her again
how are you doing my friend no word of you for a long time hoe all is going well for you

Hello all

Well I have been a little disappointed over the past couple weeks as I have seemed to have put on a pound. I don't really know how this is possible other than the fact that they have me eating every 3 hours. Maybe my body is in shock because I can actually eat now as opposed to the vomiting for the first month?! I am hoping to find out on Friday when I go for my monthly check-up that it is muscle weight that I have gained and not fat weight.

I did however go through clothes last week and purged myself of all the stuff that looks like a tablecloth on me......lol.

Lastresort...... glad to hear you are well my friend and I see that your weight loss has also slowed down to a degree. I know that this isn't a miracle cure or anything but losing 19 lbs one month and then gaining the next has thrown me for a loop...lol. I hope things are going well for you my friend :)

Hi Her again,
My gastric nurse told me the same thing that now I am in the full swing of exercise I will be builing muscle which is heavier than fat and it will balance off this month and should see a better weight loss!! fingers crossed as the time is moving on.....
I am delighted you are feeling better..... if its any comfort to you I have so much energy now and that alone makes me feel so much better
Stay posted as I miss your posts

HI All

I had mine fitted on Friday, now Wednesday and I am still extremely sick, can't keep anything down, now having to drink Dioralyte to try and help.

Any words of encouragement would be gratefully received as at present I am starting to wonder what the hell i've done! Anyone else had major problems to start with, how long did your's last?

Keep at it though hey!
x

Hi Skittle,
Sorry to hear you have been so sick....did your clinic give you any medication for sickness, acid and cramps? I had all of those at the begining and they really helped.... I only need the acid ones now once a day. If they didnt you should ask your GP to perscribe them for you.
Keep your chin up it will get better and keep posting as I find this site a great help......the very best of luck to you

HI Last Resort

Thanks for saying hi.

The clinic did give me some medication but they tend to make me feel worse, esp the anti acid tablets, what do you use for that?

Have to say, today I do feel a little better so I suppose it's a question of patience and understanding the balloon, just can't wait for the feeling of heavyness to go away and to start feeling a little normal again, which hopefully it will.

It's also very hard as I haven't told a sole about this and having to cope with all by myself, that includes my doctor as I really don't think she'd approve and she can be a fierce woman.

Hi Skittle

Skittle,
Hang in there honey!
You will start to feel a lot better soon. I too found the medication made me feel worse, although it was the other medication besides the antiacid.
I am two months on and two stone lighter and I feel great, despite the lack of food.
Good luck x

HI Doc number

thanks, I will, wont give up yet but really can't wait to feel better, might even try some baby food! Try anything once until it settles enough to eat properly.

The things we do.

Well done on your weight loss, thats amazing, 2 stone, wow. What's you're target?

Hi I'm a newcomer to the site. Considering the gastric balloon but haven't made up my mind yet. Could anyone tell me if you can use vibrating exercise plates if you have the balloon fitted. Thanks

2 months in

OK so I had my 2 month check up on Friday. Wasn't great like the first month but I am down 20 lbs in total so I am not going to complain. I think I will up my workouts though as this cost too much not to.

Hope everyone is doing well :)

Hi Jennyr, I had my balloon fitted last June and I tried the vibrating exercise plate around mid July, I was still feeling a bit "strange" although tolerating food. I could use it and there was not a problem with it, but it felt kind of uncomfortable because with all the vibrations you could feel the balloon hiting against the stomach walls. Not that it made me sick or anything, just a bit strange.

Anyway, if you are considering having the balloon fitted, that shouldnt put you off it :) Let me know if you need more info about it!

Unfortunately my target for the six months is 5 stone. I could have done with losing about 7 stone as my BMI was 40.
I have been sent my new food menu by my provider and so far cant eat any of the new things :(
Anyhooo
31 pounds down, i may make 5 stone if i continue on this way. I was thinking about trying to get another one after I had finished, as I have read that the air filled balloon is much gentler, but now I am looking forward to the balloon being taken out.
How is it going now?

Hi All....
hope your all well....
well, i'm 5 weeks in and 18lb down!!!
i have been extremely lucky no vomiting for about 3 weeks, no acid, no discomfort.
i take opramazole for the acid, nothing else.
My size 16 trousers look saggy now...
newcomers.....in most cases it does get better, This is the best think i've done!
another 42lb to go!!!

Hi everyone, wondering about this procedure very much. I have mentioned this to my boyfriend, got a big no, same with parents, the only person that thinks it is a good idea is my boss!! Can you tell me what reactions you have received from your friends and family and how things are working? Wondering now if I should just go off on a girls holiday to india for 3 days and come back with it done?

Hi there kenya cowgirl,
I have to tell you my family have been a great support to me as diabites runs in my family so from a health point of view they have supported me every step of the way and 12 weeks in had my review appointment today and was thrilled to see a loss of 22 lb in total so far....its not an easy option by any stretch of the imagination its tough but it does train the body and mind to new ways........my experience says go for it we are all different but i am not dissappointed in any way I feel like a new woman and I think at this point I will reach my target weight before the balloon is due to come out.
you are all keeping very quiet!!! HOW ARE YOU ALL DOING??

Hi there

I had my balloon fitted last Wednesday. From reading a lot of the messages on this forum although feeling like I wanted to die, I realise now it could have been a hell of a lot worse!

The first few days were hell. I got mine done in the UK through The Hospital Group. It cost me 3.5k.

I found I wasn't really provided good information on how I was going to feel afterwards. I went to work the next day thinking some antacids and anti-emetics would keep me right for the day. By 10 o' clock I'd puked once and was sitting in some of the worst discomfort I've ever known.

I was back at work yesterday and although uncomfortable, it's more than bearable.

I'm not having a big poblem with acid so far. I'm gathering that comes if I eat fatty foods y/n? I drank nothing but water and milk for the first 3 and a bit days and since then have managed softs easily. Scrambled eggs, soup and yoghurt. I feel like I could probably manage anything as long as I chew it enough.

I did get some serious dizziness today. I have to go skating tonight and am a little apprehensive it's too much, too soon but that remains to be seen.

I'm 14 stone (~90 kg) and 5 ft 7". I've never been this big in my life and it's driven me to despair. I want to lose 3 stone (17 - 18 kg I think) and fingers crossed I will as I've lost 0.5 stone in the first week :) I'm also getting married next year and all I want is to walk down the aisle on my wedding day and feel beautiful.

To the people reporting no weight loss... I've realised very quickly this is not something that will just 'fix me'. It is something I'm going to have to work with. It's meant to help change bad eating habits not surgically inflict weight loss. You can't have it done and expect to eat as you did and lose weight. I needed something to get me out of my negative eating habits, get me used to smaller portions and thinking carefully about what I eat before I eat it. For me, I think this is going to be the solution. It's early days but already I feel more positive than I was before I had it done.

As many have said before me, if you have the cash and you want something to get you out of the eating rut then I think this could be the answer. Definitely less frightening than gastric banding, bypasses and cocktails of drugs.

Take care all and I'll keep you posted on progress. x

Hi, good luck with your weight loss, i hope you get to where you want to be for your wedding.(those wedding photos are so important).
I'm having a sleeve gastrectomy on 7th jan 2010 in uk, but i'm nhs funded. I'm a bit nervy, but i need it to be perminant. The very last meal i will ever eat will be my xmas dinner.
Good luck sue.

I have had the ballon put in 3 week ago and i have already managed to loose almost 8kgs. I was on liquids the first week and moved to mushies the 2nd week. This 3rd week i am eating normal foods but 1/3 of what i used to have. the hardest part is trying to have enough water because eventhou i am sipping i dont think it is more than 300ml a day. i usually am not hungry in the morning at all but i force myself to have a yogurt or have a cheese sandwich. i do my main eating at night and that is also the time i vomit. i have been vomiting once a night but that is mainly my fault because i am still trying to adjust to the new portions i am supposed to be having.
I really want to start wxcercizing but i just feel dizzy and weak all the time. i am not on any vitamins so i started centrum yesterday and that didnt go too well with my tummy. any of u on liquid multivitamins?
so far, i have noticed i cannot have beans, protein shakes, banana or anything to saucy. I am a vegetarian so finding protein has been hard. I have hadscrambled eggs once and i had big time nausea after that.

post gastric baloon

Hello fellow baloon holders
I had the gastric baloon inserted 9 days ago and i do not feel any different other than my abdomen being hard and swollen. Is anyone else experiencing this? I am really worried about my abdomen being hard and swollen and getting some back pain. Because of the swelling I am actually slightly bigger than before the baloon and have a hard time fitting into my clothes. Help!

Well, it is a month since i have had my balloon and i am 9kgs done. :biggrinjester: For the last few days i am able to drink 100ml of liquids in a single gulp. should i be able to do this? I have also started throwing up again after it stopping for a few days. I feel like i do not eat out because i amafriad to vomit in public. Anyone have that fear besides me?
