We could all start our own reality show if that was the case! lol!

I think some special time for me is a good plan! :) I was supposed to go get my haircut next week, but it falls on the same day that my dentist appt. is. I'm just now remembering this, so I'm glad you brought that up! I need to call and reschedule. I love my hair stylist. I've only been to him once, but it's like I struck gold because he's wonderful!! It's like a 3 hour ordeal and I get a half an hour massage with it. It's only every three months, but totally worth the wait! I actually had gone well over a year of not cutting my hair. I had gone from Nov. '06 (the week b/f Erik was born) until May of '08 this summer! I don't know what I was thinking. I felt frumpy so I played the part I guess. I went to a cheap place just to get it over with at the beginning of the summer and then I went with my sisters a couple months ago and lovvved it and will be going there from now on. It's pricey but well worth it. And yes, a good buble bath should be in order soon! When Erik goes down for a nap tomorrow, I just might do that!

Natasha!! I'm sitting here reading everyone's amaaazing posts and crying my eyes out! I am beyond thankful for all of the kind words and for your friendship. I could NOT do this if I didn't have you all. I am dead serious. I know myself and I know that I would have quit by now. Y'all make this journey worth it. And y'all make me feel like I'm worth it.

I totally agree 100% about letting the things that don't kill us, strengthen us. I don't think I would want to go back and change anything. It all worked out for the best in the end. I never had a stable mom (my real mom has bi-polar and was never able to raise us) and in order for me to become a stable mom, I had to get the practice early on. That's the way I look at it. I am thankful that God gave me a heart for children when my step-mom left us. If not, then I would have resented everyone, including my helpless sisters (and I mean helpless...one was still in diapers), and none of us would have benefited from that.

I know that some people may not believe this... but I do believe that God works out all things for those who love him and want to do his will ...even if we don't know it at the time. I'm not preaching to anyone, I just want everyone to know where my strength comes from because I cannot take all the credit. I would have fallen apart (and there were days that I did) completly if it wasn't for God carrying us through. It's amazing to look back now and see all the beauty that has come from the brokeness.

Thank you to everyone reading this. I hope I don't offend anyone with my beliefs. I know that not everyone believes the same and I'm not trying to convince anyone about anything.

Y'all are all amazing people! One thing I know for certain: My life is better because of y'all.
:hat::biggrinjester::rolleyes::troll::coolgleamA: :conehead::party: (I get to be the red one in the middle with the balloon!!!)

sooo tired! bout to go to bed. don't remember exact # of calories, but it was something like 1680something....

Exercise: Twenty miles on mom-in-law's exercise bike. took me an hour and 9 minutes exactly going 17 to 32 mph. The back of my shirt was sopping wet when I was finished, which has never happend before! I pushed myself!

...and Karl, I tried to beat your twenty-eight miles, but I had to leave to put Erik to bed...I think I could have done it though. I was IN the ZONE!!

I was lonely today so I spent the day with my mom-in-law and we had a blast (like always.) It was sooo good to get out of the house. I needed it so badly. Chris got up about 9:30 p.m. (he normally gets up at 11:30 and leaves 5 min. after he wakes up.) when I got home from his mom's and we spent some quality time together, which was also something that I needed. This weekend is going to be so refreshing since he'll be all mine on Friday and Saturday. Can't wait!!!

Hope everyone has a wonnnderful weekend and beautiful weather! It has been gorgeous down here in Louisiana!

Sounds like you are throwing down the gauntlet... I am going to have to push myself this weekend and try for 35 miles.

...and oh yeah. Nooo worries on that one! He doesn't have much of a choice! :D

Hey there Kristi!

You're doing such an awesome job and thanks for sharing some of your background with us. I think we all have our stories that can be reflected on to why we gain weight. Food is all too often a source of comfort (I know this all too well).

Keep up the great work, and I'll try to check back more often when I have a chance to breathe from underneath my mounds of school work. lol

How you doing Mamacita?!? Lov'n the new pic.

Thank you to everyone reading this. I hope I don't offend anyone with my beliefs. I know that not everyone believes the same and I'm not trying to convince anyone about anything.

Hey, no apologizing for talking about your beliefs, Lady. :)

weigh-in day...

Didn't count calories today. Didn't go too overboard though....

Breakfast: Organic granola and 1 % milk. 1 apple. 1/2 cup. OJ

Lunch: Can bumblebee Tuna Sensations: (Spicy Thai Chilli flavor) Whole wheat hot dog bun. Light choc. soy milk.

Snack: 1/2 serving triscuit thin crisps. serving of havarti cheese. 1 plum. Light chocolate soy milk.

Dinner: Ate at the Super Target Deli: Salad with Grilled Chicken, veggies, boiled egg, and blue cheese dressing (ate about a 1/2 of the salad) . 6 pieces of shrimp sushi. grapes. Apple Juice.

Exercise: 35 girl pushups. Jumping jacks. Series of squats and lunges. Butt kicks (running in place and kicking heel of foot to butt) Also if it counts for anything I did do about 4 hours of walking while shopping today with Chris and Erik.

And now for the weigh-in.....

Lost: two pounds this week making it a total of......drum roll.... twenty-five pounds lost since May. woohoo! I'll be taking measurements this week and posting my losses. HOPEFULLY by Monday or Tuesday I will have my own exercise bike instead of using my mom-in-laws. I'm so ready to make it a daily habit. Tried to find Wii Fit today. Of course they are out at like 5 stores and you can't even order them online right now. Oh well. I'll keep looking.

Today's accomplishment: Zipping up a pair of khaki pants that I haven't worn since 2005.

You are a very strong person because of what you went through, and I also believe that god puts things in our life to teach us, better us, and mold us into who we will be in the future... that's why I know you can do this... :) I think we all keep eachother strong here. It's so great!!! Okay, you can be the red one, I want to be the yellow one then... hehehe.. I like yellow for some reason.?. I'm so glad that you and your family got to have a good time together. Thanks Natasha :) I'm sorry that your workplace is giving you so much trouble. My brain is foggy, but what is it that you do again? I think I remember you saying a corrections facility...but I could be waaaay off! I'm glad your little boy is doing better. I know that should relieve some of your stress. Try to get some rest when you can...or better yet, running is probably even better! Good for you for going running! I always have a hard time with that...but who knows, I might be better at it now that I'm getting in better shape! Well, hope you're having a good weekend!
