Hi drul due to summer vacations i couldnt get the balloon out last week im scheduled for this wed july 20. Cant come fast enough, ironically it will be 1 month exactly to the day i have it out. I am also from Canada (toronto) and i agree the Health canada needs to get involved. I had a consultation whivh was really nothing but for the doc to confirm my BMI 3 days later was having the balloon inserted. I was told 3 days was more then enough to recuperate NOT!!!!! I had 2 phones calls after i went home. Then talked to a dietition for 20 mins booked another call in a month and that was it. No counselling whatsoever. When i insisted on talking to the doctor last week explained i was terribly depressed not feeling feel and wasnt sure if this was normal he said i need to get out more and start my daily activities. Kinda hard to do when you feel awful. Then he goes on holidays for a week. This has been a very expensive frustrating experience. Oh well its almost over.
Your experience sounds just like mine, my doctor was away due to holidays too, unfortunately I couldn't wait until he got back, I know the feeling that it just can't come soon enough. Yes, relief comes instantly after removal!!!! I have spoken with a few ladies in the same postion, and all had imediate relief. I hope that you don't struggle with "balloon remorse" LOL, I struggle with it, so angry at myself for resorting to this but also so angry with the clinic and the goverments lack or monitoring the outcomes. There seems to be no responisibility for these clinics to report any untoward outcomes/incidents. I have written letters to Health Canada and hope to get some response. Clinics can say they offer all this support, but when they dont deliver what course of action can we take...that I hope to find out.
clinics try to make you feel like somehow you are the only one to have this kind of response...maybe you are doing something wrong...over eating....HELL, I wasn't even able to eat, even sips of water came back.
and NO we are NOT the only ones who have had these negative experiences.
You will soooo much better after removal, and than yes you can get on with life, normalcy, removal is similiar to insertion, you will have medication and won't feel it.
I urge anyone out there considering getting a balloon, that you ask the question..if I have difficulties what is the course of action, where can I go if the physician who inserted is not available?, is any of it refundable? what are the percentage of intolerance..what frequency will my apts be, not what services are available, but what the service offers and at what frequency.
it all sounds good when they say dietician, psychologist, trainor, sounds like a good deal until you find out that these apts are few and far between.
Well enough of my ranting, all the best, I absolutely gurantee you that you will have relief, take care!!!
