Hi everyone. So many posts within a couple of days - it's fantastic!

I'm on holidays this week, breaking in our new puppy Bella, whom we brought home yesterday. She is a 11 week old Border Collie and she is gorgeous (and a little naughty!).

I'm on the home stretch of my refeed. Providing I don't put on over a kilo in the next few days, Thursday will be my last day. I put on 600gm this morning, but that may have been because I was little naughty and had 2 glasses of wine yesterday to celebrate the new arrival. The day before I lost a kilo overnight. It's very up and down.

I'm supposed to be reintroducing the carbs, but so far I've just had some pasta and I couldn't eat it all. 50gm cooked is not very much at all, but I ended up leaving about half of it. Tonight I might try some peas with dinner and see how that goes. I'm not eating anywhere as near as the amounts call for on the refeed - it's just far too much food.

Welcome Perthmum. As Healthymum said, it's a really good idea if you try to cut out your carbs and milk and start increasing your water intake before you start the diet. I did it for 2 weeks before starting and I lost 4.5kg and I didn't suffer headaches or hunger once I started the diet, which some people do.

Missysmum, that's great that you feel so motivated. Sounds like you will hit your goal of 30kg for xmas. How exciting! I'm a cancerian.

Myshy, I hadn't thought anything of it until you mentioned it, but yes, I have been bruising for no apparent reason. I do bruise easily at the best of times, but I usually know what I did to myself. But I've just had bruises appear.

Cryss, thank you so much for your entertaining posts. With the water, I try and drink at least 2 litres before lunch and then anything thereafter is a bonus. I don't know why, but I find it easier to drink before lunch than after.

Anyway, had better go to tend to Bella - she wants to go outside and play!

HI Everyone, glad to hear your all doing so well.
Thanks very very very much for the photos cryss and mel you both look fantastic its an insperation. There are so many post's since the other day that i have just read them all and almost finished 1.5L of water (YAY) :) I find that if i carry my water with me every where I go I drink it, room temp is best.
Its day 4 for me and have not fallen off the rails yet, i have sore joints and a sore back, mum thinks i look a little flatter, but it has only been 4 days either way the encouragment helps.
Keep up the good work everyone - CASEY

Hi everyone,
PERTHMUM: welcome, and congratulations on making the decision, as I was told when I was just thinking about it, it would be the best money I ever spent, guess what the girls were right, good on you for doing something for yourself. Today is day 63 for me, haven't broken once and have now lost 19.9kgs (i'm a scale hopper and jump on every morning) so tomorrow I will have lost 20kgs for sure, feel like I'm 18 again (I am 42) Just wait, you will be so happy you did it.

CRYSS: With the water, get one of those 750ml pump bottles if you haven't already got one of them. I have 8 and fill them up every morning and know once I get past 4 which is 3 litres, then the rest is a bonus. When you have it just don't put it down until you have finished the whole bottle. Take the lid off though or else it just takes toooooo long. Try it I am sure it will work for you....

HEALTHYMUM: I know that Carolyn is going away from Tuesday to Sunday so hopefully you will get in touch with her before she leaves.

MYSHY: Re bruising, yes I do as well especially on my legs. I have also had a bit of spotting which has never ever happened, which means my hormones are playing up a bit. Who's to say though, but it is just a little strange for me because it has never happened before, usually as regular as clockwork.

MISSY-MUM: GOOD ON YOU, YOU CAN DO IT.:D

Well take care every one and don’t forget to drink your water. I think of it as flushing the fat way….Best wishes, JOY

Here is my before picture.

Hi Everyone,
To those of you that have messenger, I have added you to my list and hope you will do the same. I am up for a chat anytime! (I may even let you get a word in sometime!)

I keep logging on just to look at your photos girls. They are fantastic. I found some pics of me, but I am having trouble resizing them to fit.

LMR - I was wondering now that you have almost finished refeed - are you going to stick to any strick rules concerning food? i.e...no lollies, cake, take away, alcohol, bread? Given that this is really a lifestyle change, I know I am going to have to make some adjustments that are not just for 'short term'. I'd be interested in knowing what plans anyone has for 'after'.
LMR - Can you have baked beans on the refeed?.........no jokes girls - I've heard them all!!!!!! :)

Now that my exam results are in, I have given up my 2 licorice bullets in the evening.

I am still missing vegemite and would love some beetroot in my salads.

Thank you so much for the lovely welcome wishes!! I have taken on board all the hints about the water etc - I find it most easy to drink the water at work,as I keep a bottle on my desk. Now I will start to keep a bottle beside me at home as well. I have already cut out my daily cappucino - the girls at the coffee shop now give me funny looks, as I walk briskly by! The building I work in has a coffee shop at the bottom, by the entry doors..I hadn't realised how much of a habit I had fallen into, I used to kid myself and say I didn't do it that often, now I know I did it every day!!! I have substituted a cup of herbal tea - made by Moi!!
I have decided to keep a jar in my drawer at work and put my coffee money in it every day, in the hope that I will have some money there to buy new clothes when I need them! By the time I add the afternoon chocolate money in, it should be worth something in a few months, what do you reckon!!
Can't wait to start the program - you are all the most awesome role models!

Saving Money while you lose weight

Perth Mum,

great to see your picture up.

I love putting a face to a name!

I know what you mean about the morning habit, everyday for 2 yrs I ordered latte and vegimite toast on rye. I am now a large long black and have never looked back! I told the cafe at the bottom of our building that they wouldn't be seeing much of me moving forward because of my diet, they were so good about it, the own now insists that I bring my lunch down, they heat it up, put it in a bowl for me and I can now still have lunch with my girlfriend. Pretty cool huh? They also always have a boiled egg on hand if I have rushed out withou brekkie.

I used to spend minimum of $20 per day on breakfast and lunch at the cafe! I can't remember the last time I went to the ATM, and I used to go every second day. My money is staying put, we also don't waste money on crap food and bargains, you buy things cheap, frezze them or store them in your cupboard, 12 months later, you throw them out, was really bad at buying bread like that from the supermarket, savory rolls etc.

well I think we will all have saved alot of $ by the time we are at are goal, I've asked the boyfriend for a pair of Diamond stud earrings, and I'm looking for a carat in each ear!

Bring it on...

I would like to send out a special hello to Mel who has been ultra supportive of me over the last week. Poor thing has heard all my work and diet trouble, and she still meets me in the chat room!! what a winner! Thanks Mel:p

HI EVERYONE,
Just wanted to tell you all. It is now 5.30am and I am always up at that time or earlier. I jumped on the scales as I do every single morning and now I am sitting her having a silent tear fall from my eyes.
I WEIGHTED IN AT 69.9KGS
this morning I am just overwelmed with JOY, if you'll excuse the expression. Just wait every one until you reach your mini target, mine was to get into the 60's before Christmas and I've done it. I can't stop crying, I am so excited, I am glad no one is here to see me, I must look like an idiot. Had to tell someone, ran in and woke up my husband to tell him and you know what he said, "I WAS ASLEEP". Big blooooood deal, I thought this was much more important.
Thanks for listening to me but I just wanted to share my excitement and tell someone who knows how I feel.
Your all the best, god, I'm still teary, I can't tell you how excited I am feeling what a sence of achievement, now I have under 10kgs to go. JOY

Im 90.2kg today so hopefully will crack into the 80's tomorrow I will be so happy when Im on the home stretch too. I tried to download that Mirc but it wouldnt let me maybe cos ive got dial up?? I would love to chat to everyone tho. I painted my toenails today havent done that in a while I think losing the weight has chirped up my spirit and im starting to get back to the old me,before I wouldnt leave the house unless I made a effort to look nice but when I put on the weight I didnt care,so losing the weight improves self esteem for sure. I better go ive got a very defiant 2 yr old who refuses to have a sleep today YEEHA for me. CONGRATS to Joysey she's got to be our slimmer of the week, maybe thats something we could start tally up our weightloss through the week and see who has the biggest loss??? Ok talk soon, Chez:cool:

Inspiration needed please!

Hi there, my name is Bonita, i have been doing the cohens lifestyle program for 4 mths and have lost 20kgs. I have lost complete motivation, determination etc to keep going, I have 15 more to lose. I need some yummy receipe ideas, as I am eating the same food and would like to keep in contact with someone who has done this or doing this program. please help me!!!!!!!

Hi Bonita and welcome aboard, we are all here to support and encourage one another so you've come to the right place. Dont give up now you are on the home stretch I know how hard it can be I lost my determination with only 10kg to go this year cos it can do your head in at times and now Ive got 22kg to lose so just think very soon you will be off this and eating more food when you get the refeed and socialising more and struttin your stuff.
Have you tried adding flavour to your meals like curry powder garlic powder coarse black pepper?? Or using mango to pocket your chicken and bake in the oven thats nice or curried prawns are my favourite,or making pizza out of your crispbread with zuchinni, tomato and mozzarella cheese yummo you wouldnt feel deprived eating that its yummo.Just play around with your food and experiment a bit and it might change how you feel. The girls here are so lovely that you will probably find having all of us to chat to might be just what you need "a kick up the bum". So dont grab anything you are gonna regret just stick it out a little bit longer and you will be glad you did, losing 20kg is a great achievement so dont forget that stack 20 house bricks cos thats what its equivellant to. Ok STAY STRONG! talk soon Chez Ps have just finished my 4.5 litres so off to refill. Cyas:cool:

Hi everyone. Welcome reubon. You'll find this forum to be a huge help - everyone is lovely and the support is amazing.

Joysey, how exciting! Congratulations! And you've still got 3 weeks til xmas, so you'll be well and truly in the 60s and looking fabulous!!! Are you going to buy yourself something special to celebrate this achievement?

Myshy, I'm really nervous about coming off the refeed and starting "normal" life. In all honesty, I'm scared sh*tless! My intention is to continue to eat basically the same way I have during Cohens, ie. yoghurt for brekky, alternate between salads and sandwiches for lunch and meat and vegetables for dinner and to start very regular exercise. I'm hoping the combination will help me drop the last few kilos. My problem before I started Cohens was the quantity of food that I ate. I didn't really eat choc, lollies etc - just HUGE servings of carbs and lots of lattes and wine! I think I'll have one (small) latte a day and then any coffee thereafter will be long blacks and very limited wine. We used to also eat out at least twice a week, but that will now be a once weekly thing and I'll have to be very sensible with my ordering. I go back into Cohens on Saturday for my last appointment and I think they then provide me lifestyle maintenance. I'm not sure if I'll be allowed to have vegemite (I hope I am though)!

Sorry, but baked beans aren't on the refeed.

The foods that are reintroduced are:

Meat: any meat with no fat (no minced meat)
Poultry: any part of a chicken or turkey (skinless)
Fish: any fish or seafood (no processed fish such as fish fingers, nor smoked fish)
Milk: skim milk or soya (50ml replaces 40gm of "old protein")
New Vegetables: artichoke, eggplant, broccoli, carrots, leek, okra and watercress
"Good" Fruits: blackberries, gooseberries, lychee, rockmelon, mulberries, pineapples, plums and blueberries
"Bad" Fruits: banana, cherries, figs, passionfruit, pear, strawberries, watermelon
(The terms "good" and "bad" fruits relates to their affect on your body).
Carbs: barley, beans, butternut, corn, pasta, peas, snowpeas, potato, popcorn, pumpkin and rice
Alcohol: 1 glass of wine or 1 tot hard liquor replaces 1 slice of bread and 1 can light beer replaces 2 slices of bread.

Cryss, your ode to Joysey was classic. Thank you for making me laugh out loud everytime I read your posts!

Have a great night all. Lisa :D

Hi Girls

There've been so many posts in the last few days, its great. This will be just a quick post 'cos Im heading to the gym shortly.

Welcome PerthMum & Bonita! We're all here to help & support you - so don't be shy and post whatever your feeling/thinking - I'm sure the girls & myself will have some words of inspiration & encouragement to offer whenever needed. Bonita - where abouts are you from?

Josey - Your weight loss is awesome! You deserve a big *HUG* ! You're very inspiring to all of us, I cant wait till I only have under 10kg left to lose, it must be such an awesome feeling. - Im so jelous!! Your on the home run to the refeed

Cryss - You bring a smile to my face every time I read your posts - that poem for Josey was great. Oh & I'm gana try the pizza tomorrow for breakie.

Today the scales read 114kg for me, so Ive now lost 11kg & I'll have to yet again update the ticker in my signature. I bought new jeans & a top on the weekend (both size 18), and damn it felt good not to get a size 22...... ! Im looking fwd to shopping for clothes in 'normal' shops! I'm so addicted to hoping on the scales every morning, I think my fiance' (Michael) thinks im nutters!, but, its my motivation for the day, even if I see the slighest decrease in weight. Gradually my engagement ring along with a few other rings have slowly started to get lose on my fingers.., give it another week or two and I'm sure they will just slip right off! - I'll have to wear it on a necklace until I get close to my goal weight so I dont have to get it re-sized more than once. Also, my watch which was once tight-ish around my wrist is now lose as well! Has anyone else noticed these types of changes?

Michael is ordering pizza tonight & its "buy one, get one free night" - do our men have to tourment us like this!! hehehe

Had my 2nd blood test done on Saturday and I have bruised heaps bad :(

My star sign is Taurus - aka the stuborn bull !

And 1 more question before I wrap this up - Does anyone know anyone else on the Cohens program who has PCOS (PolyCystic Ovarian Syndrom)? Just curious, cos I have it & its the main reason for my weight gain as it results in me being Insulin Resistant & constant craving for carbs...

Over & out for now, shall be back on later this evening.

Hi Gals and welcome Perthmum and Bonita!

Its been a while since my last post- I'm having a bit of a busy time.
You all seem to be rocketing along! Congrats to Joysey & Mel on your latest losses!:D

Many pages ago someone asked if anyone else gets hungry at night. I do now... I always wake to go to the toilet but the last few nights as I've gone back to bed I've been aware that I am hungry. This is unusual for me...

My weightloss seems to have stalled:( though I should expect to be losing slower as I have a smaller amount to lose. It cheered me up to try on some clothes that I haven't worn in a while and see that they fit! At least I know SOMETHING's happening even if the scales aren't showing much.

I'm really missing chocolate:( I could kill for some Lindt wafer... I keep reminding myself that it's only a taste sensation, its only a taste sensation. And then I get stern telling myself that I didnt pay nearly $700 to throw it all away for one taste. So I'm staying strong- havent broken once. So far:p

For those of you losing posts- I lost a couple in the beginning too but now I tick 'Remember me" when I log in and it has stopped automatically logging me out. So no more lost posts!

I missed the last episode of Biggest Loser- can anyone tell me who won?

Nat:)

Hey Nat,

Matt won the Biggest Loser.
