Cory's Quest for a Healthier Life

The night out with co-workers sounds wild and energetic, and great dance exercise! :) The handsy co-workers not so good, of course, but at least you were able to put them in their place and they backed off.

YOU behaved like a normalperson on a night out. They... get to take the plausible deniability of having been drunk (and pretending not to remember). I expect everything to be fine.

Yesterday was a bit high. Wound up around 1900 calories. This is mostly because I forgot to log some candy I ate until the end of the day so I ate a snack without realizing I was going over.

Today was better. I had spaghetti and a cookie for lunch and salmon with a salad for dinner. I might have some grapes before bed. If I have the grapes, I'll be at 1541 calories for the day. If not, 1441.

I also got to the gym for the first time in 10 days today. It has drastically improved my mood. I did overhead press, late pull downs, stiff leg deads, glute bridges, planks, and some glute activation stuff. Achilles tendon seems like it's starting to feel better. The temptation is to go dance tomorrow, but I know it's too soon and I'll set myself back.

Glad to hear your tendon is starting to heal up. Remember that tendons tend to feel better quite soon but can "suddenly" start to hurt again when you load them up again. If that happens you may need to build it up again gradually (sneak up on it, so to say). Dance can be quite an explosive type of stress after all.

I did not go to dance today. Look ag me making smart choices. :p

I think I might try squatting late next week and maybe go back to dance the week after that.

Did ok on food today, but it wasn't great nutritionally. I was having some stomach upset and so went heavier on carbs, lower on fiber, and lower on protein. I was also gifted a brownie.

Lunch: spaghetti and small salad, 744 calories
Dinner: Peanut butter sandwich and tomato soup, 646 calories
Snack: brownie and oyster crackers, 362 calories
Total: 1752 calories

I'm trying to refocus on getting good sleep. I had a realization last night that my nightly average has gradually crept downwards from 7 hours to 4 hours per night. Got 7 last night and felt really good today.

7 wouldn't even be enough for me! To each their own though. Squatting would definitely give you more control on how much you're loading your Achilles' tendon than dance - assuming you won't be trying for your personal best right away.

Just a quick update today. Was in a little bit of a funk today. I wound up eating at maintenance and not doing anything when I got home. I literally just sat on the couch all evening.

Cory, I support your attempts to sleep better! I'm also having that problem!

Are you planning to start squatting with just your bodyweight or?

Hey Cory, thanks for your nice words on my diary, always good to hear from you.

I think your calories look reasonable for an active young woman, such as yourself. I know some days you go a little higher than planned, but it doesn't look like binge territory, so I think you are making progress.

Hope the funk has lifted.

Cory - that sitting on the couch feeling - I'm all too familiar with it. Completely non-productive, right? Understandable, though, because work can be pretty demanding and sometimes you just feel like, I'm holding up that end of the bargain, that's all that's going to happen today, that's it.

I'll probably start with the empty bar and gradually work my way up to a work set. These days, that's around 150 lbs. If it hurts I'll back off.

Ok, Friday was a shit show. The actual food I ate wasn't an issue, but people kept offering me treats because of Valentine's day. I wound up eating two doughnuts and a cupcake, then got bought two beers after work. I wound up just a hair over 3,000 calories. Definitely not the best day.

Yesterday was fine. Had a peanut butter and banana sandwich for lunch, at 400 calories. Ate at a kebab place for lunch at 997 calories and later had grapes for a snack at 152 calories. Total was 1549 calories.

It's nice that people wanted to give you treats on Friday, Cory. That shows what they think of you :)
