Gothika's Diary

hey G-girl,

What is IBS?? (sorry if that is a dumb question. Not good with abbrevations)

I think you did well today. Don't be so terribly hard on yourself. I mean you could have had way more than 2 slices and you exercised so turn that frown up side down:) !

I hope your stomache feels better tomorrow or as soon as possible! *HUGS* Remember to keep your chin up ;) and you'll do fine this week!

Thanks Kallie, I have a whole wheat bagel or bread and not every day.

Jodee- I probably should stop having it and I would loose weight faster and I know is not good for me, but if I cut so much off my diet and loose the weight fast, I am going to gain it right back and more.

I went through that when I did the Atkins diet. I lost weight fast, 2-3 months I went from size 14 to 6. At that time I was trying to fit into a dress. i was maid of honor for my sister's wedding, but as soon as the wedding was over I gained all the weight back and more.

Thanks for your advice. :)

I know that is frustrating when you gain back the weight and more. Been there done that. A little story for you....My Aunt gave up all bread products and substituted it for Wasa Biscuits. She lost 35lbs in 4 months. She couldn't believe it. She kept it off for 2 years then decided to include bread in her daily breakfast menu and guess what>>>she packed back on the 35lbs and then some. She has decided once again that she is giving up bread again. Once in a while it is okay as long as it is a whole grain bread but totally stay away from the white and whole wheat bread. I know it is hard, because it is hard for me to do that. I love bread. Also I found I gained weight too because I was addicted to Tim Hortons Half English Toffee/Half Coffee. OMG that was way fattening. But I kicked that habit. Haven't touched that in over a year. :D Gothika, you are doing awesome. Don't feel down about the 2 slices of pizza. Hold your chin up high and carry on with your goals. Don't kick yourself for slipping. Just let it slide. Take care.

IBS: Irritable Bowel Syndrome

I suffer from it too when I eat greasy food. Just keep chugging the water, it's the only thing that helps me. :)

even with the two slices of pizza you didn't do bad. I'm jealous, because I've been craving pizza! As good as you are about sticking to your diet and exercise, I wouldn't sweat eating that pizza. I tried the smoothie recipe that you suggested, it turned out GREAT.

I hope you are feeling better today

Hey there girl,

First off I hope that your feeling better now. Pizza messes me up to and I also suffer from IBS, it runs in my family. Drinking lots of water was a good comeback to combat it btw. I also admire that your taking your weight loss slow and steady this time around. Overall, it's so much better for your body. At times it can be so hard to eat right especially in an office setting or any workplace where at times you have no control on what foods you come across. I hope that your feeling lots better and it seems like your putting yourself back on track. HUGS your doing good!

Hello! Thanks for stoping by. I am feeling better this morning, just tired. I skipped exercise yesterdays since I was not feeling up to it and I did not have time. I went to the doctor last night and it turned out my pressure was borderline high. I do not have a history of high blood pressure, so I am hoping is just the heat. Yesterday the temperature was on the high 90s but it felt like 110. I hope I regain some energy today, so I can work out.

Food for yesterday:

plain bagel w/jelly, coffee
1 banana

chicken salad

grilled chicken wrap with honey mustard, lettuce, tomatoes and cheese.

H2O

Well you sure did good yesterday! Its funny, I took the day off from exercise too, we need it once in a while. I hope you feel better today and can shake off that tiredness. I wonder if that high blood pressure can make you feel tired?

Hey there girl,

I can totally understand not wanting to exercise in this heat, yesterday it hit 95 here with the humidty at 85%. It made it impossible for me to do my normal walk. I hope that your headache is gone today. Hugs xxx ooo

Hey,
I am new here and am just looking around at different journals. I want to let you know that I work full time and go to school full time for my masters. I think that being so busy all of the time has really helped in my weight gain and so it has always been an excuse for me not getting fit, but reading your journal has helped me get focused. I am really happy to find that you are doing so well even if you are very very busy.

Looking good! I see you had one of those smoothies yesterday, I had one for breakfast today! I'm glad you turned me on to those.

Hi gothika, just read through your journal and I can totally sympathize with you as I suffer from hypothyroidism as well. It can wreak such havoc with your metabolism. Does your doctor have you on medication, like Synthroid?

I think you're doing great though. Getting in your walking and being consistent with your food...these are the steps to success and you are taking them. Keep it up!!!

Morning gothika, thought I'd answer your question from my diary here in yours.

I'm on Synthroid, but I think that and Levoxyl are all just brand names for the actual drug which is levothyroxine if I remember correctly...I have been taking it for about ten years or so. And you know just in the past year or so I've been experiencing the being cold thing. It's never happened before.

My doctor has pretty much got me on a good dosage and my TSH level has been pretty good for several years. I only get it checked once a year. But I know the struggles that go along with it!!!! You've just got to stay on top of your doctor until you get on a dosage that keeps you normal.

It sounds like right now, if you're really tired all the time maybe your dosage isn't enough. I'll be interested to hear how your progress goes.

have a great day!!!

Hey Gothika! We really need to start us a "struggling with hypothyroidism" support group! ROFL! My endo said that the synthroid and the levoxyl were pretty much the same too. But he did say that sometimes the doses varied from one brand to the other, so you shouldn't take a dose from one brand and then switch to the same dose in another brand without your doctor switching you and testing your blood. I used to always have to watch my pharmacy when I would get a new prescription cause they would give me the generic stuff (levothroid ?) instead of synthroid so I would have to take it back and exchange it. I really don't think I am having much luck with my synthroid, although most people do. I still have all the symptoms (such as being tired all the time) even when my TSH levels are normal and my levels just keep going up and down. The synthroid is only a T4 and your thyroid is normally supposed to make T4 and T3, so I am also taking cytomel which is a T3. It is usually hard to find a doctor who will give you that. I really am about ready to take one of those natural thyroid replacements if I can find a doctor who will give it to me and I don't care what it is made of! Lol!

I have a really bizarre question for the thyroid problem. Can't it just be removed????? I know several people who have had their thyroid removed and they are doing okay. My Uncle had an overactive thyroid which was causing health problems and I believe that he had his removed. I am unclear on this condition.

Hi Jodee, My sister had hers removed to. I believe you can remove them if it is over active but not under active.

Hypo, I agree with you we should start a forum.

It can be removed. I have discussed having mine removed with my doctor because mine swells alot. It is dangerous to have it removed because of the location of it and there is the danger of damaging your vocal cords. Also, even if it is removed, there is still the problem of needing the thyroid replacement meds that we are already taking due to the hypothyroidism (or underactive thyroid problem), so removing it doesn't really help any with this problem but may help those who have an overactive one or who have thyroid cancer.
