Heavenly lamb and lessfatty

Congratulations to each of you on achieving 20 kilos.

This is marvellous and so quickly! I'm sure this is also very encouraging to you and that people must be starting to notice.

Chelsea

Thanks Chelsea,
Yes, most people have noticed now, although some just look with a quizzical expression.
I'm about 4 kg off where I STARTED losing weight after my first baby. So, I think once I get down below that mark, then it will begin to be more obvious, cause I'm going beyond my "natural" weight into skinniness!

Just a quick ticker up date.... I'm Melting!!! I have to look at the scales on a regular basis as i find each little bit helps to keep me on track and reaffirm that i'm doing the right thing..... if i only weighed monthly i think i would be deviating constantly!

8 Weeks down

Hi everyone,
Well I have officially completed 8 weeks on Cohen's! Yipee for me - however inside I am really crying!!! I have not long returned from the clinic and I am feeling somewhat deflated.:(

After such a wonderful start - well I think it was anyway - I have only lost a total of 5 kilo's this month. I can't believe that!

I have been so good - I even started excercising to get things moving a bit and also to start toning up. I did deviate for the first time last week but in all honesty it was not that bad. OK, Ok, I can hear you already - ANY deviation is a bad deviation! There's the bitter resentful side of me that now wishes I had eaten everything in my sight if I knew I was only going to lose 5! I know I sound ungrateful but I feel the punishment doesn't fit the crime - you know???

Anyway, I am obsessing when I should be rejoicing as that 5 kilo's aint coming back and it has put me closer to where I want to be. Only one kilo away from the half way mark.

Sorry to be so negative and self indulgent - just venting.;)

I hope you are all going well.:D

Bye

My weightloss begin to slow down... I don't know isit because of my menstruations.... This week, I've not lose any kg. Does anyone has this problem too?

And also, my menstruation seems more heavier b4 I start the diet prog... Every hour I gotta go toilet and change once.

I tot i was the only one facing such problem.

During my first month of the diet, my period lasted for more than 2weeks (i have had such problem 3yrs ago- lasted more then a month, but was ok after 2months of correcting the hormones by taking the PILL prescibe by doc)

Month two, my period was so heavy and diluted that i tot i was peeing, had to change tampon- super size, every 2hours. One morning, when i climb out of bed, as i stand - i left a big mess on the floor. It was so frightening that i tot i would die due to massive blood lost. All this lasted abt 10days

Month three, it got better, not so heavy as month two, still diluted, but lasted abt 7 to 8days

i had that problem 2 weeks+ ago... near to the end of my 3rd mth on the diet... my period lasted for 2 weeks+, which the 1st 3 days was hell~ , i had to chang a tampon every 1 to 2 hrs... imagine.. i used up a box of 32 tampons in juz 2-3 days.. after the 3th day.. i couldn't take it animore.. went to see a doc about it... got some medicine and the heavy flow stopped after a day.. and was back to normal discharge..., juz hoping my next period wouldn't have the same prob... :(

hey ladies, i'm a woman too, but please remember this forum is for everyone, MOST females will have problems with menstration as it is just a way of cleaning out toxins from the body. Can we please realise that and leave any futher "Period" talk out of the forum If you have a major concern please talk to your consultant or a doctor.
Sorry to be a Kill joy, but it's making me uncomfortable (and i'm pretty self aware and open minded) so i'd hate to think about what it's doing for our male counterparts who are using this site as support for losing weight.
please don't take any offence.....

Oh and HANG IN THERE 8-2 Much a 5 kg loss is awesome and way better than NO WEIGHT LOSS. just think if you had given in and gobbled all the food you wanted to gobble... not only would it have been self destructive but you probably would have PUT ON 5kg!!! (trust me, if i can put on 2kg in a week from going on holiday, then it's definately possible to put on 5kg in a month!)
also remember how much hard work it would of been to loose 5kg in a month if you weren't on Cohen's........ sweating it out at the gym twice a day AND still having to watch what you put in your mouth!!!!
You are now 5kg closer to your goal.... WELL DONE!!!

Hi,
5 kg is still great... IF you were on a normal diet/ weight watchers etc, you would have been lucky to lose 2-3 kg in a month!
But it may be that the exercise and toning has slowed things down a bit. How is your centimetre loss going? Muscle weighs more than fat, so if you are increasing your muscle bulk thru exercising, sometimes you will not lose weight fast, but the centimetre loss will be significant. I think that is more likely to be a factor than one deviation.
But I also think the weight loss slows down a bit as you come closer to your goal weight.
Also, your weight at the clinic can be determined by other things, like whether you had eaten or drunk water before you were weighed. (water weighs alot!). Thats one of the reasons I prefer to weigh at home more regularly. and I try to go in the morning, and only drink small amounts before my weigh in.
But, you are doing great and dont give up just because you thought you should have lost more! Think about the other health and appearance benefits you've achieved as well.

[Hi everyone, I hope everyone is having a good week.

8-2much: You should be so proud of what you have achieved. You have lost 13kgs in 8 weeks!!!! A 5kg loss last month equals to 10 margarine containers. Put them side by side or pick them up in your arms and you can feel what you are now not carrying around with you. Well done and don't be so hard on yourself. :) It all adds up in the end.

Bam: happy birthday for yesterday. I hope you had a wonderful and enjoyable day.

Brieziel: your words echoed my thoughts. With all respect to everyone, sometimes there is too much information.

Tasm82: congratulations to both of you. Your hubby is going full steam ahead and is already at refeed. Well done. :D

asyoz: 40kgs - fantastic achievement. You must feel and look so different. Very inspiring!!

Heavenlylamb and lessfatty: Congratulations to you both on reaching 20kg loss. Congratulations.

I have had some challenging days this week and I seem to have come to a standstill. I actually measured my tuna this morning (95g tin net) and was surprised that there was only 80g of tuna. I took it for granted that I was having the required 95g of fish. I thought net meant that there was 95g but I have been shortchanging myself. Cohen's sent me some reading material yesterday and it says you should stick to the exact quantities in your plan to trigger HGH. Need to buy the bigger tin and measure it out and be more diligent.

I hope you all have a good weekend..... and keep up the good work......

re tuna sizes

I have found that there can be even less tuna than 80g in those tins!! I have 110g fish for my meal 3, and I often swap and have that for lunch. The John West tuna slices (185g) come down to being very close to 110g when they are drained. I couldn't find any tins where I wasn't wasting half the tin or having to use 1 1/2 tins to get the right amount.

Karol you look amazing

Hi Karol,

What a transformation. Those pictures tell their story. You look gorgeous and so different. Congratulations and thanks for sharing. Very inspirational and motivating.

Hungry?

Hi everyone, I hope you have had a great week! :D Yay that the weekend has arrived! I have a question...... does anyone else notice that they get really hungry after having a cheese breakfast?? I had some mozerella, tomato and mushroom on carckers this morning and I have been hungry all day. Also I am 3 weeks in and I have been getting some stinking rip snorting head aches over the last couple of days???:( Does anyone know what could be causing this?? I have been following my plan to the tee, I think only once I may have had a bit too much salad and not enough protein as I didn't have scales and was out to lunch with work?? What could I be doing wrong??

Dont Quit

I thought I might share this with you guys, I'm not sure who wrote it but I love it.

Don't Quit

When you've eaten too much and you can't write it down,
And you feel like the biggest failure in town.
When you want to give up just because you gave in,
and forget all about being healthy and thin.
So What! You went over your grams a bit,
It's your next move that counts...So don't you quit!
It's a moment of truth, it's an attitude change.
It's learning the skills to get back in your range.
It's telling yourself, "You've done great up till now.
You can take on this challenge and beat it somehow."
It's part of your journey toward reaching your goal.
You're still gonna make it, just stay in control.
To stumble and fall is not a disgrace,
If you summon the will to get back in the race.
But, often the struggler's, when loosing their grip,
Just throw in the towel and continue to slip.
And learn too late when the damage is done,
that the race wasn't over...they still could have won.
Lifestyle change can be awkward and slow,
but facing each challenge will help you grow.
Success is failure turned inside out,
the silver tint in a cloud of doubt.
When you're pushing to the brink, just refuse to submit,
If you bite it, you write it....But don't you quit!
:)

Hi MellyP

Are the headaches of the same or similar type to the first day headache?

If so, have a look at where in the day you are eating carbohydrates - and this includes the sugar in the fruit.

Are you eating fruit and crispbread for breakfast? Try yoghurt and eg kiwifruit for breakfast, and an apple and crispbread about three hours later, then crispbread about two hours after lunch, and then crispbread about two hours after dinner, perhaps with the balance of your fruit allowance.

The refeeding / maintenance notes suggest not eating carbohydrates until mid morning, particularly the carbohydrates found in nuts. OK, yes, it is highly unlikely that you have nuts on your program, but perhaps the mid-morning carbohydrate rule could apply to you.

I had the first day headache, probably one of the most severe headaches it has ever been my displeasure to experience, yet throughout the program I had no other headache or any other ailment - no colds, or any other plagues either. My pattern was the crispbread at about 10.30am, so for what it's worth you may care to try this and see if it helps.

However, don't hesitate to take normal analgesics such as aspirin or paracetamol for headaches while on the program. There is no need to leave yourself in pain.

Hope you're feeling better soon

Regards

Chelsea

Hi Chelsea,
Thanks!:) The headaches arnt the same as the first day headache, they go from the back of my neck(base of skull) and wrap around to my eyes. I have been taking some asprin and it seems to releive it. But I must say I have been feeling cold to the core lately, I hope it's not because a cold is lurking!!
About the hunger, I have only had the cheese cracker thing one other time for breakfast and I can't honestly remeber if it made me hungry or not?? I usually go the egg option and maybe once or twice a week the yoghurt, kiwi fruit option. But I always have 2 crackers with breaky, no fruit, I have fruit with my lunch with 1 cracker and then with dinner with 2 crackers. I very rarely eat the fruit or cracker snacks between meals. Do you think it could be garlic powder at all??? I have had a bit more of that lately, not a great deal but more than I did before??

Hello

Hello All

I have had such a dreadful week, that all i wanted to do tonight was sit down with a bottle of wine and drown my sorrows away. I had two days where i could not eat my third meal because i had been run off my feet, but i think it is also part of the adjustment stage and i am slowely getting use to the food and how to control it....

i was so use to being controlled by food.
its a strange feeling starting to actually control it myself!

Anyway, all the water is a torture.... but i am trying the best i can.

Melly P - you could just be having a tension headache. Stressed at all? or it could be your eyesight? Just a thought....

Anyway. off for some cheese (the first in 5 days) and i am excited.

You know what i did that was really stupid. I did not do a weight check before is started because i did not want to get depressed.... cant report on any loss, although i don't feel any?

Next week is a new week with no mistakes it. I will try better!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. I can not wait to post that i have lost 20kg!

Fish Oil

Hi All,
I have been wondering if any of you have been taking fish oil capsules with your supplements and if it has helped, hurt or not affected your weight loss? I used to take them for health benefit prior to Cohens but I am not sure if it is a good idea or not. I thought it helped you lose weight, does anyone know?

I hardly eat any fish at all.

you are all doing so great -- I am so motivated by this group!!

Hi Lucy,
I don't think fish oil capsules are allowed on the program. But I've been taking evening primrose oil to get essential fatty acids. I don't know if its affected my weight loss, but I find the mixture of EPO and St Johns Wort affects my mood and energy levels. Last time I lost weight I got very depressed in the process. But this time, no such problems. I think the fish oil tablets could affect weight loss on this program, because you'd be mixing proteins.
