Well critical thinking isnt a universal trait ;)

Dont forget that there are many, and i mean many, nonbelievers that are classified as christian.

Lol, why let the truth stand in the way of a joke though? :p
He did score low in the test though and struggled at school early in his life which he later put down to Dyslexia

Religion is BS in my opinion. It was just something made up to make an excuse to say "this was how the world was made". The bible says the world was created 5000 years ago but science has proved it's been around for billions of years. I believe there is no 'higher power'. We and the rest of the world evolved imo.

in particular, i found it funny when a christian university were displaying dinosoar fossils as 5000 years old, now that is absurd  :D

Where are all you atheists in real life? I don't know any in person

Everyone around me is pretty much a christian of sorts. At the very most I think I might know a couple agnostics.

It's probably just based on where you live. In the UK there aren't really many heavy Christian believers around, especially in the South. I imagine there would be less in the East of the US than the South West for obvious reasons

I think most of the people posting here are still from places like the UK (daytime) and Australia (late evening) rather the the US who are just settling into work. The US are probably one of the last strong Christian countries left on the planet.

Wait until the Americans arrive!

Ah, that explains it.

That's what I was thinking. However looking at the times of posts, and bearing in mind the **** easter thread, which is similar to this, has a similar list of opinions, I haven't really seen any evidence of Americans being more religious/defensive. Easter holidays for me, so I'm just sitting on this site while doing ICT coursework. The joys of childhood.

My feeling is that humans, and everything on the planet is far, far too complex for it all to simply be a mistake or a conincidence. The mere fact that we're sentient is enough for me. Thoughs, emotions, love... these things are far too powerful to simply happen by accident. There has to be someone that oversaw it all.

Just my two cents. Take it or leave it, that's what I believe.

A lot of people seem to be in the "statistics" crowd...like they'll say that the probability that everything came together was 1 in 3094365341908573458976134897! (factorial) or something like this...

Well, if you subscribe to the closed universe theory, in which the universe expands and contracts like a heartbeat, this could be the nth number of time, the only time in the 3094365341908573458976134897! that everything has gone right...

And then there's the whole infinite universes with infinite possibilities...

Also, listen to the lecture I posted on page 2, you heathens.

I dont get people who say its so complex that there must be some higher power. Its all pretty much simple math, physics. Oh, and not to mention evolution. Alright, now, we are friggin complicated, but its really quite simple. We are put together by MANY simple factors, together they make it complicated. These many factors were put together by evolution, like feelings, thoughts, stuff like that. We have them now because once we attained them and they gave us an advantage, thus, those who had them survived.

And evolution is proved isent it? A mutation is evolution, thats actually happened, though the mutationes dident give any advantages, so they dident stick. I belive in evolution, what im not sure about, is how life started, the first single celled organisms. Theres just too much evidence to support evolution for me not to belive in it.
