Weight-Loss Green Tea Info

Weight-Loss
Green and black tea blend

My Dad just bought me these teabags instead of just normal green tea ones. I usually drink around 5 mugs of green tea a day and a few litres of water.

Should I just drink these blend tea bags as I would green tea, or should I replace my green tea with water until I get my hands on some green tea bags?

black tea has more caffeine than green tea does... but it's got just as many health properites...

if you're drinking it as a weight loss aid, then there's really no difference.. .however, the tea - green or black - shouldn't really be yor only liquid for the day...

I usually drink at least a couple litres of water too

Should I drink more water now though because of the higher caffeine content?

i'm sure there's all sorts of information i could dig out on caffeine and how much is too much in one day... but I'm lazy - and I really believe that every body reacts differently to caffeine... so it's really up to you and how you're feeling when you're drinking it if you feel you need more water... or less tea..

green tea

I've been told that green tea can help with weight loss. Anyone ever try it or know anything about it? Or what is the best brand?

While it will help you lose weight it's not the sole reason to drink it. It has many health benefits and i drink 1 or 2 cups per day.

As for brand, i wouldn't buy tea bags but loose leaf and make yourself a pot of it. Not as convenient but the difference is worlds apart.

No. It will not help you loose weight. The increase in basil metabolic rate from increased consumption of green tea in all studies has shown it to be dismal and negligible. If you are going to drink it you should do so for its healthy, nutritional properties.

The myth green tea will be a great aid in weight loss goes hand and hand with the myth 5 meals a day places your metabolism in overdrive.

Tea for Health

Now as for why is coffee not healthy for us even if it is DECAFFENATED why would anything be less healthy if you washed it first with chemicals. That is what they do to decaffenate coffee and tea. Avoid the toxic chemicals ... dont claim that you have to have your alkaloids that give you the rush along the way to causing poor heart health and making you fat. Here is a novel approach, instead of clinging to the coffee and cigarettes you learned to love at a more youthful time when you believed you were immortal, Drink African Red Bush Tea for all of its positive attributes. Notice I am not defending it saying it is not THAT BAD FOR ME BUT I JUST LOVE IT AND AM ADDICTED TO IT. It is scientifically proven to be the most healthful plant with more anti-aging properties than anything known to man. Thats right more antioxidants than even Green Tea and since African Red Bush Tea is naturally without caffeine it is also heart healthy. It has 50% more antioxidants than Green Tea and a group of Japanese Gerentologists in a study named it as having MORE ANTI-AGING PROPERTIES THAN ANY PLANT KNOWN TO MAN. Now for all you folks that just love the taste of coffee. I drank it in large quantities for years and my doctor told me to kick the coffee so I did. Giving up my espresso machine was not what I wanted to do. I am really glad that I have discovered African Red Bush Tea though, it is also called Rooibos Tea. Do yourself a favor and Google African Red Bush Tea. You can purchase it in many retail establishments like Starbucks I buy mine online for a cheaper price but it is a part of my health regeime now and my mom even gives her Standard Poodle African Red Bush Tea in his water bowl for health reasons instead of plain water. He drinks it down moreso than water so obviously does him good. For those of you who actually read about it and buy a box of it to try, you will be glad.:party::party::party::party::party::party::party::party::party:

Green Tea has caffeine to increase our metabolism. For the beginning, drink 1-2 cup a day. If you can sleep well at night, you can then see if you can increase the intake of green tea.

Because somehow I cannot sleep at night because of the caffeine in green tea at the very beginning.

Green Tea has caffeine to increase our metabolism.

No, it doesn't.

Effect of green tea on resting energy expenditure and substrate oxidation during weight loss in overweight females.

, , , , .

Maastricht University, Maastricht, The Netherlands. K.Diepvens@HB.Unimaas.NL

We assessed the effect of ingestion of green tea (GT) extract along with a low-energy diet (LED) on resting energy expenditure (REE), substrate oxidation and body weight as GT has been shown to increase energy expenditure and fat oxidation in the short term in both animals and people. Forty-six overweight women (BMI 27.6 (sd 1.8) kg/m2) were fed in energy balance from day 1 to day 3, followed by a LED with GT (1125 mg tea catechins +225 mg caffeine/d) or placebo (PLAC) from day 4 to day 87. Caffeine intake was standardised to 300 mg/d. Energy expenditure was measured on days 4 and 32. Reductions in weight (4.19 (sd 2.0) kg PLAC, 4.21 (sd 2.7) kg GT), BMI, waist:hip ratio, fat mass and fat-free mass were not statistically different between treatments. REE as a function of fat-free mass and fat mass was significantly reduced over 32 d in the PLAC group (P<0.05) but not in the GT group. Dietary restraint increased over time (P<0.001) in both groups, whereas disinhibition and general hunger decreased (P<0.05). The GT group became more hungry over time and less thirsty, and showed increased prospective food consumption compared with PLAC (P<0.05). Taken together, the ingestion of GT along with a LED had no additional benefit for any measures of body weight or body composition. Although the decrease in REE as a function of fat-free mass and fat mass was not significant with GT treatment, whereas it was with PLAC treatment, no significant effect of treatment over time was seen, suggesting that a robust limitation of REE reduction during a LED was not achieved by GT.

Weight loss will not be significantly affected by any amount of green tea a person consumes. This is just one of many studies that prove this.

I drink green tea with apple and pear, not for weight loss because I know now it doesn't work, but just because it's yummy and it's good for you. Mm.

Green Tea

Hello everyone. To start off, I use to be a pretty fit person, flat stomache and decent sized muscles. But about a year ago I injured my leg and it was in a cast. This cast restricted my daily activities and forced me to be couped up inside the house for most of my summer. I stopped working out and playing sports and before i realised it (after winter) my muscles had turned soft and i was growing a belly. I am too busy to begin working out again so i havent started yet. However, i read that Green Tea can help you lose weight and i've thought about going out to get some but i dont know what too look for. Ive seen Tetley & Lipton's Pure & Decaffinated Green Tea but im not too sure if that's the right stuff. So basically i want to know if anyone here has had any good weight loss experience with Tetley and Lipton brand green tea.

Honestly...there probably is a slight difference, but you should be good....I drink GREEN TEA everyday and they ALL have the ANTIOXIDANTS that help boost! :) Good LUCK on your JOURNEY! :)

I love green tea and the health benefits are very well documented. Of all the "Supplements" out there. A glass of green tea may be among the very best one could take.

However, It is not a magical weight loss aid. It will not help weight loss beyond that of a negligible amount. That which a scientist would find intriguing in a laboratory, although. But not an amount the average person would care about.

Now, I always suggest organic green tea. I wouldn't drink it any other way.

How you sweeten the tea is up to you. I personally use Stevia.

I love green tea and I have drank Tetley brand in the past and liked it. Tried the lipton and didn't like it much, I personally drink tazo green teas. You can find them in the grocery stores and they are pretty good.

i agree with basically everyone else. As a weight loss tool you probably wont see a huge difference.... but it tastes good, and may boost your metabolism a bit and is full of anti-oxidents. And stevia is low in calories right??

Thanks for all the feedback.

So i went out and bought a case of Lipton green tea (100 bags) and ive began drinking green tea after every meal (i usually wait 15-20 minutes for it too cool down). I was just wondering, do i have to change my eating habits to help with the weight loss? How long must i keep drinking the green tea before i start seeing results? My green tea has a brownish-yellow color, is this normal? Lastly, ive heard that adding too much water to the tea bag makes the tea weaker and therefore dosnt help burn fat, is this true?

green tea is not going to help you lose weight by itself. The metabolism boosting effects are very mininal. You must create a calorie deficit through increased activity/restrcited diet. the stickies in this forum should help you create a weight loss plan for yourself

diluting anything with water lower its concentration in a given serving size. but if you bought tea bags its different. you can put as much water as you want in it. I think adding more water would actually be better becasue a) you would get water in your system which is always good, and b) you can extract more tea from the tea bag

The beverage green tea is a "true" tea that has undergone minimal oxidation during processing.

Green tea is popular in China, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong,Morocco, and the Middle East. Recently, it has become more widespread in the West, where traditionally black tea is consumed.

Medicinal properties of Green Tea in details can be found at following address.

Were you actually serious in asking this question?

What are your current eating habits?
