G8r80's training / dieting / cycling / log

dude! I just realized our bikes have the same color. SO, what are you goin to wear tomorrow big boy? ahhahahaa we could look like a team.

I'll be wearing pink and lime green, with a pearly white helmet.

and anybody that wants t make fun of that, has to do triple digits on a bike first!

Hmmm. What to wear, what to wear. This is a dilemna. I think I'll wear my purple helmet and Corona jersey and black shorts.

I swam 800 yards this morning but couldn't get into it for some reason. Did 20 minutes on stationary bike while waiting for my daughter's volleyball practice to end. Just finished 5 k run.

Purple and pink! You guys are so cute I just want to take you both home and show my mother ;)

Uh yeah! I am beat! Quads ache and almost cramped. Calves ache. Neck sore. Butt bones sore. In fact, it would be easier to list the things on me that aren't sore...

Hey, you had an off day and still chugged out 115 friggin' miles! Not a bad outing at all for an off day!;)

Oh common out with it and just say what you already told me in that PM you gave me: "not bad for an old guy on bike named 'precious'"

LOL :D hahaha I'm kidding...

Don't give him any excuses g8r he needs to stop whining :yelrotflmao:

Good job to you both.

Decided to do a trial run of my Sprint Tri which is coming in less than 3 weeks.

Did the first two out of order.

Rode 11 hard miles on the stationary bike. 33:30. About what I think I will do on the road, averaging just under 20mph. I felt blisteringly fast, even though I was still sore from Saturday's century. Hit heart rate of 149 at the end and stayed over 140 for several minutes. This is much higher than usual for me as I normally cannot stay over 130 for more than a few minutes and can stay at 140 for less than a minute.

T1: 6:00 minutes. I was winded at the end of bike sprint. I either need to go a little lighter on the bike or get tougher.

Swim: 300 yards. 8:30. About what I thought .

T2: NA. I went home, took a shower, had lunch, worked, had dinner.

Run: 3.2 miles. 29:00. I struggled on the run. The century ride had no effect on the run.

Total: If I get T1 and T2 down to about 2 minutes each, I will come in about 1:20.

Good job gator,
I'd encourage you to do a few more bricks in the coming week or two. For some reason, even for me, biking after swimming is really difficult. Even though its a sprint tri that 300 swim will be enough to throw you off a little, you might even feel a little dizzy when you get out. Try the swim to bike a few more times and do the actual distances. I don't doubt your bike to run will be much more smooth.

Did the same bike and swim today. I haven't done a swim transition yet because it is difficult for me to do a transition after swimming because I have to walk through the YMCA building and have to be fully dressed with shoes.

This time, I wore my tri shorts throughout, which was a little weird. And, yeah, I was dizzy for 2 - 3 minutes after coming out of the pool.

The T2 transition is much easier for me and I have done that numerous times at home.

can you just have your stuff to throw on by the pool? I get dizzy also with the swim transition and it takes a bit to get my land legs back once on the bike. The bike to run seems much easier.

For some medical reasons, I will be out of commission for the next several months. I plan to exceed my current status by the end of this year.

Ciao for now.

Hey Richard! When do you go to the Mayo in Florida? I'm excited to hear what they have to say. I've been in the medical field for almost 13 years (prior to the job I have now) and have never heard anything bad about any of the Mayo's. It would be great if you could stay in Florida.

Keep us posted as far as what you find out and what your plans are. Take care of yourself. FF needs you to recover 'cause he can't make his own PB sandwich. Greg
