Prefix for Cohen's Lifestyle
Hey Cate! Well I took a chloramaine pill. It's a tiny yellow pill for flu and it did wonders. I'm feeling so much better today. In fact I felt better within hours of taking it that I went out with my hubby. We had coffee at Dome and then went to watch Sex and The City. After the movie we had dinner at MacD and then went to an Irish pub. I didn't deviate of course. I packed my crackers, dinner and bought a honey mango to eat at the cinema with a bottle of perrier. and then at the Irish pub, I ordered a pint of soda water (yes I got a weird look from the waiter but i didn't care). Hubby had a Fillet-o-fish meal at MacD while I had my pan-fried whiting with curried caulis. I'm getting used to the weird stares people give me when I take out my meal box. hmm, perhaps i should get a funky meal box..haha! trying to find some humour there...anyways, it's a lovely saturday morning...i'm making plans for our 2nd wedding anniversary which is a week away. For once we are not thinking of restaurants...we're thinking of doing something meaningful. Anyways, meals update

brekky- egg with stir fried tomato, cabbage and mushrooms
lunch- stir fried prawns with green leafy veg
dinner- chicken and caulis soup

I'm out at a stadium while I'm tying this. My hubby wanted me to accompany him on his morning jog. I prefer to exercise at a gym. I've got to think of incoporating some time for exercise in my routine soon. It's the mid year sales period and perhaps i should look out for a cross trainer. Hmm weight wise I dropped 200 grams. I'm wondering if I should change the order of my meals to trick my body into loosing more weight. Read that in another forum. Ooh I just turned back for a stretch and there are people doing tai chi. Got to go now. Hubby is coming in for his last round.

Plenty of time for that in maintenance I think Georgina. Exercise can make you very hungry. You are not eating much energy-wise(ie calories/kilojoules) whilst on the program to sustain anything too energetic. Getting fit could be your next project when you get to your goal weight.

Early days yet sweets. If you do reach a plateau then it might be a good idea but I reckon "If it ain't broke don't fix it". You're doing well. Just go with the flow & enjoy it. Keep that option up your sleeve for when you're getting closer to goal perhaps. I used to swap them about for convenience sometimes.
Bye sweets, xoxo Cate

thanks cate. I'll be patient and enjoy my programme for now.
I went shopping for clothes and it felt soo good. I didn't want to try on any clothes at the shop. What I wanted to do was to buy clothes that I would have fit into when I was at 55kg years ago and then motivate myself to loose weight to fit into them. I picked a cool black top in a size L so that I can fit into it in about a couple of weeks. My hubby told me to go for an M instead and so i bought the M, aiming to fit into that my august. Guess what? I can already fit into an M! haha...that felt so good! haven't bought a top in size M in ages....anyways, meals update

brekky- omelette (only coz i ran out of cheese and yogurt)
lunch- grilled rosemary chicken and mixed veg (caulis, tomatoes and mushrooms)
dinner- fish soup with kailan

1/3 down, 2/3 to go

Good day everyone!
I was so tired after work yesterday...monday blues....i didn't go shopping for veggies and yogurt as i had planned...so this morning i had to make do with an egg for brekky...lunch's my favourite, stir-fried beef with garlic. made some caulis to go along with that. and hopefully for dinner, i'll be able to get some prawns...getting sick of the whiting fillets....today i'm very happy....i've lost exactly 10kgs!
i never thought this would be possible...just eating my way to weight loss...got to go now..be back later...Have an awesome day!

Wee Hoo!!!!
Well done Georgina!!!!!
You are blitzing this!!
xoxoxo Cate

thanks cate!
I finally stopped by at the supermarket to get fruits and cheese...the veggies didn't look that good yesterday. I had some yogurt for brekky this morning and needless to say i was hungry within an hour. I don't really like mixing my fruits with yogurt coz i like to have my fruits after a meal...besides, i've run out of mangoes...tomorrow i'll probably do cheese and tomatoes with crackers for brekky. that always keeps me full for at least 3 hours. nothing much happening today...i'm gonna make myself a curried panfried chicken with caulis for lunch...and for dinner i'm gonna do chinese...steamed fish with ginger and garlic and kailan...

Good morning all! I simply could not roll myself off my bed this morning. I am feeling very tired. All I want to do is just sleep in bed...so needless to say I didn't have much time to cut up the cheese and weigh my veggies for brekky. so i had a yogurt instead. Lunch's all packed though. anyway, one last day at work today before i get 2 weeks to myself. :smilielol5:
When I walked into my office this morning, there was an invitation to lunch at mall by one of the other departments. It's not a compulsory lunch meeting though. Hence, I told my colleague I won't be joining them as I had already brought my lunch from home. You guys remember that nasty lab attendant who said I had put on weight despite cutting down on my food portions? well she struck again! this time, she played a different tune. She admitted that I've lost alot of weight. I just smiled at her. Then she asked if I was going for that lunch meeting and i said no. She then tried to talk her way into getting me to have "just 2 spoonsful of rice with vegetables". I stuck to my stand and turned her down politely. And she simply would not back off! :banghead: In the end, i asked her if she's gonna answer my doctor should I get a massive headache from all that MSG from restaurant food! To which she had the audacity to ask me where my doctor was based! am i entitled to call her a b&&&&? I told her South Africa and she backed off...
I realise that I'm getting different reactions now...people are trying to be doctor quacks and are advising me to eat this and that....with that annoying lab attendant, i know it's jealousy...she's plain jealous of my weightloss...with the others (like my MIL & SSIL) I think they are trying to throw me off my path...testing waters...oh well, people are funny. But i'm thankful i have my parents and my hubby who till this day have not tempted or forced me to eat anything I didn't want to eat.

Hi Geo. I hope you're feeling a little better today. I'm sending you a big hug. I have a wretched cold but hopefully I'll be able to shake it soon. When your defences get down you get these things. My LH still has it but he's getting better slowly. I think you have the lab assistant, MIL, SIL all worked out really. Try feeling sorry for them & see if that helps you cope better with them. It's sad really that they try to sabotage you in your quest to be slim & healthy. Feeling sorry for them, rather than angry will help you deal with them. Think "Poor, tragic figures". Perhaps they do not feel good about themselves & want everyone else to be the same. I think you are doing really well so far Georgina & I'm sure you will get to your goal weight & be the slim, healthy person you deserve to be. I think it must be your wedding anniversary either today or over the week-end. Hope I haven't missed it. I hope you have a lovely day. Sending you lots of love, best wishes & moral support, my friend, xoxo Cate

hey cate! I hope you and your LH are feeling much better. I was at a wedding over the weekend (and i didn't deviate!) and one of the guests told me how she's gotten the 90-Day cold...apparently it's a medical term...have yet to google that..got reminded of that. it's my wedding anniversary tomorrow and we're gonna celebrate that at a french restuarant. I spent the last couple of days sourcing for a restaurant that would cook my cohen meal and i was glad to find one. I gave them my allowances for the meal (gonna go for the beef allowance) and told them all the cannot-haves and the can-haves...the chef called me about an hour ago to confirm what he's gonna do. He was sympathetic that he couldn't make me a rich french fare....told him not to worry about that and the best was to do what he could with the allowances and the requirements. Never in my dreams did i think i would be able to find a restaurant that would cater to my needs. it's gonna be a lean beef steak, fresh salad (no dressing) and fruit salad. i know that doesn't sound french at all but i don't want any deviations. My hubby of course is gonna have the full works...foie gras, creme brulee etc...that's not gonna tempt me.
tomorrow i'm gonna have to babysit my niece as my SIL has to undergo a treatment for thyroid. she's gonna be injected with iodine which by the way is radioactive, according to her that is. so my niece can't be in contact with her. so morning and afternoon we're gonna babysit and then off to dinner at night when my BIL takes over. my PIL are on a short holiday. they would be back tomorrow night...so i do hope all goes well...gonna prepare my dinner now...stir-fried pressed tofu with pak choy....decided to do vegetarian just for the fun of it...

Happy Anniversary to you,
Happy Anniversary to you,
Happy Anniversary dear Georgina,
Happy Anniversary to you!
Well done you on organising a special night out. :hurray:
Didn't think you would be able to, hey?
Have a lovely evening Georgina. You deserve it. You are focussed & going really well. Be proud of yourself! :)
xoxoxoxo Cate.

Hey cate! Thanks for the wishes. That was very sweet of you.
I was rather busy yesterday and today babysitting our niece.
anyways, dinner at the french restaurant was beautiful. The chef did as instructed, lean beef steak with grilled tomatoes, caulis and asparagus. served with red wine vinegar on the sides. I truly enjoyed my meal. That was served with sparkling water for me. My hubby had the full works. Foie gras, mushroom soup, beef goulash, red wine, creme brulee. My dessert was a platter of fresh fruits, slivers of mango with about 1/2 an apple and 1/4 orange. I was truly impressed. It felt like a homecooked cohen's meal. I wanted to personally thank the chef but he had gone home as soon as i was done with my main (and only) course. My take is this, i think when we tell people that we're on a medical diet, they really take us seriously. I had told the chef that the portion sizes must not be altered as they are medical requirements. And what i instructed was what i got. The steak itself was marinated with only pepper and salt. and it was low on salt. I could tell that the crew at the restaurant was really careful and serious. I didn't mind having to pay a price for the customised dinner. But at least I know that I can trust this chef and I could dine here while I am still on the programme.
anyways, i'm all beat after babysitting an active and talkative 3 year old. I'm gonna hit the sack soon.

Hi Georgina, You have proven to everyone that it can be done. I'm so glad you had a lovely evening with your husband. That's gold! :beating:
I'm really enjoying your journey, xoxo Cate

nothing much to say today except that the headaches are back...sigh...gonna drink lots of water and hope that'll go away. Meals wise

Brekky- Mushroom omelette
Lunch- Beef steak with stir fried spinach
Dinner- Grilled fish with pak choy

Did some marketing today. Ended up buying way too much food. But that's alright. I've weighed and packed them into Meal 2 and Meal 3 portions. I've got fish, prawns, chicken and some crabmeat for next week. I hope everyone's doing fine...it's a lazy day here for me. I think I might wanna catch a movie today...

I woke up to a beautiful saturday morning! birds chirping...clear blue sky...i sound like a romantic comedy...but i treasure beautiful mornings as most of the times i wake up irritated coz i've got to go to work...i'm on holiday this week. anyway, I'm hosting a Fathers' Day lunch tomorrow. I'll be leaving very shortly to the market. Here's what i've planned to cook for my guest

Pasta (aglio oglio)
roasted chicken
grilled pork spare ribs
potato salad
fresh fruits (dessert)
tiramisu (tea)

Here's what I intend to cook for myself tomorrow
stir fried pak choy
grilled chicken

had i known that there are places that i can trust to cook me a cohen meal, i would not be hosting the lunch. but then again, I'd rather take precautions esp with people like my SSIL.
Went out with my PIL and my parents yesterday across the border to do some shopping. I of course packed my lunch with me. So while the rest had chicken rice (my treat to them) I happily ate my grilled prawns and bok choy. No one said anything. MIL commented to hubby that i've lost a lot of weight. She is now convinced that I've got lots of willpower. (ha!) She did try her best to get me to have some light tiffin for tea. I of course had my crackers to go along with black tea. since my mum was there, she didn't insist as my mum told her that she never likes to force me to eat anything. hohoho! okay got to go now. hubby thinks it's time for some tv because i'm here typing this. MEN!

Hi Georgina, Happy Sunny, Bird-Chirping Saturday to you! You're not a romantic comedy, just a romantic & there's absolutely nothing wrong with that! Enjoy your week-end sweets, xoxo Cate.
PS The meals for you sound much nicer to me. Please don't take offence at that. I shudder at starchy carb food now & fat, especially pork. I just read carbs, carbs, fat. Now Tiramisu(means pick me up) is quite another thing! It makes me think YUM! My brain has been fairly well washed but sweets still talk to me loudly! LOL. I almost always feel awful after eating them though, so rarely do.
Mwah! Cate.

hey cate dear, i take no offence. As much as I had wanted to serve a healthy lunch, I simply couldn't as I know it will not go down well with my guests. Old habits. Actually, this is a whole lot lighter in calories than what they are used to eating! can you imagine that? makes me wanna puke typing it. So this is my best. anyway, I just got back from the market. Kinda feeling troubled now. My hubby was having his breakfast at a coffee shop near the market and I ordered myself a diet cola (this coffee shop doesn't have good black coffee or tea). A friend of mine walked by and she stopped over to talk. She was appalled that I was drinking diet cola. She frightened me saying artificial sweeteners cause cancer. I'm kinda worried. Especially since i'm allowed 1 litre of diet drinks..of course I don't indulge in a litre of diet sodas every day. But I'm a little troubled. Another quesion, which is better, Coke Light or Coke Zero? I wanna find out what's the difference between them.

wheehee! i can finally relax now. It was a tiring day. Luckily I prepared the dessert and the tajine last night. I woke up later than planned and so I had to hurry cooking lunch for my folks and his. Everything went on great. I wasn't confident about the taste and the amount of seasoning in each dish hence I left the salt and pepper shakers on the table for my guests to help themselves. To my surprise, my estimation was good! Nobody needed more salt or pepper..
I had my grilled fish and mushrooms. I didn't feel like having chicken although it's my favourite. Felt that my body wanted something lighter on this hot day. And while my guests had tiramisu, I had a fat, juicy indian mango puree which I had in an elegant teacup so that I won't look out of place..LOL! My mum wanted to try the puree!
My MIL was helpful today. She bought me 1 kilo of prawns. I stuck it in the freezer for I was busy preparing lunch. I'll probably weigh and pack those tomorrow.
Now, i'm still troubled over the coke light and coke zero debate. I think i'm gonna stick with soda water for now...but I'm really craving for some good ginger beer....i'll get over it i know.

Hi Geo, I think any Coke is bad but I also am going to stop drinking all "diet" drinks & stick to mineral water or soda water, perhaps with a dash of lemon from now on. I think Aspartame should be avoided & am going to try to in the future. "Food is our medicine."
Well done on getting through your day successfully, great hostess, you!
xoxo Cate

Good morning everyone. I read up about the whole diet drinks matter and yes aspartame is indeed bad. Apparently cancer causing. I'm keeping off diet drinks for good from now and that includes the articifial sweeteners I've been having with my decaf. I'll probably go for perrier and soda water. I like them except that perrier is a tad too costly here. It's gonna be TOM soon and the battle of the scales has begun. I usually weigh as much as 2 kgs heavier when i'm nearing TOM. This morning when I weighed myself I'm 500grammes heavier. But since I know that it's probably water retention, i'm not gonna panic. Besides, I just remembered that I didn't finish the water in my 1 litre water bottle yesterday. I think I only had slightly more than a 1 litre. oops too late.
Meals update:
Brekky- Yogurt with fresh mangoes
Lunch- Pan grilled threadfin with spinach
Dinner- Stir fried chicken with mushrooms and tomatoes

Oh I forgot to mention this yesterday. I seasoned the fish with a pinch of cumin powder and salt yesterday. It was good. I tried cumin for the first time yesterday and boy it was good. I love the aroma of cumin. I'll probably try and venture other spices.
