Weight-Loss Green Tea Info

Weight-Loss
My own experience:
- Green tea: I don't know how much it helps, but it sure helps me get my water in! I can - sometimes - skip my water intake, so right now for example it's winter here, so warm tea along the day helps me drink!
- Sugar substitute: I'm not saying anything health related, as I have no idea, but I do know I have a sweet tooth and it has done wonders for me! I cook and drink my morning coffee with it and it has made a huge difference for me. Of course, I also have tried to teach myself to require less and less sugar. When I have the energy - and patience - to make my own fresh juices as well I tend to use substitutes.
In terms of health, I do find that anything natural is best, so when I can't take substitute sugar I try to take limited amounts of brown sugar (anything not refined is better than anything refined in my book - and much tastier! :D). I agree with someone above that mentioned the caffeine in green tea, so I try to slow down towards the evening and use one tea back (or an average pinch of dried leaves) for 1/1.5 L along the day. At night I've recently adopted a mixture that is meant to help digestion as I find that is one thing I have issues with and it has worked wonders. I wont name any trademarks, but it's a general name brand "special digestion" mix...

Not too sure about the stevia comment "lowering sperm count". There was one study, which looked at some part of the plant. There were no conclusions to it.

Here is another link about stevia:

Green tea

Quick question, not easy to get a good answer off google.
I'm thinking of starting to drink green tea twice a day (Morning and afternoon), store brand. Is this going to be that effective for anti oxidants and increased metabolism ? Or do you really need to get a green tea extract ? The only ingredient in the tea is green tea according to the packet.

Thank's :)

You can get great antioxidants from just good old fashioned Green Tea. This is one of the reasons that people in Asian countries have less chronic diseases. They don't have green tea extract pills, they just drink the real stuff.

Another benefit of Green Tea is that it curbs hunger. When I'm dieting hard and crave junk food, I drink 2 large cups of Green Tea. I prefer to drink it while its still hot, because then it really makes me feel full.

I also like to workout on an empty stomach. Green Tea gives me energy for my workout, without having to ingest any calories.

Great Stuff!

How many cups a day though ? Some things say as much as ten, others four, I was thinking of two, but I could easily have another two.

From what I heard, 2 is about right as it can contain more caffeine than coffee, depending on the actual brand and infusion time.

There are lots of alternative herbal teas that you can try too. I quite like echinacea (good for immune sys I heard), fennel and peppermint (both help digestion).

Green tea contains caffeine. Although green tea's caffeine content is less than that of black tea or coffee, in fact, three or four cups of green tea contains approximately the same amount of caffeine found in a single cup of coffee Source..

Drink as many cups as you enjoy! I drink somewhere between two and ten per day. However, I'm not convinced about many of its health-boosting claims, and even less by its claims of metabolism boosting or weightloss claims. If you want to read up on the various studies, then try here. I drink green tea because I enjoy it, and it contains less caffeine than coffee! As for green tea extracts - why?

Sure, just drink the real thing. I used to drink a lot of green tea and it's totally delicious; I became practically hooked on the stuff.

You can drink lots of green tea and it doesn't give you that nasty agitated feeling that you get from coffee or black tea. Certain Buddhist monks drink it to help them focus the mind during meditation.

Edit: Just make sure you don't buy any that's produced in China. Remember, every penny spent on Chinese goods = more missiles for the peoples' liberation army. Besides, Japanese green tea is far superior.

according to a study done in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. Green Tea extracts are just as beneficial as normal tea. Although I would always suggest whole over processed.
Conclusions: Our observations suggest that green tea extract supplements retain the beneficial effects of green and black tea.

Buy organic, and buy outside of china.

Both suggestions are for health reasons...

drink more

I think the more green tea you drink the better....i don't see
a fall back drinking too many

It depends on the quality of the water you're using to brew the tea. Drinking bucket loads of tap water is not good for you, even if it's been boiled; it contains loads of chemicals from aluminium sulphate to fluoride.

I might be a little late on this subject, but I recently started drinking the Lipton Green Tea - hot several times a day and have noticed a big difference in my metabolism.

caffeine is going to increase metabolism

My friend as long as I know Green Tea has caffeine in it, so yes. Anything with caffeine is going to increase metabolism for as long as it remains int he system. Your digestion will speed up and allow your intestines to absorb less nutrients.

Green Tea and Hoodia Capsules

Do you think taking Green Tea capsules and Hoodia capsules will help me with weight loss? I know Green Tea helps with a number of things as well as prevention for some diseases, so either way I win.

I am thinking of going to GNC and getting some vitamins etc. so that with my new eating habits I am not malnourished. I heard that Green Tea helps the metabolism as well as Hoodia. However, I also hear that a lot of companies sell something besides Hoodia in their capsules, so how do I know if it's real??

If you're eating properly -there's really no reason for you to be malnourished...

I'm not a fan of vitamins replacing proper nutrition -if you aren't getting what you need thru your food - -change your food... don't rely on chemistry to make up for that...

Track your food in an online food journal and you'll know where you need to up certain things -then if you're consistantly short on certain nutrients -check out The World's Healthiest Foods and find foods that are high in that vitamin.

As for hoodia and other weight loss aids - don't waste your money - you aren't going to take them for the rest of your life -so use a lifestyle change and fix your eating habits rather than popping a pill.

If diet pills worked....

Morning,

I look at it this way - if a diet pill/quick fix really worked, there wouldn't be any fat people wanting to lose weight now, would there? They'd simply take that pill.

Personally I want a pill that increases one's patience level when dealing with surly teenagers who possess the social graces of an overly caffeinated buffalo that's trapped in the proverbial glass shop. Now that would make the inventor a millionaire.... :)

Onto bowl #3 of Ling Chicken Soup of Death (and this time I added sliced ginger root as well),

Barbara

there are minimal benefits to weight loss when it comes to green tea - and it's primarily the caffeine in it that's the benefit... eat sensibly and exercise... save your money for a new wardrobe...
