Are you going to have to head out of the way of Ike?
I am concerned for you guys down there. Just seems like when you do get hurricanes you keep getting this 1-2 punch thing.
Stay safe!
Way to go on the food. YUMMY! :drool5:
I need to do some twisting around on my menus as well.
Though I can't twist them to much.
Or else the kids won't eat them.
Did get them to eat Baked Salmon the other night. Ds kept asking what we were having. He has it in head to think that he doesn't like fish, so I told him we were having ocean chicken.
He bought it hook, line and sinker! LOL

I'm hoping that it doesn't head this way! For now it looks like it's going toward Texas and we might not have to worry about it. We'll know for sure by this weekend, b/c that's when it is predicted to hit the coast. I'm glad the worst of Gustav was losing power for us. Some people didn't get off that easy :/ Thanks for the concern :)

LOL aobut the ocean chicken!!!!!!!! I told my husband that as he was eating fish sticks and he's calling it that now! haha!

Wow, that sounds like a pretty tasty combination of stuff!!

I'm going to have to start getting more creative with recipes. By adding new flavors, it should keep things interesting.

Sounds great!! Gonna have to try this.

I love throwing stuff together with what I have. Every now and then I come up with a "never again!" but for the most part I end up liking it. My husband and son won't touch the stuff I've been eating though. My husband lost 10 pounds from me just changing what I cook and he isn't even trying!! More for me!

We're moving from our apartment in a very busy area and moving into our first home on a peaceful dead end street It's still in the same town and not far away but the difference I'm sure is going to be amazing...and yay I can do gardening again

Congrats! I like gardening too. What kind of gardening do you enjoy? (ie. vegetable, herb, perennials, roses...etc?)

Hey girl! Just checking in on you and so so so sorry about the teeth! Yuck, I'm so sorry that is just rough!

Idea though with your food, instead of Prego and sauces like that, substitute whole tomatoes to cut back on sodium. Even canned tomatoes bought at the grocery store have less sodium than those sauces. Have a great day!!!!!

Good thinking, thanks! I'm thinking about trying out a lower sodium/calorie spaghetti sauce. I think Healthy Choice has some. I'm scared that I'll hate it though! Can't hurt to try though.

Hey Darlin' just checking in to say hi and make sure you're doin' okay.

I'd love to add you to my myspace, but...

I never made one!! Maybe I'll have to do that sometime, why not join the new millenium... If I do , I'll be sure and add you!

Hi Karl :seeya: Doing good today. I'll need to do some more exercise before the day is over to make it "great!" : ) You should make a myspace. It's fun! So far I've found about 10 people that are on there from this forum. I made it so that I can let my sisters, cousins, and other friends be a part of this journey as well. My older sister hasn't seen me in person since June and she got to see my recent pictures on there. She said she cried b/c she was so happy that I'm doing this for myself. Anyway, I like myspace. It's a bit addictive....kind of like this forum... hehehe

Did you find me yet? lol :D I hardly get on there anymore now though since I joined this forum. I used to love redoing my page but I don't have the extra time for that right now.

Nice job on the exercise and healthy food :) I'm gonna check out those kashi pizzas now that I keep seein them in your log. I saw them in the store somewhere the other day but was in a hurry and hadn't had time to stop and check 'em out.

So how's stuff with you? I mean besides the weightloss, cuz it's obvious you're kicking some major butt there :D

I LOVE the Kashi pizza's! How did you ever manage to only eat 1/3LOL :smilielol5:

And if you want a forum buddy who can totally support you in your walking endeavor you need to pop over and see Omega.
She has made it a habit to walk astronomical amounts everyday. And in doing that she has lost over 160 pounds!!! :jump:
Though if you do pop over she is currently on "holiday" to a Greek Island. (I am sooooo jealous! :drool5:)
But she'll be right back at it, as soon as she gets home.

it seems like you are making all the right choices. You know exactly what needs to be done... Just find yourself a groove and stay with it!

I found you and added you! Thanks! Oh and the Kashi pizzas are soo good. I love Kashi. I actually just joined their website so that I can get coupons and keep up with what they are coming out with next. They even have recipes on there that use their ingredients. Very cool. Everything tastes so fresh and healthy. It's not overly salty and bland like every other frozen thing I've tried out there.

Thank you so much for asking about me. I haven't really thought about how I'm doing because I'm just so focused on this weight loss. It's basically ALL I think about and most of what I talk about. So, how am I doing? hmm. I'm trying to fight the sadness of not being with my husband. It's really starting to wear on me that I don't get to see him but an hour a day...if that. And in that hour he has to eat, bathe, and undwind from his crazy busy schedule. I don't get to share anything with him because I don't want to add to his load. I'm even afraid to tell him that I miss him in fear that I'm going to make him feel bad. He is such a hard worker and I don't want to put a damper on him. I know I've talked about this before but it's just really hard on me because I've been holding it all in. *****I wrote ^that and then my hubby woke up to go to work. As he was getting ready to go I hugged him for a long time and cried. I feel much better now and he said that he understood why I was sad and that I didn't have to be sorry for sharing that with him. Weather permitting, we are going on a movie date on Saturday to see, Burn After Reading. Looks like a cute movie. I know I will really enjoy the time with him. That is if Ike doesn't come to get us. When there's a hurricane in the Gulf usually he has to stay at the station even if it's his day off. He just left for a 12 hour shift from midnight to noon tomorrow. Good thing the university is closed due to the weather or else he would of had to miss his classes.
Anyway, other than all of that I'm doing pretty good. We went to Chris' brother's house today to say goodbye to him. He's leaving to go to Iraq for a year. I hope it wasn't the last time that we see him. He has a wife and two little girls to come home to. This has always been a dream of his to go and it will really set them up financially for the future. My hope is that he will be safe.
Tomorrow I'm going to have Ladies Night with a few of my gal pals! (Again, weather permitting...) We are going to go see "The Women" and then go to a coffee shop and chit chat. We are trying to all get together once a month without the kids and so far this will be our second sucessful attempt. We have to plan around all of our hubbies being able to watch our kids, so sometimes it's hard to make it work. My mom is going to watch Erik tomorrow, so it's all good : ) Can't wait and hope that hurricane Ike doesn't mess up my plans for the weekend! grr.
Thanks for asking about how I'm doing!

HAha! I know! It's hard to stop at just 1/3!! That was until I read that the whole thing was 900 calories...that kind of made up my mind for me! I cut the 1/3 into tiny slices so that I fool myself into thinking that I'm eating more of it!

Funny you mention Omega's diary. I've actually been wanting to read it. I've seen her posts around the forum and saw her ticker recently and was blown away. How long is she on vacation for? At least now I'll be able to catch up on reading her stuff! Thanks for the heads up :)

Thanks so much! From your ticker, it looks like you are making some right choices as well. Great work! :)

No wonder you are always on here so late at night! Trying to deal with hubby not being around.

I get it. My wife and I have always worked opposite shifts. I used to work 12 hour shifts from 6:30pm to 6:30am, and she worked days. We would pass each other on the highway on the way to and from work in the moring, and I would see her long enough to eat dinner, give her a kiss and walk out the door at night.

It is better now, but not by a lot. She is generally not home until at least 6:00pm, and I have to head out by 8:15 or so. Maybe a couple hours a night.

The part that hurts is when my kids were little, it worked out really well to have opposite shifts with regard to child care. One of us was always home when they were. I slept while they were in school. They are adults now.

Twice in the last six months, a job has opened up in my department working days. In both cases, with my seniority and my experience, I would be a shoo in for the position. HOWEVER, I can't get the classes that I still need to take at night. Working nights, and going to school days is the only way to make it work.

I would dearly love to go home and sleep with my wife every night. And I don't even mean that in the sexy way. I mean, we've been doing this for 20 years, there is always a way to figure out THAT part. I mean, going to bed with and waking up next to the person I married.

Yeah I feel ya.

Day 73 9-11-08

Weigh-in is tomorrow! I'm nervous! I guess because I'm afraid I will see that I've gone up by like 5 pounds for some crazy reason. You just never know!

(270)Breakfast: Toasted whole wheat pita(150), 1 tbl. of low fat peanut butter(I'm out of the natural kind)(95),Low sugar grape jelly(25) water(0)

(335)Lunch: Kashi Lemongrass Coconut Chicken(300), it was kind of watery so I added in a wedge of light creamy swiss(35), water (0)

(385!!)Snack/Desert:3/4 cup of blackberries(90), serving of sugar free angel food cake(120), 5 tbls. cool whip(125), 1/2 c. milk(50)

(470)Dinner: I cooked 2 oz. Valley Fresh 100% natural chicken(in a can),(70),pepper and salt, big tbl. minced garlic, shredded carrots(20),2 cups of baby spinach leaves(20), 2 serving of monterey jack cheese(200), cooked until carrots were soft but still a little crunchy. 3/4 of a whole wheat pita toasted(115), sliced cucumbers(30) and 5 cherry tomatoes(15), water(0)

(310)Snack: 1 small granny smith apple(70), 1 serving of cheddar cheese(80),5 multi-grain crackers(60), 1 cup of 1% milk(100)

Total Calories: 1770....1 calorie different from yesterday. weird!

Exercise:

I wore my pedometer again today, but at about 7 oclock it reset on accident. The last time I had looked at it I was at around 1800 steps so I'll go with what I had yesterday: 2,088. I'm disapointed in myself that I didn't work harder to get more in today.

22 girl pushups without stopping. I'm in the 100 push-ups challenge and am working on getting up to 25 push-ups by tomorrow. I've been adding a little each day and am doing well at beating my previous goal. I actually surprised myself today.

100 crunches (sides, legs folded, legs crossed up in the air, and regular)

No big workout today. I WILL be doing one tomorrow!

Edit:

I'd like to add in that.... At my brother-in-law's house they were serving Pizza and my mother-in-law's homemade chocolate cake with home-made chocolate frosting. I did not have anything but a big glass of ice water!!!!!! I ate before I went and was not hungry at all and I resisted! :sifone:

Yes, this is exactly why I'm on here so late! I wait up for him to see him off and by then I get a second wind and I'm wide awake for the next 2 or 3 hours. Good thing my son is a late sleeper! He goes to bed at 9 and sleeps for about 12 hours : ) Works out pretty well. Honestly, not being able to go to sleep at the same time is at the top of the list for me. It's soooo difficult. That's another reason I stay up so late. If I didn't then I would just be lying there for hours awake anyway. Might as well do something fun until I get tired!
...and yes, there is always a way to figure the other stuff out! Sometimes I surprise him half an hour before he has to get up. That's always fun! :santa: tmi....

That's such a bummer about you not being able to switch over to days. How much longer do you have in school? Will you be able to switch over when you are graduated? Chris graduates in May and there is a little bit of light peeking through the end of the tunnel. He's almost there. I have to hold onto that thought. It will not be like this forever.

So true, forgot about the holidays! That should make the time go by quick. Now I'm looking forward to them probably just as much as he is!
