G8r80 and GT2003: onward!

it's more like a lil snort or sprit of exhale, like how a whale does.

you will get it, just keep swimming. finishing out of your mouth will increase the amount you get in that "lil place" (that is hard to explain).

just wait until you swim fuirther and further, you can get to doing some major snotting and that "slow out" becomes more and more inportant to keeping a smooth breath pattern.

it gets more aggressive, nd as it does you will get the hang of it

keep swimming...

Thanks Todd. That wasn't the first time that a rider behind crashed "freakishly", as you know!

NBS, hmm, no on the long nose hairs, but you're saying finish exhaling after I am out of the water? What about if I exhaled out my mouth?

Well same again but it is harder to cut of your nose than it is your mouth. Is the stinging your actual nose of sinuses?

My nose itself. I will try exhaling out my mouth next time and see if that helps.

I am in Kansas City, MO this week. 6 miles on the hotel treadmill @ 6 mph. My calves were soooo sore afterwards, I could barely walk.

10 x 3 x 25# dumbbell curls
10 x 3 x 45# dumbbell bench presses

30 minutes on stationary bike

Nice run G8R. 10MPH is fast! I'm experimenting with the treadmill and when ready will sign up and run a 5K to start, maybe more later. Like I said, no more empty promises so I'll only update as I progress. The running does seem easier the more weight I lose.

218.3 lbs today before lunch. It's a different scale than usual so that might have something to do with it. Either way I'm still eating clean.

NO DIVORCE YET! I'm taking this day by day. We've both got a lot to work out but at least there is some compromise in the whole situation right now. We both are having to re-learn how to treach each other. I believe if we can do this, it's got a decent chance of working out.

TRAINING: None, lol. Really, not tonight (sons football), but I will be hitting the gym for probably 3 good workouts this week. I'm hitting weights heavy for the 1st 45 minutes then focusing mainly on the treadmill but also with some elliptical (cuz I'm making myself try it out), stationary recumbent bike and some stairmaster mixed in.

That's it for now. Off to work now. Take care, Greg

Greg, yeah, 10mph is fast - way too fast for me. I meant to say 10 min miles.

I hope all works out for you.

Today: 90 minutes on stationary bike.

Football practice got cut short last night, not enough players. So, I was home by 6:30 and bored by 7:30. I jumped on the recumbent bike for 30 minutes which used to be a fairly good task. No problem now!! I'm making progress.

I'm going to work out at home tonight (chest and tri's) and plan on 45 minutes to an hour on the bike. I haven't weighed but expect I'm still somewhere around 218. Pictures to come at 215, my halfway point. Talk to you all later, Greg

I took off work early today. I had to take my step-sons car to the auto salvage since he ran it in to a tree. So, I was home by 4pm. I made dinner, cleaned everything up, cleaned some around the house, did some laundry then i HIT IT HARD!!!

Chest and tri's, Heavy bench press on my machine followed by heavy tricep pushdowns, strict form. 7 sets of bench, 5 sets of pushdowns. I followed this up with 45 minutes on the bike. I feel great right now. I'm not sure what I weigh but I continue to eat well and am not overeating.

Take care all. FF, if you read this baby, U DA MAN. Rock on this weekend!

Nice going, Greg.

Today, I'm still in a KCMO hotel.

6.2 miles on treadmill in 60 minutes.
3 x 10 x 25# bicep dumbbell curls
3 x 10 x 50# dumbbell bench press
3 x 10 pushups

Last day in Kansas City. Raining cats and dogs today. 60 minutes on exercise bike.

I completely missed that you were traveling to KC, Richard. I live 20-30 minutes from KC (just outside of Lawrence, Kansas). And, yes, it has been raining like this for 2 consecutive days.

Best regards,

Chillen

I'm off to go hunting now. I drew in for a special hunt in southern Oklahoma. The time away will do me good. I weighed 217.3 yesterday. No telling what I'll weigh when I get back. I am staying at some friends' house again next week so I should have a great workout week. Take care all. Have a good weekend, Greg

Don, I go to KCMO every year in late October or early November. Before I return next year, I'll contact you in advance, we'll meet up and I'll let you buy me a beer!:action11:

You guys are both doing great. I've been MIA on this journal for a while and its nice to see such great determination.

Greg, its trite at this point, I knw, but I'm so sorry about your marriage stuff. I'm glad you have a faith to fall back on and I hope you will be able to get back and connected with church. It makes all the difference. My faith is truly the only reason my husband and I ARE still married.

G8r you're a stud and doing well with this swimming stuff! Have you experimented with the "whale" thing? :) Its basically exhaling the rest of your air forcefully as you are turning to get your breath. You will have a nano second of still exhaling with your face out of the water before you grab your next breath. I think NBS did a good job of that explanation. I exhale out of both my nose and mouth, but mostly my mouth.

Good job to you both. *applause*

Deer hunt is over. I was able to take a deer yesterday morning and be at my sons football game by 12:30. They won that game which makes them the youth league "superbowl" champions. They were pretty pumped up, it was neat.

I'm now sitting at work until about 1pm when I'll go back to where we were hunting to pick up the travel trailer. My buddies didn't even see deer yesterday so they opted to hunt all day today. Then it's back to return the trailer and start the week of right.

I'm staying at some friends again so my workouts should be top notch this week. I ate like crap while I was gone but my metabolism is roaring and it should aid my weight loss. Talk to you all later, Greg

(Thanks Sparrow, add me to your prayer list cuz I dunno where this whole thing is going)

Congrats on the successful deer hunt, Greg.

Well, since I have nothing scheduled for the foreseeable future, save for the Bike Across Florida on Nov. 9 but that is shaky at this point, I have decided to work on losing weight and working on some weights.

Yesterday: 10x5 pushups

Today: 2x10 parallel bar pullups
10x3 x 30# dumbbell bicep curls
60:00 on stationary bike

What are your weight loss goals G8R80?

Nothing yesterday. The wife has decided she wants to divorce for sure. So, here I had to go sign some papers after work. I'm planning on hitting 3 good, solid workouts this week, today, wednesday and thursday with the goal of doing 1 hour of cardio after my workouts each day. I'll weigh Friday. I'll post pics at 215 pounds which should be in the near future, hopefully by this weekend.

I ate terribly this weekend and not great yesterday but it's time to get it back together. I'll report on the workout tonight. Take care all, Greg

Greg, sorry to hear about the imminent divorce, but all will work out. I am 193# at about 19 - 20% bf and would like to get down to 179, where I was in my early 20's (early 80's). I would be a kick-ass 50yo in my condition at that weight.

No doubt u can get there Richard. Just another goal you'll reach before you know it. Stay strong, stay focused and it will all come together.

190 is my ultimate goal. 217 or so right now, I haven't weighed since last week. I'm having to make sure I eat enough right now. Nerves are affecting me somewhat but like you said, it will all work out and get easier as everything works itself out eventually.

My wife (for now, lol) and I are really focusing on making the transition as smooth as possible for our 12 year old. We're going to have joint custody so we will pretty much have equal time with him throughout the year. Now we just have to get it all processed. Hopefully things will continue to go smoothly and we can work things out without any big fights. We've already agreed verbally to splitting house profit, debt etc. down the middle and have joint custody so all should work out fine. Thanks for all the encouragement. I'm looking to the bright side of things and have faith that it will all work out for the best in the end.

Off to lunch here in a bit. Take care all, Greg

Greg, believe it or not, once all of this is settled, you'll feel a lot better. It's the process/strain of tying up all the loose ends. Plus it's a huge emotional upheaval, regardless of the circumstances.

I'm glad to hear that you have joint custody. That was the issue that was most likely weighing very heavy on you.

Everything happens for a reason. Cliché, but true. But it still sucks.

Stay strong ;)
