LIVING IT-

I know exactly what you are going through, although all of that happened to me in the 2nd week not the first.

I work for an accountant, and was sitting at my desk at work and i blacked out.. i felt discusting.. couldnt even drink my water i thought i was going to die, seriously it was the worst feeling in the world, but i assure you it got better.

The sandwhich side of things i also understand, My boss bought his usual lunch from the take-away shop that we used to always get lunch from with the nicest sandwiches aswell along with some foods im not game to name on this forum as they are just too delicious!! hehe

I had to put his lunch onto a plate for him and thought i was going to crack, but didnt.. i stayed strong and it has been the BEST thing ive ever done.

Although having said that, i have been naughty lately.. very naughty actually.. and i havent lost any weight in a little while now. But i know this is my fault noone else's and i am managing to think toward's xmas which is just around the corner and i want to be done and re-fed by then, and i will do my best to be finished.

Once you have your taste of "Normal" food again it is so god damn hard to get your mind back on track.. ive deviated (only little tiny bits) all this week so far including the weekend, and by golly its not easy to get back on track, but ive had too.. ive got too much to lose.. or gain as it may be haha

Keep it up girl, you'll be there in no time. This is the hardest thing ive ever done in my life... but the MOST worthwhile thing ive ever done.. i feel fantastic, might even say myself that i LOOK darn fantastic.. all i need to do now is tone up and lose the last bit of weight that i have to.

You will be fine, believe me... this coming from someone who failed at every diet i ever went on.. This is by far the hardest but easiest way to lose weight, if that makes any sense :)

Just think 2007 is going to be a "SKINNY" Year for you, and no more feeling uncomfortable in your own skin.. Best of luck!!!!!!!!! xx

Bam - You have certainly got me back on track, I have lost over 2kg’s this week and now I can’t wait to be out of the 70’s and into the 60’s which then means not long until re-feed. Bam, we can do this and will do this. I can’t wait now. My hubby has decided that he will do it with me, not officially, but eat the same foods. This really does make my life easier and keeps me on track!
Send me your email address (do you have it on MSN?) and I will send through a whole heap of recipes.

No, I don’t think you are cheating and have moved mine to 67kg, which is also about 2kg’s above my goal. I really do believe I will be happy with this weight. 67kg means I only have 10kg to lose. We are so close Bam.

Well done with the clothes – I know what you mean about needing to buy more, I can’t say I’m sad about spending too much money on clothes though!

As for variety in food, I did not become “overweight” because of lack in variety. I stick to the same types of food on Cohens, because it is food I like and it is working for me!

Babyegg – enjoy the moment at Christmas and your birthday and then jump straight back on the wagon!

Moni – I also nearly lost my Baby at 2 and a half earlier this year, and I agree, it absolutely changed my life forever and was a part of the reason for doing this. I hope all is OK with your kids and congratulations for making it to the end.

Momma – I’m so happy for you that all dignity is restored, what a fantastic achievement.

Living it – you poor thing, in another week you will be feeling much better.

Less fatty - Could you please give me a general weight of your chicken, meat and fish and their veg allowances? My husband is following my meals without weighing and he really only needs to lose about 5kg. So, I thought if I just had a general idea of how much he could eat it would be easier for us both.

I bought myself a new strapless sexy dress for a ball I am attending in 3 weeks. Can I say, I look HOT. All the woman (not sales assistants) in the shop loved the dress on me and my husband nearly fell over when I walked out, he had the biggest smile on his face. I can’t wait for everyone to see me in it!

I had my official 8 week weigh in on Friday and have officially lost 14kgs and 53cm.

A big HAPPY BIRTHDAY for Thursday BAM.:D

Hey everyone

Hi Living it and anyone else I have missed that is new, welcome and good luck with the program- the detox is the hardest part, if you can make it to week 3 its easy as, well I was going to say cake but don't want to... anyway I am in week three and don't feel hungry, only physcological cravings (and weird stuff too!)

A question for the girls- In my first 12 days I dropped 5.5 kgs and consequently (I think) have had my period ever since (its been about a week now and really really heavy) I am on the pill and half way through my normal cycle so this is really weird, should I be worried? also I have not lost a thing this week and I mean nothing... could this be because I have a heavy period? I don't know, I'm sticking to the program but I'm not happy and becoming really discouraged, does this sound familiar to anyone or does anyone know what it going on?

My apologies to Lessfatty and all the other men on the forum- its the 'backstage' stuff you don't want to know about I know. By the way Lessfatty, I have decided that once I reach goal weight (fingers crossed by my birthday) I am going to have a holiday in Japan for my b'day! bring on the bad singing and wasabi!!

Oh my God I almost forgot HAPPY BIRTHDAY BAM!!! I wish I could come up and celebrate it with you! (I'm crossing my fingers for a brand new Rav4 for you for your b'day! hehe)

Checking my Ticker!!

Hi,

Got through my first day OK:D
Hoping my ticker is working:confused:
Hope you all have a great Cohens day tomorrow.

Well everyone, I just wanted to say that tonight I have finished refeed!! Yes, finally, and I am thrilled. It has been a long journey. Glad to hear you did too Moni - congratulations to you.

Well, the rest of you are all moving those tickers and getting there, all I can say is that it will be worth it so stick with it. Believe that you can do it and enjoy the ride!!

Regards,
lizzi

Hi Lizzie

Congratulations!

Can you share with us how many kilos you lost and how long it took?

also, have you achieved the top, middle or bottom of your 'ideal weight range'?

As you know, I am three months off refeed, and am starting to believe this weight now. This is starting to feel 'like me' and to feel that I can rely on it.

Now that you have finished I hope your credit card is also in good shape so that you can enjoy stocking your wardrobe and wearing lovely, light and fashionable clothes for summer!

Well done

Chelsea

Hi All,
I am a new member to the forum and today will be the start of week 3 on Cohens. I have been so motivated by reading your posts over the last few weeks -- Thanks so much!
Louise and Melly P -- I think we are on the same stage and i also have 12 kilos to lose. Feels like alot to me! Hopefully we can do this together!!

Here is my question -- the first week on, I lost close to 4 kilos right away and then since then, I am stuck. Can you tell me if this is normal, like maybe your body's metabolism slows and its waiting for you to cheat? Does something more happen in week 3 or 4?? Help, I am trying to stay motivated but am a little disappointed.

I have not deviated at all? Thanks!!!

Hello Everybody!

I had quite the interesting nite last night. I woke up in the middle of the night and realized a light hade been left on in the children's walk-in closet. When I looked in the closet I could see that the string for the light had flipped up and was caught making it out of reach for my children. I stepped into the closet (which has a laminated wood floor), reaching up for the string when all of a sudden my feet felt like they were on a smoother than glass surface - before I could even think of evasive measures I was doing the splits - spread eagle style! Ian, my two year old, had "polished" the floor with an extra thick coat of wood polish the day before (Mommy's little helper!). Talk about slick!! The funniest part was the floor was so slick I couldn't get up - and I was laughing so hard and crying (from the pain - my legs haven't spread that wide since I was doing routines on the dance team in High School!) that I couldn't call loud enough to wake anyone up to help for quite a few minutes!! Needless to say - I am really sore this morning and I am REALLY scared of tomorrow and the next day! It was too bad that there was no video camera to catch it on tape! It would have been a classic! :D

Yesterday was the end of week three for me and I am excited to have a ticker update! I can't wait for the next three weeks! This is getting more and more fun each day! Sunday I put on a dress that was a little tight - and was disappointed thinking - well I guess I haven't come down very much in size after all - then I realized I had grabbed the wrong one (I have some outfits that are duplicates in different sizes - the results of very rapid weight gain) - it was the smaller dress I had grabbed!! When I realized that - it no longer felt snug - IT FELT AWESOME!! :)

Hello Living It! Glad to have you here! We live by a lake - and to get to some places you have to drive around the lake - at the top side of the lake there just isn't a whole lot of anything - in my first week I had some errands to run and was driving around the top part of the lake when that sudden bathroom urge hit sooo strong! I started speeding and praying for any establishment that might have a bathroom - I seriously was in fear of wetting my pants!! Finally - there was a gas station - I got out (left the car running even) and went inside desperately searching the walls for the bathroom sign - could not see it ( I was panicing!) asked the cashier where the restrooms were at - they casually replied - "We only have an outhouse out back." I was so desperate - I gratefully thanked them and used the outhouse!!

MellyPI loved your Flabbergasted definition - how about this one - Infatuated - When you eat a non - Cohen approved food because you used to love it:p

For all of you who have a Nicole to lose - I figure I have an Arnold Schwarzenlegger to lose!! I figure I have dropped one of his biceps so far!

Mermaid Sister Quoting my midewife:"Your cycle is one of the best ways for your body to dump toxins - I would not be too worried about a longer cycle unless the bleeding was bright red or had a strange odor or something that signified an infection or problem." And it also is common to retain fluids during your cycle so don't fret over the scale not moving - the fat still is. Trust your body - it wants to be thin as much as you do! ;)

LessFatty Two whole pages with out a post from you - are you feeling alright? Way to go on the 104 goal being accomplished!!:D

Well - that's all the time I have for the moment! Keep up the great work ya'll!

Momma Pajama

Thanks Chelsea - it feels so good! And you seem to be maintaining well. This next jprocess of maintaining will be interesting too - just finding out where the boundaries are.

I was a slow one - the metabolism worked very slowly. But I am thrilled to say I lost 55 kilo in 65 weeks and 4 days, which is 15 months. I really feel I have graduated from a mammoth course!! I was so slow that Dr Cohen gave me the option to stop a few months ago, have 3 months off, then maybe get a new program to finish. But I persevered until now which was my cut-off date. And I am glad I did.

I didn't reach my goal, but I am only a bit up from it. I will complete the process in 3 to 6 months time.

How much? I lost 55 kilo and my goal was 49 - 52kgs. There was an error with my height, so it should have been 48-51kgs! So I feel I need to lose 7kilos.

So I will keep this off, enjoy my holiday and the Christmas season, do some toning which my body drastically needs - then deal with the extra kilos. If I were to do it now it would take another 10 weeks, so I am happy to stop now.

Now just out of interest: I lost 55kilos and I weigh 54kilos. I can visibly see what I lost + 1!!! Also I lost a further 17kilos over the 2 years before, without using Cohens, so that gives me a total loss of 72kilos

It was so good not to have to weigh breakfast this morning!!

Good Morning Everyone,

Hope you are all going well. I enjoy reading all the posts so much. Keeps me sane knowing that you are all out there 'living it' with me.

This Friday will be my 8 week weigh-in. I am a little nervous as I am convinced that I have not lost any weight since the first month. I am still in the same clothes??? I admit they are a little loose but I just can't seem to shift my gut. I feel as though it is going to remain exactly the same and I'll end up looking like a walking keg! My tummy is pretty badly stretched (all babies were over 9 and a half pounds) and I can't see the elasticity ever returning. I fear I will be tucking it into my undies forever!

Living it - it is pretty tough the first few days but that's where the old power of the mind will help you through. You have to change your focus. I understand all this is easier said than done - but really it will work and you will feel so proud of yourself. It's hard not to obsess over food but you must have other great things in your life? Think ahead - ahh!!!! Skinny!!!

Lizzi - You're amazing. Enjoy life outside Cohen's. I hope all you have dreamed of comes you way. What a wonderful achievement. Congratulations.

Bam - Hang in there lovey! I have to admit that last week I had my first major deviation. I too will refrain from listing what I ate in an attempt to help those of you struggling! But I certainly went overboard and it was/is sooooooooo bloody hard to get back on isn't it? I think it is the whole idea that we haven't been this weight for so long that it feels so good that we may as well stop. You know what I mean? But, as for me if I am honest with myself I am still over weight. Yes, I look good now but I can look a hell of a lot better. BRING IT ON! (only one more sleep till your Birthday!)

Mermaid Sister - There is no doubt that rapid weight loss can do strange things to your cycle. If you are really concerned see a Dr of course. Keep drinking water to flush out your system and if you are feeling faint, weak or tired maybe your iron needs a check up as well. Don't let it go on for too long. I hope you are alright.

Ok all, have a great day - hope you are feeling strong.
Bye.

20 KG Down

Dear All

Momma; sorry I havent replied ,after the bum wiping and discussions on periods (or the lack of them) ... I didnt really have much to contribute :D

Well after a slow week, I increased my water intake to 5.5 liters/day (its a lot of toilet trips) but I cracked the 20KG loss barrier today. So I am feeling good and looking forward to my next mini-goal 101.5 (1/2 way) and 99.9 (double figures).

I walked past a mirror today, and I thought that I didn't look obese anymore. Should I meet someone for the first time I hope they wouldnt think of me as a "fat guy" (ie. lazy, no-self control, low intelligence) , and more just "overweight".

Well it is autumn in Japan and great to be outside being active. Tokyo doesnt have many fine days per year, so I making the most of them. I have been riding my bike everywhere, drinking coffee (black, diet sugar). Autumn is also the time of harvest in Japan so there are soooooooo many great seasonable foods right now...must resist temptation!

I "celibrated" 10 years in Japan last week; a good time to ask the question why we do what we do? Why do I live in Tokyo when I dont really like living here (a great place to visit)? Why do I continue with I job I have no interest in performing particularly to the highest level? Unlike movies where good and evil do battle, real life is a battle between the good and the better mixed up in competing objectives. It is so hard to motivate yourself to move from an OK "place" to a potentially better "place". My brain just says "Its OK where you are now, change is hard work". If I make a change (return to OZ or other country, new job) it could/should be better but I am not sure. Kind of like why I was fat for 10 years, I got through each day OK, I wanted to be thinner of course, but it was alwasy a good time to have that latte, pasta, sushi and everything else. What was the trigger in each of us that made us decide to take disciplined action, sign up for Cohen and stick with it to lose weight? What else in my life should I also take disciplined action to make change?

Mermaid sister, well when you come to Tokyo, I would be happy to show/drive you around and have some sushi (if you like it).

Princessoz, I will send you a message.

Support for the Cohen Lifestyle Clinic - a great website

Hi, I'm currently doing a program called "Dr Cohen's Lifestyle Program". Is anyone else out there also doing this program and looking to give/receive support. I have lost 30 kg in 4 months and am finding this program just incredible!! :p

Hi there RJM,
WOW!!! Congratulations. You are doing so well losing 30 kgs in 4 months!!!

I have recentlry lost 23 kilos on the same Cohen Lifestyle Clinic program - and I totally agree with you - it's incredible. I have never experienced weight loss success like it from any other diet - and I've tried a lot of diets.

If you are looking to receive and offer support you may want to check out my website - which started out as a humble little blog to online journal for my weight loss. Now it's a full website with over 286 pages. You can read my weight loss journey from start to... completion and beyond with maintenence. There are also weight loss success stories from my girlfriends who are also on the Cohen Lifestyle Clinic program and seeing great results, plus recipes, weight loss photos, coaching tips, plus my daily journal updates for all the stages of the program, the 'refeeding' and 'life after the program'.

I'm getting great feedback from this website, and the Cohen Lifestyle clinic in Sydney Australia have put a link to my website on their newsletters cos they are pumped about my website as a helpful tool for their clients.

Here's the web address so you can check it out:

I'd welcome any postings from you about your progress - you may want to be one of my regular contributors yourself to inspire others.

Love to hear from you.

Hello - I am new

Hello Everyone,

I am day 10 into my Cohens and WOW! Two people from my work have done it and I just had to try it when I saw them shink in front of my eyes:eek:

It has been great to read all your posts and I find them very motivating - Thanks.

The hunger pains are still there a little during the day and I feel like I am drowning in water, but apart from that I feel fine. My clothes are definately looser and my cheekbones are coming back - can I even be losing from my fingers??

I would love to continue my journey with you guys as you are so inspirational.

Have a great day and ..have a sip of water:p

Lizzi - well done on getting to the end. I must admit the refeed in week two is so comlicated add this take that. Keep us informed with your progress.

Zelda -I love your storey (I believe the diet is God sent, I am a member of a AOG in Melbourne). Just a small comment there is so much advertising on the site it is hard to navigate.

Karol

Ticker update~

Yesterday was my 12th week weigh-in~, had quite a slow mth with quite a few deviations here and there, but at least i lost some! I got past the half way mark! looking forward to passing the finishing line! :D

~BAM~ is officially addicted to Sugarfree Chewing Gum!

Goodafternoon all you strong and willful people! :) (Hope that made sense)

1st of all- THANKYOU ALL FOR YOUR BIRTHDAY WISHES!!!

2nd of all- Im addicted to chewing gum :( I am having more then 5 peices a day, because im a smoker and each time i go and have a ciggerette i take a peice out then have another fresh peice... Ot OOOO Anyways, my question to you all is... Does anyone know why there is a 5 peice per day rule?.. Is it so we dont look like Cows?.. i dont get it..

Im still having trouble eating, i am not hungry.. the thought of food makes me sick.. might just be the "cohen's" food thats making me feel ill.. got no idea?
I really need to focus 110% till the end..

Welcome to all the newbies once again :)

PRINCESSOZ- Yes my email address is the same as my Msn, please email me any receipe's you have, im drying here...

Well thats me done for the day, have an appointment tonight with my consultant, to tell her how naughty ive been and to see the scales only move a fraction.. but im ready for it, and i wont be dissapointed.. coz ITS ALL MY FAULT!!! hehe

Take care everyone, keep up the great work! You all deserve the prize in the end :) x

Lessfatty i know what you mean about making change happen and the dificulty. I am about to walk away from a job i enjoy (am not passionate about it anymore though) and take a $40,000 a year pay cut.
Why? because i don't get to spend enough time with my future husband.
Why? cause there's more to life than work even if it is a comfortable job.
Why? Cause money isn't everything - only a means to support a desire to purchase more shit. (sorry guys, but it had to be said)
Why? cause you reach a point where you don't feel ALIVE... which will either motivate you, or you will just curl up and slowly die.
Making the decision to lose weight has made you feel ALIVE, which is why you are Re-assessing the other things in your life. One of my favourite Quotes is "If you always do what you've always done, you will always get what you've always got".
You are either happy with that, or you make the change.
