Going Down Together Club

I was active as a young child, I used to like climbing on the rocks by the beach on holiday, and I used to bike and rollerboot, but once I got into high school that all changed. I wasn't much of a joiner either. I was a brownie but didn't get one badge!! I was very shy and just didn't go in for stuff. I think if my parents had encouraged me to join groups and do stuff after school, I wouldn't have started my after school pig-outs, and might not have put the weight on in the first place. That is my main problem .... eating from boredom.

Hi everyone. I just signed up on the forum. This looks like a great group of women. ;) I am 25, work pt as a nanny 2 days a week, and have a 2 y/o son and 6 y/o daughter. I would like to lose about 30 or so pounds and can use all the help I can get! I would love to find a buddy to keep me accountable and if I can help some of you out in the process that would be great.

I was reading through all of your posts so would like to add a bit of my own. I live in Chantilly VA (prob within 10 min of summerbreeze!) I was a cheerleader when I was younger but was always the big girl at the bottom of all the stunts lol. I was never really fat, just never thin, until I got pregnant with my daughter. I gained about 50 pounds with my pregnancies and haven't been able to stick with any weightloss routine. I eat when I'm bored, upset, happy, to celebrate, just about anytime anything happens. Also, I give up on exercise so easily, as soon as I have a week without a weight loss I quit.

Well thats enough for now before I write my whole life story and go on and on about everything. :p

Welcome Lazyone!! If there is one thing this forum has got a lot of (apart from great people, that is;) ) its motivation. I have found it invaluable so far, and its only my first week!

You may want to start a diary, it is great for putting down your feelings and keeping track of your diet and exercise. And you can write as much as you like ... it is YOUR diary :) .

Have you considered doing an exercise ticker aswell as your weight one. Mine has really motivated me to get out there and get the miles done. I have also seen people do them for swimming, crunches and pilates ..... it works for anything;) .

Well, good luck, and I hope to see you around the forum.

Welcome Lazyone! This is my favorite place... hehehe. The support is awesome! And looks like you can use a bit :)

How about this..

Mrs Bear & Lazyone for buddies? :)

Hi!

Mrs Bear- An exercise ticker sounds like a great idea. I mainly do aerobic videos though and I don't really know how I could set it up to work for that. I guess I could just make it minutes or something, what do you think?

Also, a buddy would be wonderful! I need someone who won't feel bad poking me and reminding me to stay on track when I'm lazy or eat to much :p and I would love to help someone else out too.

Thanks to everyone for being so supportive.

welcome lazybones! yeah chantilly is soo close to me! prob 10 min like you said. you came to the right thread and i know exactly how you feel about the giving up part after not seeing results because its like "why am i doing all this work and not changing when i could do nothing and change" but truuust me when i say keeep pushing it because i've been at a plateau for 3 weeks now, and i'm just getting over it which is making me feel great and so glad that i stuck with it! keep it up girl!! maybe we can meet up and have a healthy lunch sometime ;)

xoxoxooxox

Thanks for the encouragement breezy! You definately hit it on the head when you said hi lazybones. :p
I think this forum is exactly the place for me and I'm so happy I found it. I wasn't losing weight and after 3 days on here I already lost a couple pounds. Well maybe not all only in the past 3 days but I wasn't going anywhere in the past couple weeks. I just couldn't break through 170 and I come on here and everyone is so positive and the progress everyones made is so encouraging. Ok I'm just going on and on.
I will definately stick to it. I'm not quitting this time. I don't care if it takes me a year to reach my goal its going to happen! :D
It would be interesting to meet up sometime, since no one in my real life knows any of these things about me. I keep all of it to myself this is the only place I share. :)

Me and lazyone buddies? Sounds like a great idea!! I will give you a jab to get exercising, if you reprimand me if I binge ..... deal?

Having said that, I have been baaaaaad today. Meal out, dessert, and baking this evening. Aaahhh!! . Must try harder tomorrow!

What you might want to do for your ticker is work out how many times you want to do your aerobics video on average in a week, and maybe multiply by 4 for a month. Or you could pick a date, say thanksgiving, and say, I want to do aerobics x number of times by then.

Ok girls. Lecture from Momma :p Shame on you! I know you can do so much better... so start doing it! Is eating that desert... eathing that food... more valuable to you then your own health and happyess? Yes it brings momentary happyness.. that cookie... or baked good... but long term? Nope. You know you will be happy if you be good and lose weight. Longterm happyness :p Stop selling yourselves short!

This is not a diet.. its a lifestyle. Let me share a little bit with you guys on a theory I have.

Food looses its meaning due to over exposure and abuse. Meaning the more you enjoy something, the less you will enjoy it next time.

How?

When I was younger, Ice Cream was a huge treat. One of those special moments in my life where the world stopped and it weas me and my ice cream... my eyes would shine, I would squeal and joy would set in when I finally realised yes.. indeed.. my parents had gone off their rocker and got me ice cream. As I grew older, and went out by myself.. I started to sneak buying ice cream and junkfood... not all the time.. but more often. I still looked forward to it.. but it was not special anymore. And then came the day my mother started buying buckets of ice cream for the house. It was then ice cream lost most everything for me. Yes it sure tasted good, and it tasted really good when it was forbidden too.. but it tasted the best... when it was a special reward.. when it was sacred.

Abusing food, in the end will not bring as much happyness as it can. If you want a peice of cake... save it for your anniversary or birthday. If you want ice cream.. save it for that one day in the summer where you are dying of heat stroke... moaning and cursing and wishing for rain.

In the end... 'dieting' is just a persute for happyness. We want to look good, feel good and be healthy. And we are happy when we are.

Don't sell happyness short for a quick fix. It isn't worth it. Reclaim things as special. Don't give in.

Avi, your story is true in many ways for me also. I'm so glad that we have you here. That scolding is just what we need :p . I just want to say keep up the good work, the 61 pounds you've lost proves your doing great! Thanks for the inspirational words.

As for Mrs B :p - I would love to help you anyway I possibly can. I will be your "dieting" forum stalker. I'm watching you always. :D Also, thanks for the ideas for a ticker. Maybe I will try a month one, that should be great encouragement to get that exercise in. Plus seeing all of you get in your exercise should kick my butt off the couch more often. ;)

Thanks Avi, you are so right. It is like when I binge on ice cream, it is only the first taste that is good, after that it is just mindless. And I feel lousy today after yesterday. Headachy and a bit queasy, I think its dehydration so I am drinking for England (sure to be followed by peeing for England!!:D ) Thanks for your motivational words, and at my sister's today I will eat 'naughty' foods (chips, cake and ice cream) but I am determined to have a normal amount of food ... no seconds!! I will be soooooo glad when all these celebrations are behind me and I can really get with the program for long enough for it to become habit, and become my lifestyle!

And Alicia (tell me if you'd rather I used your username  ), great going getting your ticker, we will have to keep a close eye on each others!:D And please ignore my question about it in a post I did 2 mins ago before I read this one  !

Hi guys...happy Monday. I just posted on FSD..I know we are a bit of the same people on both threads...and I posted my rant about the party. This is a new day..fresh day...need to stop feeling so darned bloated....

Drink water girl! :) I did 220 stomach crunches yesterday as payment for my weekend of birthday cake (icing removed.. I wasen't that that bad) (I also gave the rest of the cake away to keep me from continuing) And now my stomach muscles are a bit tender.. lol. Buyt I am sure in a couple days my stomach will look nicer!! I am gona tone up for my belly button ring!! Had a really good supper last night.. like a 8 oz steak.. broiled.. and steamed broccoli + carrots, and a small salad. No starch. :) Good meal. I had my starch for lunch.. a tuna+cheese melt sandwich. But I was a bad girl and slept in too late to have breakfast.

Great going on your crunches Avi!! You must have abs of steel! Well done on the cake front ... over my birthday I have given away a big box of chocs, and refused 3 bars of choc from my sister. Its hard, but its worth it! (Still ate two piece of choc cake though!!)

Keep up the good work. ;)

I am gonna have cake 1 more day... and thats it. And that wil be Thursday, when I go to the seniors centre for lunch. Its their monthly birthday day, and I am positive a mob of little old ldies and men will force it upon me! But I will also pay for that in crunches or walking or something. :)

Hmm.. if nobody minds.. I am thinking of mixing up the buddies a bit.. ;) Anybody mind? Was thinking it could be fun to change them around and get to know someone else better :)

ah stop talking about cake i'm getting so hungry! lol

yesterday i ate healthy ALL DAY including dinner (even though i was at someone's house for a bbq--only chicken and salad for me) but then they whipped out these gorgeously huge brownies and microwaved them up to be all gooey. you guys, i'm not even sorry. it was the most delicious thing i have ever eaten and not worth it but still so good. my cal intake with that brownie only amounted to around 1500 still so i'm not traumatized.

my dad's leaving to go out of town for 2 1/2 weeks and i'll be home alone so dinner will turn into south beach diet meals and lean cuisine meals mmm can't wait, so yummyyy!! i'll also try to make the fish my dad usually makes and heat up some veggies. i'm so excited to venture into the world of healthy cooking, or even cooking for that matter lol. you guys will need to help me out with some simple recipes!

need help...for getting a flat stomach, i know they say to do stomach exercises, but then don't they also say that you can do as many stomach exercises as you want, but no one will see the muscle through all that fat? so is it better to just keep doing intense cardio or to do intense stomach exercises...what are ya'll doing. i need to get this tummy to tighten up if i want that belly button ring!

Stomach crunches :D Its what you need girl. will help burn fat in that area too.

I thought stomach crunches would only work the muscles and that spot reducing didn't work?

Then again, maybe I'm totally off..
