Firing-Up the Spirit Between Members

We should create some categories, e.g.

BULK : CUT : GENERAL WEIGHT LOSS

You get the idea, and put various names under each category so we can then match and pair up each other.

Because honestly I am not into the trainer competition. I have people that pay me for services, it wouldnt be fair to them if I charged them, yet did others for free.

Damn right mofo, unless you give me the good training and all the others the **** stuff to make me win :D

Sign me up then

I got a call yesterday evening to get my vasectomy today. So, if we still go with the trainer/trainee idea, I'm in. If it's pairing up two people to train, I'm out of this for 10 days to 2 weeks until I can start lifting again.

I'll throw in here. I've been all but lost my motivation to lift. This might work out. So, uh, put my name in the lottery or whatever and I suggest a new thread with the established rules...cause this thread is like a brainstorm thread and it can get pretty confusing.

True, we havent even come to a conclusion yet.

I think the trainer idea is a bad idea PERSONALLY. But its upto the majority. Like Tony said, i wouldnt be fair for him to train people for free when he had others paying.

I think pairing up is a good idea or even grouping up. Using people with similar goals so they can sort of work together and set and meet targets.

Stats

Height: 5'10"
Weight: 162
Goals: Be a better grappler. Get back to heavier weight after July 27th. Maintain my awesome conditioning. Get stronger (my motivation for this is being hindered by my primary goal which is to be a better grappler. Since they are not causal relationships this particular goal has since been in decline)

Im away for the weekend but I will go ahead with the lottery draft idea once I return. If the other idea wants to proceed as well, then that is awesome as well. However that isnt my little nugget so I wont write up how that one will work.

As of today, June 29th, 2008 (at the time writing this post), these are the goal participants: (no particular order)

Put TM's post (as of today) in one spot for review

Below are the posts by TM on the lottery draft thus far (as of today June 29th, 2008.

Review them, and make comments and opinions.

how about a partner draft?

^^ That was a serious post. Everyone who wants in could give their name. Then the names are divided or randomly put in half. Then ordered and each person gets to pick their partner in that order from the remaining pool.

Ok so should we do lottery, or just put the names into a thread? Then we will pair up with each other, and like I said, e-training partners. Keep each other motivated basically.

But the majority of information should be kept public IMO.

:( I was hoping for the 1st Annual World Fitness E-Partner Lottery Draft...

The only thing I see is that we wont have enough trainers. It seems we will have an overwhelming response for people who want in as participants. Also this is now becoming a challenge between trainers, something along the lines of a Physique Clinic. I dont really like that idea.

It should be more about the participants who are trying to reach their goals, not which trainer can have a better group, ya know?

Im not really into the whole judging of people to see who is best. Then we might as well have a transformation contest.

Well you could have two people with like minded goals being essentially e-training partners. They could have a dual journal to share ideas with each other, and where other members could share ideas with them.

However for other people to then train them is asking alot I think from the forum members who would partake. That would sort of be like a Physique Clinic thing. That would get into a battle of who's advice is better, instead of the real idea: two people motivating and keeping each other accountable.

I think it would be a great benefit for a dual journal. Instead of a competition really, you're both trying to get to the same place and win. That's the way I see it.

I wanted to be a drafter. Maybe we should split this into two different ideas? A draft and a trainer challenge? Then they can possibly be merged because whoever works with the same trainer can then partner up through the draft for a specific e partner?

And JD's comment:

This might be a good idea. There are members who have the same goals from what I've seen on this thread. Such as members being in a cutting stage after bulking. But, there might not be anyone who has the same goals as me. Which is to lose 60-80lbs. So a draft might fit some peoples goals and situation better.

So maybe there should be 2 groups?

How do i raise my chances of getting the first pick? :p or will the trainers be picking?!? So many details...

========================================

1. If we go the journal method, "should" each pairing forum member have a simular graphic in the subject line to assist with defining who is partnered with who?

and/or

2. We can put the participants/trainers (or what ever we call them) in the "sticky" thread on its own (NO COMMENTS ALLOWED, it must be kept clean and concise, locked, with mods/admin making changes, deletions, etc.)

a. Listing the participants, and the partnered pair (by draft is fine with me).

There goals would be clearly defined in their journals--with a start and end period. They would be e-partners as TM suggested. Keeping each other accountable with us working with them to motivate and give advice as time goes by. (why--couldn't we add in a trophy for the best progress between the pair? Some forums have this, and this could be added in their forum name title underneath the rep bar with a HTML hack). We all know making progress is the ultimate reward, hands down, I agree completely. But, this could be a nice touch......what do you think?

I'm flattered that you would keep me in that company Chillen but I don't think an unqualified person should should be training someone on here.

I'll challenge anyone though :)

I dont consider myself a "trainer", but in one form or another we all give advice on this forum, and over 90% of the members whom give advice on this forum on diet and training are not "trainers nor nutritionists". And, this situation (that we are trying to settle on), is really no different than giving advice on various aspects of diet and training. Without a "technical" and formal background, what qualifies us to do this? Additionally, even IF a person has a techinical background in diet and fitness, doesnt "necessarily" qualify them. Like I said before, there are bozo the clowns with credentials that "techinically" qualify them to do certain things, but couldnt find there way out of someones colon.

Having a knowledgeable person along side another needing assistance provides some guidance and support, and one doesnt need a formal education for this. In addition, there are alot of persons on this forum without this "formal" education that are quite competent in diet and fitness. Not everyone can afford to hire a trainer. The next best thing is to be your own (by obtaining knowledge of diet and training), and having an experienced (and/or knowledgeable) person with another needing help, assists the cause.

Best wishes,

do we have to pair male/male female/female? I dont think so, but if it would make people more comfortable.

I think there are a lot of people who want to join, but are afraid of failing. If this is you, then this may be what YOU NEED.

when are we starting?

We are getting close.

Unless subsequent posts specify otherwise, I am assuming we are going the e-partner route.

I need a mod to answer some of my points in my most recent posts (like yesterday) one way or the other to get clarification.

Thanks!

I think each pair will have their own journal. They can keep an individual one if they like, but I dont see the purpose. So the title might say "TonyM & Jaim" This would keep things clean and make them easier to find.

See bold. There is more to come. I will try to write up a sign up post with rules tonight (its wife's birthday, so we'll see how it goes) if not then by tomorrow. We'll set a Draft date, or maybe a span of days.

Each person will basically have to list "goals, stats, whether they want to draft or be in the lottery, etc"

As far as the trainers go, well that is up to the trainers. After the draft a team could request to work with a trainer, then a trainer could choose to work with that team. Some kind of modification could be made at the end of say four months as to who had the best journal + reached goals + helped other people like you mentioned.

This sounds very good to me, and I'm jacked up for this!

Sign me up. What type of vital statistics do you need from me for pairing up?
