hello again

Want to get a life bac - Good on ya girlfriend! The first week of trnsition is hard, but you stick with it and you will see success! You will get your life back and more. Isnt so hard to make the plunge though! I was at the point where I sort of thought, well im too big to go to the gym with all the 'beautiful people'....maybe the people at cohens will judge me too...but I was so wrong hey! Theyre really supportive and really want to see everyone get their lives back on track!

LessFatty - to answer your question - I chose Cohen's for a number of reason's - 1) I've tried those other 2 million diets and have had mixed results -but ultimately none of them got me to my goal - 2) the past experiences have taught me a few things - what DOESN'T work for one - and some key ingredients that need to be part of a diet program that will work for me 3) I had already determined through trial and error that hormones and chemicals in the body were a very important part of weight loss - not just calories or types of food - so it hit on some self discovered truths - and 4) it came highly reccommended by my sister's midwife who was having great results with it.

I also liked the fact that it was personalized. No two people are alike - especially chemically speaking! So I really liked the fact that it was targeted to me individually. Honestly, after getting the program - I am not certain if 5 grams this way or that is that crucial - it seems hard to believe that it could all boil down to being a few bites difference - BUT - I didn't do the research - so - for now - I am satisfied with weighing everything to the very gram and am enjoying the results. Maybe, after I lose 200lbs - I might start doing some personal experimenting - to see if a gram or two really rocks the boat or not. It would be interesting to see -

I appreciate your reminder about the first two weeks being atypical. I realize that. I would be EXTREMELY surprised to have the weight continue at that pace. I know there are many factors for this first weight being so great - 1) It was VERY new fat - just had come on in the last month - so it hadn't unpacked it's bags and called anywhere home - I expected it to leave pretty fast - 2) I have been retaining A LOT of water - MANY, MANY grams of water weight in this ol' body! 3) You also have to remember that I am "Morbidly Obese" - I have A LOT to lose - so if you look at it percentage wise - I am doing the same as others.

Regardless - I was going to be thrilled with half that much - so the extra is a double treat!

Good Luck Ya'll!

Momma Pajama

P.S. I have heard rumors that some people put the weight back on very rapidly after Cohen's - Any thoughts on that anyone?

Morning Every body

Just back from a long black at 'Smoken Joes' - Thanks Jewls for organising that. I appreciate the opportunity to meet and talk with those of you still reducing.

This 'other' Forum has been mentioned in relation to my history on the program, so here is the link.

My thread is an offshoot from an earlier thread regarding body mass index and time spent in front of the computer, which is why my opening remarks refer to 'following (this thread) with much interest'.

By the way, Momma Pyjama, congratulations on a great start. I am three months since official completion 24th June and more than two months since finish of refeed, and holding steady at 59.5kilos.

For those of you who decide to follow the link, I hope you enjoy the thread and although it got sidetracked (sabotaged?) a couple of times just skip over the extraneous posts.

However, there are other embedded links - the pictures of the fat cells are worth a look! A picture says a thousand words and these really illustrate how the body stores the fat.

Cheers

Chelsea

Just updated my ticker :p

Anyway, though im going thru the interim only...But I felt terrific. Lost quite a few kgs within 2 weeks and I cant wait to lose more.

One problem for me, i tend to skip meals especially on weekends. I wake up at around 11am and I had bfast, skipped lunch and I had my dinner ard 7pm.

I deviated twice... :X Peanut biscuits!!! But Im controlling myself, not to deviate again :)

Momma Pajama, Congrats on your successful weightloss!

so, Chelsea and LessFatty, I wonder how many of the Cohen-ite forum end up hooked on property investment, compared to us property investors who got hooked on Cohens?!

Hi Ya'll!

But ....... big drum roll ............ I got there today and after 11 days on the program ..... I am down an AMAZING 9 KG !!! I was not expecting that! It was way cool!! I don't know if the same thing will happen in the next 11 days - but I'll take it if it does!!

Momma Pajama

Hey, Momma Pajama! CONGRATULATIONS!! Thats fantastic.

I lost a lot in my first week (5kg) and it obviously slowed down after then, but I didn't care. That kick start just makes it so much easier to keep going. I've now lost around 18kg in less than 3 months. When I did other programs in the past, it took me 12 months to lose 20kg. So, every fantastic weight loss week is a bonus for me!
I had a 2kg week this week, which I was very happy with. (generally, I'm doing 1.5 or so, depending on how many business meals I have during the week!)
I tried on 2 outfits which didn't fit me last week, and they do this week. So, I have another work outfit, and a wedding outfit for when my step daughter gets married at the end of October.. hopefully it will look fantastic by then, instead of a bit tight.

wahwah  , 2 weeks 8.4 kg wo~~ great gal... continue to " lou you"~~~ :D

Hello to you all I hope you are all having a good weekend?

I had bad news this morning from my Cohens Consultant, that I have not been approved to do the programme as I had a Stroke approx 3 months ago.

I have 50kgs to loose and have been advised by medicos to do so. I feel so upset and let down. Since Monday of this week I have been doing the preparation for Cohens, from a previous post and I have lost 2kg as of today. Looks like I will try to keep doing what I have been doing this week and hope I still continue to loose the weight.

I will continue to read this forum as you have all been so inspiring to me.

Good luck to you all.

I received this information from my clinic today............

NEW CRISBREADS

Yes that’s right Dr Cohen has just finished testing some crispbreads and soft drink so you can have a little more variety. Please note that Paradise Lites have bought out a new range of crispbreads in replace of the ones you currently use and they are not allowed on the program. We have found that clients have been having trouble getting them in supermarkets, so if your supermarket still has stock of the old ones and you like them stock up on them.

Here are the new ones allowed…………..

Nabisco Premium 98% Fat free

Nabisco Premium Crispbread

Arnott’s Salada Light 97% Fat free

Arnott's Salada Original

PLEASE NOTE AT THIS STAGE THE WHOLEMEAL AND FIBRE IN THE ABOVE RANGE ARE NOT ALLOWED AND ALSO THAT 1 SANDWHICH SIZE CRISPBREAD = 2 CRISPBREADS

NEW SOFT DRINK

Yep new soft drink as well how exciting LOL, only people on the program will understand the excitement of new allowed food LOL LOL

P & N: Diet Pub Squash (max 350ml/daily)

Fanta Zero (max 350ml/daily)

Solo The Sub (max 350ml/daily)

Schweppes: Diet Dry Ginger Ale (max 350ml/daily)

The only Cola/Pepsi/Coke without Caffeine is Diet Coke – Caffeine free.Coles (Farmland) Diet Cola, Coke Zero, Pepsi Max and Pepsi Light all contains caffeine.

Dr Cohen has also said that if you don’t drink coffee then you can have diet coke with caffeine however you need to be very aware that too much caffeine will make you hungry and can also slow your weight loss

and this came through last week, but I forgot to post it

SWEETNERS & CONDIMENTS

I just wanted to let you know that Dr Cohen has now given us a limit of only 5 sweetener tablets per day and no more than 1 teaspoon in total of Garlic, Chilli and ginger fresh or powered. If you go over this amount it will cause a deviation, plus could cause hunger.

You must be very disappointed. However I can understand why Cohen may not have accepted you. I believe that the Cohen diet is quite tough, not extremely tough, but tough on your metabolism particular the first week or so, I can imagine that 1stpersonal diet does want to take a risk with people who they think may not be well enough. But I can imagine your upset.

That being said I favor the diet, it shares many simularities with Cohens, yet I think it is a more gentle program both in regard to your metabolism and most likely in lower rate of weight loss. Some tend to say that Cohens is a "miracle" diet, I dont believe in miracles particularly with diets.

Having a stroke to me raises the red flag, both that as you know you need to take action to reduce weight and that to take care when reducing. At the core of Cohens is a low carb (not zero, as there are fruits and some crackers) , low fat, with vegetables and meats high in tryptophan which helps with seretonin production. I sure that with a good "supportive" doctor/dietician that you will be able to slim down.

Hey everyone!

hope you are all enjoying the weekend.

Chelsea- Thanks so much for your inspiring words it means alot, you are terrific at putting things in perspective! I do look back and congradulate myself at the end of every day for my achievements- I guess I was just being impatient to reap the rewards!

Momma Pajama- Well done on an excellent weight loss! you are 10% there already! and so soon in the program all the while taking care of so many beautiful children!, you deserve a standing ovation!

GB59- I'm sorry do hear that you cannot do the program, however if you stick to Cohen guidelines and cut down carbs and fat, you will very likely have sucess- don't fret we are all still here for guidence and support (ask lessfatty anything, he seems to be a professor in biochemistry) I wish you all the luck, strength and motivation in the world

Heavenlylamb- Thanks for the news flash on the Cohen update, I think I have to cut down on Garlic powder now! (sucks!)- maybe thats why I have been hungry! I add it to my salad dressing I make and also sprinke it on all my meats in the george foreman grill.

Already I can't wait to eat normal food again! how funny is that, its still a long way away but it will be worth it

Yum! Yum! Yum!

Hello all you lovely people! I had the most fabulous meal for lunch today so I thought I would share the recipe with you all...It was FANTASTIC! Here it is!

Chicken & Mushroom Salad with Creamy Mango Dressing

Ingredients
Chicken Breast (allowance)
Shallots, small Mushrooms, Lettuce (allowance)
Mango – Diced (fruit allowance)
1 teaspoon low fat Mayonnaise
Dried Basil & Mint
Dash White Wine Vinegar
Olive Oil Spray
Seasoning (I use a grinder with coarse sea salt, whole black pepper, garlic granules, parsley & oregano)

Procedure
To make the dressing, mash ¼ of the mango and add mayonnaise, white wine vinegar, basil and mint. Mix together well.
Slice shallots and reserve a little for garnishing. Halve the mushrooms and shred the lettuce. Dice and season the chicken. Cook chicken in a lightly sprayed pan until almost done. Add mushrooms and shallots and cook quickly. Arrange chicken, mushrooms, shallots and ¾ of the mango on top of the lettuce. Drizzle dressing over the top and garnish with shallots.

Variation: Try replacing the chicken with fresh green prawns and replace the mint with fresh coriander.

Hope you are all having a great night!

Yes! THANK YOU Heavenlylamb!! I have gotten really excited about garlic the last two days (and I have had an increase in hunger - ) I know that is the reason that onion is limited - there is something in it that causes hunger also. I just hadn't made the connection to garlic. I guesss it's back to curry for me!!

Also - thanks for mentioning the fact that there needded to be no caffeine in the sodas - that isn't mentioned in the internet manual.

Just a note of advice - remember to always read labels - even on your spices - some blends are hiding sugars, salts, or even msg. Even frozen veggies can have things added as well as your meats. AND ... just because something says it has 0 of sommething - check the serving quantity size - sometimes it's 0 in a very small quantity (they are allowed to round down) but will still have stuff in it in the amounts you typically would use. I've had one or two surprises once again - and have had to remember to be vigilant in checking ALL labels.

Last Day of unhealthy ME!!!

Hi Eveyone, thankyou for your encouraging posts. Well as the tittle say's today is the last day of the unhealthy ME, I'm starting my program tomorrow and I CAN'T WAIT. I'm actually looking forward to the detox and getting all the crap (pardon the pun) out of my system and am really looking forward to being healthier and being smaller will be the extra bonus. A few quick questions:

(Stupid question first) this morning when I took my meat from the freezer that I had already weighed and packeaged I reweighed it and it was 5 grams less that what it was when I first froze it.... Do I leave it as it is or do I have to add to it to make the 105 grams....HELP!!!! Also

Does anyone else have Gall stones (and if you do) have you had any pain episodes whilst on the program...and is there anything that you can do to eliviate the pain other than medication.

Have a wonderful Sunday :)

Losing the plot!

Hey Everyone,

First of all id like to say a HUGE thankyou for everyone that replied to my earlier post. Although im an idiot and still havent been following cohen's to a "T".

I am great during the week, no deviations to name. Although the weekends im finding just horrible, im actually not looking forward to weekends anymore as i seem to not be able to control myself and i tend to mix in foreign foods with my meals.

I know what i have to do, and i know how to get to my goal but for some reason i have this little devil on my shoulder on the weekends saying "come on, it wont hurt!".. for god's sake how do i get rid of this little bugger!!!!

Im starting to become very down in the dumps due to this and its not good. Self Sabotage is exactly what this is..

Starting tomorrow im back on the "Cohen's Wagon"..I know that this program works and im hoping that no weight has been put on by my deviations this weekend. Im so unhappy with myself, honestly i really thought i was stronger then i seem to be. And i know i can do this, that is the problem! Why arent i doing it????

Nothing in my life is bad at the moment, im moving into my first place with my partner of 5 years in 3 weeks time and i suppose that is keeping my mind occupied more then cohens is.. ive just gotta settle down, remember what im doing and who im doing this for (me) and just bloody well do it!!!! :(

Sorry to babble on again, i need to focus 100%.. forget about weekends they are only 2 days outta the week that screw me up, so if i eliminate them ill be fine :)

Thankyou everyone for being strong, keep being strong and you'll be helping those in need of it, believe me. You guys are the reason im still on this program.

Take Care, Enjoy your weekend. ~Bam-a-naughty-lam~ xx
