I think

That we should have the Olympics in China every year. That way we can turn how bad they're going to screw things up into an Olympic game. We'll call it the guessing game event.

I kinda didn't understand this part:
That way we can turn how bad they're going to screw things up into an Olympic game

I have no idea why I didn't understand that.. re reading it now it's not hard at all :p

And yeah, I agree!

It seems everyone is talking about how great the China olympics are, and everyone are praising them, but considering all the discoveries lately about things they have done (the girls who was miming, the footprints was made by computer, etc) I think it's wrong to do that. Sure the result is great, but the methods used are sort of immoral.

Also; Part of the ending fireworks scene being computer generated. The little girl on the swing not really singing... Very disappointing.

Who cares about that ****. All that matters is the end result, and the end result was fantastic. All the olympics from here on out will be compared to this one, and I doubt any country will be able to present the opening ceremony as good as they did.

The problem is that if everyone recognizes this as the best olympic games ever, it basically means it is ok to do what they did to get there. Others will start doing the same and going to the same extremes.

I hope they do, if the end-result comes anywhere close to matching China's opening ceremony

You're right. There may not ever be another "pretty show" like that. Why? Most countries have more important things to spend $40billion dollars on...

I still don't see how China was allowed to hold the Olympics with such a very poor human rights record...

America has poor human-rights records, whats your point. Every country did something ****ed up sometime or another.

China has over 1.3 billion people, they are already a economic super power and are emerging as a military super power in the next 20-30 years. People can't just ignore them. You dont want to piss off 1.3 billion people by saying you can't host the olympics.

Olympics = No room for politics.

Anyways, the next olympic ceremony wont be anywhere near China. China spent what, 41 billion? London is spending less than 18 billion. London sucks anyways, should have been either in the USA or South America

So if I want everyone in the world to like my olympic game, I'll just kill everyone who doesn't like it.
Anything goes, so according to you is it OK for me to kill everyone who didn't like it, making the end result an olympic game that everyone liked?

When did I say that? All I meant that there is no problem with lip syncing, some computer generalized fireworks, etc just to make the ceremony all the more perfect.

So we're going to judge the quality of the Olympics based on the opening ceremony? Essentially then whomever spends the most money will have the best Olympics. And since we're basing it on these standards and it doesn't matter if some of it's real or not, then we'll just CGI the entire opening ceremony and really have a grand one.

I think China's just been taking notes from Superbowl halftimes.

Oh and let's not forget the American reporters that were arrested in China while the opening ceremonies were happening.

CGI fireworks
lip synching
Faking the age of two gymnasts
1000 rockets fired to keep the rain at bay during opening ceremony

You guys make such a big deal out of something so little, relax and enjoy the olympics in stead of trying to find a reason to de-credit and tarnish the Chinese.

As for the 2-3 under-age gymnasts, it doesn't really bother me that they were 2 years younger than they should have been. They were better performers than the other teams and thats all that matters to me.

Come on now Evo, you and I both know that the "entire" ceremony wasn't faked out with CGI. Sure, it might be immoral to fake some of the fireworks, maybe it was wrong to replace the ugly kid with the pretty kid. But it shouldn't overshadow and negate the fact that the rest of the ceremony was spectacular

Oh, I know. I've just been miserable with this stomach thing, so I had to find something to hate on. :)

I dont think the real little girl singer was ugly at all! She was cute and could sing too. Anyway, I agree that China is somewhat of an upcoming super power...but it is true that their human rights or lack thereof leave much to be desired. Have you seen the 2 or 3 year old gymnasts training in the chinese gyms? Their crying to get off their hands that they've been forced to hold in a handstand for God knows how long. Most of the Chinese who go on to win gold eventually wind back up in their shack of a home because now they're "old" and useless. And as far as gymnasts competing at too young of an age...there is a big problem with that 1) its the rule!! 2) their bodies and growth plates aren't even fully developed yet posing a bigger injury threat in that kind of rigorous training and competition. Despite that, however, its still A RULE!!! if it is no big deal then every country should be allowed to break it and get away with it. With that said, I'd still buy your game cuz I love sports and I'd love to be able to compete like these athletes so you'd definitely have to make it virtual or interactive!

There more than just that to:

The 50 or so children supposed to represent the different chinese cultures were actually just from the one cultur.

The singer who was SUPPOSED to sing got cut out because she was deemed "too ugly"

Small crowds

What happened to the quote about it's the journy that counts not the destination. Phate, i think most people prefer genuity and true passion than deceightful statements and propaganda?

Thats nothing new. The Chinese learned from the Eastern Europeans and the Soviet Union on how to train athletes and turn them into machines. Unlike in other nations, in China they are hand-picked at the age of 3-4 to train in rigorious programs, and the parents pretty much support it because it brings honor to the family. The kids might not like it then, but once they win a gold and come back to their country with so much respect, they would see that it was all worth it.

I'm going to do the same thing with my future kids. Why should I let them grow up like normal kids? What is normal? Growing up to watch tv 4 hours a day, playing video games non stop? **** that. When my kid turns 4-5 years old i'm going to either enroll him in a sport and make him learn to love it, or if i have a girl i'll enroll her in dance or gymnastics.

I have many friends whos parents did exactly that phate and they hated sports so much by the time I graduated high school that some of them turned down full ride scholarships for wrestling because they hated that their parents pushed so hard. They were, and could have remained phenomenal athletes, more than one doesn't even step foot in a gym anymore because of that resentment. I would just suggest taking a careful approach to putting your kids in sports, make sure they are competing in something they enjoy. I dunno, that's my opinion anyways.

Yeah, communism is nice like that.

And if they don't?

because it brings honor to the family
Really? Yeah, I guess you would know since your there to talk to the family behind closed doors.

I'm sure the parents just love seeing their only child taken away from them without any say in the matter. As remember, the Chinese are still subject to the law of one child per family or you suffer stiff penalty's.

Again, how do you know this? And what gives any person the right to tell another what they can and can't do to such a degree. Who has the right to decide a child's fate before they can even speak well?

You can't force someone to love anything.
