Why is that amazing? its absolutely wrong ;)

Actually many people who critisize evolution spit that claim out, which shows clearly they have no knowledge what they're talking about.

If you take a look at our genome with all the genes, we actually share 1/3 of it from from virus's. Our genome is almost identical to apes etc and similar to all animals on earth bar a genetic differences, which nevertheless produce a wide array of characteristics which you only have to look out your window to see.

Do I believe in Evolution? Yes, I believe I CAN evolutionize myself into what ever I aspire.

Do I believe in ID? Yes, I believe I can IDentify the person who can do it: ME.

Case closed.

;)

I'm not here to attack anyone's beliefs, just to make a point about science education.

People can believe whatever they want about where we and all of the other species originally came from, but there's no refuting the evidence that evolution does exist today.

Even if we all were made by a supreme being, we are currently evolving and changing. Our genes change generation to generation. It's a fact.

I believe that trying to pass off a religious belief like Creationism/Intelligent Design as a scientific theory in order to teach it in schools is just plain wrong. (I'm speaking as a US citizen here). We are guaranteed "freedom of religion" and with that comes "freedom from religion". An inherently religious belief which defies most scientific research should not be taught in public schools under the category of "science". I can see it being taught in a philosophy class or maybe a religion related class, but it does not belong in the science books.

So yes, people can believe whatever they want, but only science gets taught in science classes. Intelligent design/creationism belongs in the church or in philosophy classes.

Come on chillen, what do you realllllly beleive ;)

Nice post spicy, although not sure about genes changing every generation.

Quite disturbing really, to see 27% or 19 voters vot creationism - americans no doubt ;)

The absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence.

Theist arguments based on such logic always end up eating their words when new discoveries came about.

My best friends 4 yr old daughter asked about evolution and her dad gave her a basic overview of evolution or creation of God. After a silence, the 4 yr old said..."If monkeys were evolutioned they wouldnt exist anymore." How do you argue with a 4 yr old...

Although I stand more on the side of evolution than creation, the issue I have with Evolution is the lack of evidence that any species has ever evolved from another.

Before I get flamed, here's the point. Evolutionary theory says that mutations occur every so often and the ones that prove beneficial survive and the bad ones tend to die out. This is how we developed things like opposable thumbs.

If this is the case, why is there no evidence of any of the unsuccessful mutations in fosil records? Where are the 3 eyed fish?

Scientists talk of 'the missing link' which connects humans to apes but it seems to me that there are thousands of missing links all over the world with every species on the planet. Where is the hard evidence that we have evolved from anything?

Can someone point me to evidence of a 'between' stage where we went from ape to human?

*Lunacy alert*

Or what about this theory for all the conspiracy nuts out there. We were in fact placed on Earth thousands of years ago; by us! It could explain the sudden death of the Dinosaurs (we killed them) and the reason for a lack of evolutionary evidence for humans (We might have evolved from apes but that's in the future)

The theory is out there that time travel is possible so maybe mankind from far in the future came back to plant 'Adam and Eve' in the past.
The sun will die out one day so maybe this was a chance to send people back to continue our existence after the Earth had died, a bit like in Superman :D

It might be crazy but not more than Christianity :yelrotflmao:

Since monkeys do exist......you don't really ' argue ' at all.

You simply explain to the 4 year old why a conclusion of " If monkeys were evolutioned they wouldnt exist anymore " is fundamentally wrong ( in terms of invalidating the theory of evolution )

Seems like your ' best friend ' either did a very poor job of explaining evolution to his daughter or your ' best friend ' doesn't have even a rudimentary understanding of evolution in the first place.

^^I hope that is a joke post.

Interestingly enough yesterdays Scientific American magazine had the cover "The End of Cosmology" and something about the big bang theory and its wrong idea. Cant remember the second part exactly.

Well if that were the case there would only be one type of species on this entire planet wouldnt there. You wouldnt argue with them because they wont be able to undestand, although i have a sneaky suspicion the 4 year old is disguised as you - if not, then that 4 year old pretty damn good at critical thinking, even though he/shes ultimately wrong.

Hey CCR, have a read of this short simple article by Dawkins "the illusion of design"

If you really what answers to all of your seemingly difficulties to take on evolution, there are plenty of books out there ;)

Not at all wantbfit, quite the opposite. You can write whatever you want, would be good to see but if i disagree then watch out! jokes haha

And heres another general article with info on transitional fossils

Hmm, I'm always sceptical of articles that try and pass themselves off as fact but only offer statements like 'numerous examples of' or 'plenty of' to back up it's content. If there really are numerous examples then show one

I think it's odd that these fossil's exist in such large quantity yet there isn't a single example held by the British museum

I do believe in evolution, I just think that changes in species are probably very sudden (maybe 100 years) and not gradual adaptations which would make finding fossil records far more difficult

Thanks matt182, I didn't want for any jugement....(thinking like a 4 yr old). Just a recent observation that happened to coincide with the subject that I was interested in reading about.

I didnt mean it like that wantbfit, anyway yeah it is interesting, its kind of like my second interest (along with astronomy).

Ciarzys right too, thats a common misconception many people have.

Oh and accordiny to you CCR we must be witnissing these evolutionary changes if they occur that often :p
