Cory's Quest for a Healthier Life

I. Will. Go. To. Zumba. Today.

I keep having to tell myself that. I really just want to get my hermit on and curl up on the couch with a book. I didn't get enough sleep last night and my feet are hurting today, but I really should go.

Food has been good today. Had half a grapefruit for breakfast, leftover BBQ iwth a side salad and an apple for lunch, and will be having venison stewed in gravy with brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes for dinner. I want some brussel sprouts. I don't have them often because they tend to be one of the more expensive vegetables, but I had a hankerin' for them today.

I really admire you for keeping up with the Zumba!! , i wish they did it at my Gym :p. Sounds like your doing awesome Cory :)

I wish that I liked brussels sprouts! I eat almost any vegetable but those for some reason I cannot. Haha besides those everything else sounds delicious! It's okay to take a day off once in awhile, especially if you are sore! But I really admire your will to go on with it. I could learn a thing or two from you!

Hey girlie, you might feel better after zumba - just take it easy - dont hurt your foot - and will be easier to sleep tonight!!

Your food sounds good (again!)

Enjoy the occasional (at some point I'm going to learn how to spell that word) night out. If you can see it coming ahead of time, sometimes you can make some minor adjustments earlier in the day to mitigate some of the damage. Don't mitigate too much, because you'll need some food to avoid drinking on an empty stomach (not good).

Nice work Cory! Lard Last Temptation of Reid good, lard in cake bad. Bonus points if that made sense to you.

I ate way too much dinner tonight.

But I still think I'm going to have a scoop of ice cream.

Alrighty. I'm having my first REAL cheat day. I am not exercising and I am eating whatever I want (I hear some chocolate pecan icecream calling to me from the freezer). This is the first time I've really done this since I started. Even on the days I relaxed the rules a bit, like Monday with the burger and booze or Saturday with the lard cake, I moderatedthe other stuff I ate during the day and my activity level so that I basically still came out ahead.

Not today though.

I don't know. I just feel like I need a break today. I've been feeling pretty run down the last couple of days, both physically and mentally. I'm thinking this cheat day and a good nigt's sleep are exactly what I need. Might try and do some stretching to try and work out the copious number of kinks in various muscles I've seemed to acquire.

I almost had a cheat day too - I wanted Mexican so badly...then i settled for some toasts...and spent the restaurant money instantly on amazon...bad of me...lol!

Rest days can actually be a real help in the long run (in my opinion!). It gets your body out of its typical routine. So yes, definitely enjoy it! Hope you are well!

Food should be good today. Just ate cereal and half a grapefruit for breakfast. I couldn't figure out what to do for lunch, but had a stroke of inspiration. I had 3 egg whites just sitting in the fridge from when I made egg noodles, a couple leftover roasted potatoes, and a few spare mushrooms. None of it was enough for a dinner portion by itself, but put all together it'll make a handy lunch. It all went into a mini casserole dish and I'm baking it like a single size breakfast casserole. Dinner will be beef stroganoff (well, deer actually). Not going to use as much sour cream as they suggest. I tend to think most recipes over-do it with the sour cream.

Going to zumba tonight. I'm ITCHING to go on a hike, but after it being sunny and in the 60s over the weekend, this week has been in the 30s and blowing snow. I'll be honest, March pisses me off. It's a bait and switch. "Spring is here! Wait, just kidding. TROLLOLOL!"

I totally know what you mean about March. While we haven't gotten anywhere near 60s yet, It was starting to warm up and be sunny. Then suddenly a massive snow storm... :( Ugh. Definitely with you on wanting to get outside! I was thinking of maybe walking down to the lake tomorrow since it is supposedly to *finally* reach the 40s!

Hope you are having a great day!

Wow - sounds like we should nominate you for "Chopped" on Food Network - great creativity for your breakfast there!

[SMARTASS]From deer, I believe.[/SMARTASS] :D

Actually, mine comes from a goose.

I all seriousness and to answer Don, I know A LOT of people who hunt. Between uncles and aunts, friends, friend's parents, and co-workers I can usually find someone to sell me some. I know there are places you can buy it online and they ship it to you, but it tends to be expensive and it's hard to know exactly where it came from. I like knowing where my meat comes from. My beef comes from my grandpa's cows and I trade veggies for eggs in the summer. I wish I could find somewhere to get good chicken, but haven't been successful yet.

On a different note, because my breakfast and lunch were light today I have about 1400 calories I can play with for dinner. When you aren't drinking soda or eating something fried, it is HARD to eat that many calories. o_O
