Cryss 4kg this month gone forever and it was still hard work and no Haighs chocolates to lose that so be proud of that.
Perthmum glad to see you are not indulging for the sake of us THANX but tomorrow starts day 1 for you and we will be here to answer and support you through your journey.
Mel where are you? Rajah would love to meet you and for you to join our cohens get togethers, about the scales i use Tanita they measure in kg,stone and pounds but they give the point reading that you are after I got them in Target for $80 I think.
Healthymum "Kim" im getting the prawns ready for our Monday meet should be good. Ive just started using the garlic powder and im not sure if this is slowing the weightloss a bit as yesterday was only a 100g loss, its only pure garlic isnt it? I think i should stick to the ever faithfull curry powder!
Well Miss 2 is awake so better go,its 8.50am and we have a big day of shopping ahead of us today. Have a great day everyone, talk soon Chez;)

Hey Imr "Lisa" we just posted at the same time. How many weeks from wo to go for you doing cohens? Losing the weight is so achievable we just have to remember that when we want to pop something bad in our gob. See ya

Hi Everyone,
well start of week 8 for me today.
Weight - no surprises there - still 64 kg.

LMR - How very wonderful. You have had an amazing journey and really are an inspiration. Congratulations!!!!!!!!!

JOYSEY - Thanks for the tea hint - will try and locate some today.

If anyone is like me and finds curry powder too bland - I use a brand of curry powder available from chinese shops. Its called Serbuk Kari Daging Meat Curry Powder. It is a mixed blend of chilli, coriander, cumin, fennel, cinnamon, turmeric, gram dhall, curry leaves, & black pepper.
It is magnificent with meat or chicken and blends really nice with any type of vegetable. Its only about $2.00 for a 250gm packet.

Well I'm off shopping ladies. My teenagers have money and want me to take them to the surf shop outlets. (why is it even when they have money , we still end up broke?).

Myshy

p.s is there someone that can help me out with resizing some photos to post?

Hello,
Joysey - I got the tea thanks. I went for the smaller box which is a 'strong' blend, but I thought this would be the safer option if I didn't like it and the money gets wasted.

Perthmum - How did day 1 go?

I had some nice comments today. I saw my juice delivery guy today (havent seen him since I started the diet) and he was very complimentary.
Then - I was at the supermarket with my daughter and the very cute guy behind me starting winking and smiling. I nearly dropped my eggs. My daughter laughed about it all the way home because I kept saying 'was he flirting with me?'. She kept saying 'yes mum - you're hot!'. That made me laugh - but it is a nice feeling to have some reinforcement in whatever shape it comes!!

Hope everyone has had a good day.

Myshy :)

Hello everyone,

I am a 25yo and have recently found out about the Cohen's diet and am thinking of giving it a go - have tried everything else! I am interested in finding out more about it though. Can someone give me an example of a daily meal plan? I have tried some very restrictive diets before (meal replacement) and have not been able to stick at it for long due to lack in variety, so am wondering if this might be a little better.

Also, if the weight loss is a bit quicker than standard diet I might have a better chance as I have about 50kg to loose. Has anyone experienced any adverse side-affects from the rapid losses? Such as hair loss, etc? I have PCOS and have very thin hair coverage now due to it so one of my biggest fears is a major shed caused by rapid weight loss which is apparently a common problem - tough choice between bald and overweight!

If I do start this then I think I will wait until New Year - I think I have to be realistic, and I am never going to get into a good routine from the offset if I started so close to Christmas!

Any advice, comments, example meal plans would be much appreciated.

Thanks, Trish.

Hi everyone,

Hope you have all had a good day. :)

Perthmum: All the best with the start of this plan. As you can see there are great results and we are all here together to achieve our goals. Good luck.

Myshy: you better start getting used to the flirting looks and woolfwhistles. Why be surprised, you look so gorgeous in your photo - I say keep them coming!!!

Kaseysmum: It would be great to meet up with you all. When is the next meet? Thanks about info about the scales, I have to look into buying a new set.

lmr (Lisa): it's so good to see you achieve your goals. 31kg is amazing. Can you still be in touch with your clinic or does your contract run out by a certain date?

I have had a very busy day at work and have forgotten to drink my water. Yes, it's on my desk but I don't think of it. Need to be more conscious of it.

Everyone have a good day tomorrow. :D

Typical day in my Cohen life

Hi Trish,

before I break down my day I think you should know. for me this is the only diet that has EVER worked, for two reasons, it makes medical/scientific sense AND I can stick to it! if you are ready to change and are willing to make sacrqafices to do it this is the plan for you, I'm sure I speak for everyone when I tell you that we will all be here to support and be there for you.

Ok a day in the life ...

Brekkie
1 egg whisked as an omlete with onion and mushrooms
glass water with Vitamins
cup black coffee

Snack
apple
water

Lunch
small serve Chicken and selected veg
I try and make something hot as it seems to fell me up more than salad.
I also like to make it spicy to add flavour, generally a stirfry with steamed spinach

Snack

couple of Vita Wheats OR Orange
more water maybe coffee

Dinner

small Steak and Salad, with onions in mustard

water, water, water (now I've not been too good with the water, the others are EXCELLENT at it!)

thats a typical day in the life

hang in there, how much do you have to lose?

I ate fish

I was out shopping for some Kris Kringle stuff straight from work ... walking around the damn food court going, no, no,no, errr no, hmmm no, yummm NO and then I saw it, Sashimi, I ate about 200gms raw fish no veg (all they had was carrot) you think I'm going to have anything bad happen?

Rajah I have Soehmle scales, they are great, I got them from a kitchenware place, they don't auto turn off for a few mins, so you don't have to rush around to weigh stuff. I love them, I got then to replace the older 2grm ones from Homemaker. they were about $30 (half price) if you want me to pick some up I can mail em to you?

Perthmum how did you go? it's not that hard is it? just need to stick to it, we will be here to help, always!

Goodmorning everyone, im 4.5kg til xmas goal and only 16 days to go I hope I make it. Cryss naughty you oh well atleast it wasnt something worse like chocolate! Its hard when you go shopping and all the aromas are wafting around the shopping centre, the worst is walking past the bickie place making fresh biscuits. What bathroom scales does everyone weigh themselves on, the ones I mentioned to Raja where Tanita and the ones i weigh my food on are salter they cost me about $70. Im up early off to the dentist later yeeha I need a couple of fillings. Am just about to make omlette talk later Chez

Hi everyone.

Welcome Trish. I highly recommend Cohens, but it is extremely strict and there is no room for breaking it. It's the only diet that has worked for me, but I'm someone who needs a strict diet. If there's room for flexibility, I take full advantage of it and then end up failing! A normal day for me is yoghurt for breakfast, cheese or chicken with salad for lunch and chicken or fish with vegetables for dinner. I can also have 5 Paradise Lites crispbreads throughout the day and 2 pieces of fruit. 2 weeks before I started, I eliminated alcohol, milk, bread, pasta, rice, pumpkin and potato from my diet so that it wouldn't be such a shock to the system. I haven't experienced any adverse affects from the diet, except for changes in my cycle. I've got an Implanon and haven't had a period for 3 years, but I have experienced some spotting and had a couple of periods.

Cryss, my understanding is that if you deviate, it throws your HGH out for one week, but I don't think it will affect your weight loss. If you had something really bad, like carbs or chocolate etc, then you probably would see it on the scales!

Kaseysmum, I started on the 11th July and was on it for 17 weeks before I started the refeed. I started at 92kg and my weight this morning is 60.8kg. I would've liked to have been in the 50s, but I really wanted to be off Cohens before xmas because I knew if I broke it over xmas, I probably wouldn't get back on track. I'm hoping to lose the last few kilos on my own, but if I can't shake them, I can go back onto my program at any time.

I tried to download a before and after photo, but it said the files are too big. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

Today is my first day "Cohens free" but I don't think I'll eat any differently - I'm too scared!!!

Have a great day. Lisa :D

resizing pics

if anyone needs them resized to upload on to the forum, please sen them to cryss1@bigpond.com and I'll do them as soon as I get home.

congratulations on everyones progress to date.

I'm just wondering, how do you know your HGH is 'thrown out', how do they measure it?

Hi Cryss

I've emailed a couple of photos to you. Thanks for doing that for me.

With the HGH, I'm not sure how they measure it, but I think it's through the bloodtests. It's all a bit over my head, but my consultant said the less deviation there is whilst on the diet, the easier the refeed is. But as the program is a "lifestyle", sometimes deviations can't be avoided and you just have to ensure that at least 2 weeks prior to starting the refeed, you stick strictly to it.

Lisa

Perth mum thinking of you today, its been a week for me today and so far so good feeling full of energy, a little worried about tommorow night doing night shift, i dont usually eat over night when at work but not sure when to have brekky as i have to wait 2 hrs before i sleep, dont i ? or have i read that wrong ? ????-CASEY
Was very good today, said no thanks to a chocolate :) YAY YAY YAY - Casey

Hi Casey good going for your first week, I bet you cant wait to see what you lose in the first weigh in. I would email your clinic and ask what they think about your eating plan while on nightshift, what hours will you be working?
Perthmum hows it going? It can be tough going for a little while but you adjust and it becomes easier, I find it easier if ive got lots of like chinese containers with different vegies chopped up ready to go and pre weigh your meat in freezer bags with the quantity written on the bag and have a spare tin of tuna in your cupboard just in case you run out of your meat. Went to the dentist and survived it but my wallet didnt $200 later oh well I need my teeth ha ha but sometimes I think what if I didnt have any teeth than I couldnt eat minties and fantales and other lollies oh what am I thinking I dont like them anymore. I must be going crazy my Mums been here all day god love her, shes come to mind Kasey while I was out and about and I think it might be time to take her home shes talking my ears off while I type this so if it doesnt sound right you know why. Ok guys gotta run,let me know how you go Casey. See yas;)

Hi everyone. I have just returned from our 2 week holiday on the Gold Coast, and I can't believe how many posts there have been!! I need a full day to read through them all.
Just thought I'd let you all know how I have gone my 1st few weeks of "life After". Just Great. Life after is everything they have promised you, so stick with it girls, you won't regret it !!!!
I have eaten almost anything I wanted while away, although my stomach has definately shrunk and I can't eat the same quantities, and I have maintained my weight the whole time while away. When I say I've eaten anything I want, I mean ANYTHING!! Tim Tams, hot chips, ice cream etc, and I haven't had any cravings either. I can eat one tim tam and fell totally satisfied.
It was so good to walk around Wet N Wild in swimmers and not feel out of place, not feel like anyone was laughing at me.
I am now so totally confident that my life has changed, and I will be staying like this for the rest of my life.
Better go and do my washing, YUK. Just thought I'd let you know what you have to look forward to. Keep up the good work girls, life only gets better!!!

Hi Everyone,
JOYSEY - I have threee words for you. OH MY GOD I had a cup of the tea last before bed, woke up this morning with a bad tummy ache. Well....... let's just say It was an experience I'll not soon forget. Sorry if thats too much info girls, but the tea really works. Thanks Joysey! :)

RJM - I am so pleased that you are enjoying life 'after' cohens. I bet you had the most amazing holiday.

CASEY - You read right. It is 2 hours before you go to sleep if you are a night shift worker.

Typical day diet for me:-

Breakfast:-
1 egg & 70gms vegies. I alternate between an omelette, poached egg and fried egg. The vegies are usually tomato, brocolli, green capsicum, Maybe spring onion.

Lunch:-
115gm vegies & 65gm cheese. I alternate between steaming brocolli, capsicum, cauliflower, tomato, squash, zuchinni & grilling my cheese over the top
or
115gm salad & 65gm cheese.

Dinner:-
I basically only eat chicken with this meal as my meat option is too large for me.
105gm chicken & 95 gm vegies.
I alternate between crumbed chicken, chicken & cauliflower soup or grilled chicken and salad.
I also can have 5 paradise lite crackers and 2 pieces of fruit - but now very rarely eat either.
If I am having crumbed chicken I use 1 1/2 crackers for the topping.
If I do eat fruit, I stick to kiwi fruit and mango and never eat them in the evening.
I drink 3 litres a day of water as a minimum and have gone as high as 5.5 litres. It depends on the day. I find as the diet has gone on, I feel dehydrated if I dont drink at least 3litres - yet when I first began I spent half my day on the loo. I think your body adjusts.

I love my coffee black now and always drank black tea anyway.I never use sweetners in anything.
If I have had my 3 litres of water I use my caffiene free diet coke as a reward - although I am finding that it is too sweet for me now as well and I am averaging 1 can every 2-3 days.
Before the diet I was a major chocolate addict. I am taking centrum and havent really craved at all. When I have craved, it has been through stress, not as a 'real' want.
I sleep better, concentrate better and my eyes are sparkling. I have always had good skin, but I notice now that it isnt as dry. My legs used to drive me crazy at night. That has now stopped.
The minor downside is that I am spotting between cycles, but I am putting this down to my hormones regulating and it isnt really an issue. More annoying.

I am off to a work function tonight. 3 course meal. Not sure how I will play it yet, but we will see. I havent seen these girls since I started the diet (8 weeks), so it will be interesting to see if anyone notices a change.

Hope everyone is well. Another week down girls!!!!!

Myshy

Hi everyone.

rjm, so great to hear from you. Sounds like you had a fantastic holiday!

Casey, well done on getting through your first week.

Cryss, thanks for fixing the photos for me. Hopefully they have attached to my post ok. The "before" one was taken a year ago, so I was probably bigger when I started Cohens, but I didn't have any more recent photos (except for the one I took the day before I started, but I'm in my underwear). I tried to avoid the camera whenever I could! The "after" one was taken on Monday with our puppy Bella.

Have a great weekend. Lisa :D

Hello
I am so glad I have found this forum. I am about to start on the Cohen's program. I am so happy to read such positive responses to the program as i was very sceptical as to whetr it will work. I have a lot of weight to lose whic has been accumulating for several years and now feels the right time to get rid of it.
