I personally think this thread has had it's day now but before I leave I just wanted to say that Although I don't believe in God I have nothing against Christians.
I have great respect for many Christians I've known over the years. The ones I respected were the ones who;

1) Don't mind the Bible or their faith being questioned. In fact they often question their own faith regularly and with an open mind because they know that God wouldn't value a blind sheep very highly

2) Accept that athiests aren't lacking a moral compass, we can be perfectly nice people without the 10 commandments. (who also don't have meaningless lives)

3) Don't try and convert us against our will in the street or at parties.

If you're a Christian that falls into that category then big respect goes out to you :)

If you're the guy that tells me I'm going to hell through a megaphone as I'm walking to work in the morning then f#*k off

Funny, I've always kindof felt sorry for people who believed in god. Kindof like they needed something to make their lives meaningful cause they couldn't do so themselves.

But that's me and quite honestly I don't really care what other people believe in. I was an atheist before I even knew that there was a word to describe not having faith. Everybody I knew while I was growing up believed in god and somehow by myself I came to the conclusion that there was no god. It doesn't get much more real than that for me. It feels good to know that I'm alone too. That probably sounds odd to some but it's nice to know that it's just me and whatever it is that I choose to make out of life :) To me that's zen.

I only started really getting "in touch" with god a few months ago. Before that i was living a very meaningful life. I was doing great in school, had a great highschool football career in front of me, and i knew what i wanted in life. Just because people believe in God doesn't mean they're life sucks so they turn to god. I really cant think of anybody i personally know that is like that.

Everybody gets to choose what to make their life out of also. Just because we believe in god doesn't mean we have to go down a certain path in life. God doesn't make us do anything.

Jake - My comment was related to what 2hott4u had said about her life being meaningless without god.

And I stand behind my comment. MY PERSONAL life is meaningless. I didn't mean to say or imply that anyone who doesn't have Christ in their lives has a meaning-less life. I am sure that there are many people who have meaningful lives without believing, you included. That's their choice. Do I run around town yelling to non-Christians that they will go to hell? No. It's their choice to believe or not. Am I friends with non-Christians? Yes. But I have more in common with those who ARE Christian.

I still question my beliefs from time to time. Through life, we experience different things, thereby changing the way we feel about things, faith included.

As Allen said, it's hard to explain to non-believers about our beliefs because no matter what we say, they cannot comprehend it. And that makes me sad.

The terrorists think they are going to Allah. I think I'm going to God. I dont' believe for one minute that what they do is right. Terrorists suck. They say they are doing what they do in the name of "allah". F*ck them. I believe in God, but I am not about to start a war bc of it.

I too, think this thread has had its day. All I can say, is if all the non believers from all eternity, are going to hell, then hell will be a lot less lonely than heaven.

I'm not gonna lock the thread because people will bring this topic into other threads. If you don't like this thread, or are getting tired of it, quit posting in it. And soon enough it will fade away..

Not for me it wouldn't. I know it from experience.

Yes it would. because what i meant was that that if we KNEW god was real you would feel that, and that very same comfort you would feel if you had faith in him and beleived in him yet he did not exist.

Yeah, I was wondering why someone would keep on interrupting a conversation to say they are no longer interested in the topic at hand.
