Day 7 of 100 at 278.6 this morning which is 0.2 above Thursday, but down 1.8 from yesterday. 7% time elapsed and only 2.9% completed. I ran again last night. I'd love to start a streak again, but 2 days in a row was tough. I'll get there soon.
We ate pretty cruddy this weekend. With our decision to minimize processed foods in February we have been eating up the processed foods already purchased. Having the new grocery store with a lot more vegan options has resulted in having more heavily processed foods in the house lately. It's gone and we aren't buying more. I think February will be a successful trial that will result in permanent changes.
Here's what we've agreed to except:
Healthy oils (minimal use already and no frying)
Organic peanut butter (just peanuts ground)
Nut milks (breakfast)
Tofu
Soy curls
Spices
Coffee tea
This will reduce our sodium and calories significantly.
Ever made your own tofu? French guy cooking (Youtube) had a recipe up last week that sounded very tempting. In case you get sick of woodworking sometimes
I make the soy milk and then make tofu from that. I've made farmer's cheese in the past and it's the same process other than I can't make cow milk. I buy it mostly because they can get it firmer than I can and use the same ingredients. I should get back to that if for no other reason than I have a bucket full of dried organic soybeans and they don't settle well for me as whole cooked beans.
Menu looks delicious. I drink Organic Almond milk all the time now. I haven't drank cow's milk for over a year. I love the calorie count on the almond milk ( 25 calories a glass) and the protein count- good stuff. I am not big on soya milk as they say it increase estrogen in men- and we don't need any of that do we-lol?
Hi Cowboy! Soy milk has phytoestrogens while cow milk is chock full of the real deal mammalian estrogen. Not many worry about dairy. I don't worry about soy. I use cashew milk for breakfast and soy milk just for tofu. I eat tofu daily, but I haven't gotten any prettier.
277 this morning. The real diet changes start tomorrow.
So all of the processed food elimination started today and I am also going to not snack for the month of February. Just the three meals a day. My reward is that I will take a break from the scale. Either for the month or until I feel like weighing.
Day 1 was a complete success. I ran a mile and ate my three meals with no snacking or processed foods. My stomach growled a lot of the day. I need to focus on the fact that I am probably half or a third of the way through the most difficult part of adjusting to the new calorie intake and eating schedule. Day 1 is hopefully the hardest. I went to bed early and slept well.
Ah LaMa, Cate, and Hana; how can anyone not succeed with such great support. Thank you all and sorry for not reciprocating well of late.
Day 3 and I feel great! I'll be running the 3rd day in a row today and if I keep feeling this good I may be back on my streak. The hunger has largely subsided too. Happy Friday WLF!
