I was wondering what are you guys going to do to lose 10 pounds in July? Because I need help, I started my weight loss journey on June 13th and I was 200 pounds and now I am 197 (probably just water weight), and I been 197 for 2 weeks so far. I drink nothing but water and I workout 6 days out of the week. The one problem I have is that I don't count calories. I just need help on how to count calories and what are some foods do you guys eat to lose weight?

First thing you need to know is your BMR. There is an equation in the "how many calories should I eat" sticky in the nutrition subforum, or you can google for a calculator. Once you calculate that, multiply it by your activity factor (1.2+), and subtract 500 calories per day for every lb you want to lose. At your current weight, you could probably shoot for 2lbs lost per week maximum. Your BRM should probably be in the 2000 to 3500 range. If its on the low end, you shouldn't cut calories to below 1200 per day.

Then, just count the calories in everything you eat. Try to get the number you calculated to lose weight. There are programs online that you just enter the food and it stpits out the calories for you. I use an app on my phone to do it.

It might not work right away. BMR is constantly changing, and depends a lot on your activity. So if you don't see the results you're looking for the first week, you have to adjust. Through counting calories, I recently learned I could start eating a little more and still have the results I'm looking for, because I was losing weight too rapidly.

hey, glad to see everyone posting!! I actually had to go to the dentist this morning...completely forgot to weigh in!! Yikes! I'll do it first thing tomorrow!
 
I've lost 21 lbs and I started on May 27th 2010. I don't watch my calories and I have not started exercising yet. Exercise will be what I start adding in soon. My doctor put me on a low carb diet plan. I started on low calorie for the first week but found I was starving all the time. I'm eating low carbs now but will start adding more carbs into my plan as I go. I've been eating veggies, salads, meat,fish, cheese, and eggs pretty much and plenty of water. So far it's been working for me as I can eat until im not hungry but I don't over stuff. I may go back to counting calories once I get my eating habits at a more comfortable level. I was a person who ate til I felt sick. Now that I never feel really hungry its been so easy so far to stay on plan......
