From someone who has a place to live, food to eat, car to drive, a computer and internet.
This is bull****. I work my ass off, and I still can't officially get divorced from a man who tried his damnedest to ruin my life because I need health insurance and can barely afford to take care of my kid still.
Georgen has a good point, all you need in this country is ambition and perseverance, with a little luck to suceed. My family came to this country with absolutely nothing, dad got a low paying job. Eventually worked our way up, after moving from apartment to apartment. And today we live in a nice 800K house, owning several businesses.
I was by no means whining or angry with you or any such.
What does any of this have to do with the issue of ' universal ' health care exactly ?
In the UK at least the health care that is public is poor, and you are put on a long long waiting list. Most people opt to privately insure themselves.
UK has a good public health service...
As long as everyone has their basic needs taken care of, I don't care if there's a system where you can pay for better service, etc, but i dont think money should = more likely chance to survive

Level of service is generally attached to money.
The best Doctors charge more.
However, the waiting list is huge, a relative of mine was put on a waiting list over a year long so paid the same doctor privately and got treated the same week
