Floater's diary

I bought a bag of carabin locks and let's all pray the mini man doesn't figure out how to open those. Despite being annoyed about the damage he's done nibbling away when I slept, I have to say his intelligence is admirable.

I'd be surprised if he managed both the carabiner AND the sliding lock thingy. Did he damage anything important?

Gave Nera's urn some more dents despite it being on a tabletop... Ate the canvas cover off an electric wire and a dent into my calendar, and tried his teefers onto one of those cool dedign chairs too but I doubt anyone else could even see it. What matters is that he's safe <3

OMG! That must have been such a shock. He is one very smart chinchilla & is going to keep you on your toes!
He reminds me of the archetypal, spoiled fairytale princes 😂 It's yet to be determined whether I'm a sorcerer or his whipping boy or perhaps his chamber maid. I just finished vacuuming the apartment, checking last night's damages, cleaned his cage, and had store-bought chicken soup for breakfast.

Lunch was rice and tuna. Snack was 250g of thawed cherries. I prepped three portions worth of green lentil stew with summer potatoes and coconut cream and greens when assistance person was over. I let Heikki out to play, and now he's cooling off in his cage with the AC on. He'll get another play session later tonight, I'm having a cup of coffee now and planning to go for a short walk. I feel like I can handle things and that I'm more or less in control of my life, even considering my health issues.

I'll try to hit the gym or the pool tomorrow as I have no assistance visit tomorrow, meaning I have a free schedule.

I had some bread earlier and now working my way through a week-old tub of yogurt. It's not fresh but doesn't taste spoiled either and right now I need all the fuel I can possibly get in.

Heikki is such a darling. He offers me his butt to get his tail scritched and coils it into a tight roll 😂 And gives me his swishy tail dance every now and then 🥰

For most food the best before date is just that and not a sign it'll kill you if you wait a day :D I generally go by "look, smell, poke with fork, careful taste" too.

Last night I had a good, uninterrupted night's sleep for the first time since early June. I dreamt of re-potting all my houseplants into bigger pots. I think it's a sign of a more harmonious period starting in my life.

As I was making coffee, my neighbor called and asked if she can pop by to see Hegel. He conveniently decided to have a snack just as she came over - I think my man loves attention lol. As he was already awake, I decided to clean up his cage and vacuum the apartment and I'm now having yesterday's lentil thing for breakfast. If I had known that owning a chinchilla was the key to my apartment looking like something out of a lifestyle magazine, I would have gotten one much earlier :D I noticed that the little bastard has gnawed a hole into my monstera, must have been during his prison break a few nights ago. It was a beautiful leaf too. But that´s what happens when you live with toddlers. I obviously never let him gnaw at my plants, but sleeping guardians can't guard well.

Having bread as a snack and took out mango and pomegranate seeds to thaw. Gotta go buy more dishwasher detergent soon!

It’s good to hear you had an uninterrupted night’s sleep. I hope it is a sign of better times to come. Heikki sure is a cheeky little bugger! Monstera nibbling is a no no! 🏝🚫

I have a feeling that this is the case <3

I'm just glad he didn't ingest any because as far as I know, those plants are mildly toxic. But than goodness he doesn't seem to eat things that aren't hay, his pellets, or bark from the apple tree sticks I give him. He just explores his surroundings with those luxurious whiskers and his mouth, like a toddler would.

I just finished giving my floors a quick wipe with a damp rag. I think I'll have that bowl of mango and pomegranate seeds now and then go buy dishwasher tablets, cottage cheese, onions, and eggs.

Sorry to my lovely forum friends for not being active in other people's threads lately, the little man has kept me busy!

We all get preoccupied sometimes: Hegel is a lot more dependent on you than we are! Good to hear you had a decent night's sleep: that's always a good thing. And dreams of nurturing life sound very positive indeed.

Didn't make it to the grocery store yet - realized I had remembered the assistance schedule wrong, and I indeed do have a visit in 45 mins, so I made my favorite struggle meal of polenta with spinach, corn, and cheese.

For some reason I've been constantly hungry today. Luckily I've been hungry for healthy stuff lol. Just had rye bread with ham and a small bowl of sauerkraut. I think that the portable AC is helping me in this regard. I love how Hegel is helping me as I help him!

I'll probably need a warm meal before bed, I'm thinking a bowl of the lentil stew with a pollock fillet and some spinach. I might add some peanut butter into the lentil stew for some variety. Glad to be back. I need to remember that the next time I'm going through a period of mental health hell, I'll bounce back eventually.
