Hi Gorgeous Gals and welcome to Barbara & Trish!

I dont look for a couple of days and so many posts! I've been so busy with wrapping up end of year with my job that most other things have tken a back seat. But I am on holidays now :) so I'll probably check in more often.

Casey and Perthmum- How are you both faring so far? Casey I saw that you turned down chocolate so I'm guessing you're going great guns!:)

Myshy- did you get lots of comments at the function? I bet their jaws all dropped to the ground! :D

Joysey- You asked me about my weight loss so far. According to Cohen's I have 12 -14kg to lose. (I am going for 12) It doesnt sound like much but its been a constant & uphill battle for the last few years and finally I got to the stage this year where dieting and exercise or not dieting and not exercising were not making a scrap of difference. Plus being quite the shortie the extra weight really shows. So hence the Cohen Journey. I started my diet on the 26th Nov and pretty much lost 3kg in the first few days. But then I kept going up and down by half a kg for a week. Frustrating!! I have cut out all but one of my crispbreads this week and finally yesterday I hit the 50's!!!! 59.5- and it wasnt a fluke -today I was sitting pretty at 59kg!! I hear everyone telling of their excellent and huge weightlosses each week but I guess I'm just going to have to be patient with a smaller weightloss week to week. I'm more encouraged to look at my weightloss in terms of fractions ie if I have lost 4kg so far that is one third of my weight to lose- which makes it sound so much better!

I'm also a madwoman with the ketostix- I check every morning. That way too I know that even if the scales arent showing any loss I know I'm in ketosis and therefore fat burning.

Tonight I have been at a Christmas Party with friends who incidentally are my foodie friends. So as you can imagine the food was extra special- it looked so yummy but none of it was Cohens. Not even the salads. Luckily one of the hosts has struggled with controlling her weight for many years and was very understanding and made in advance an allowed salad just for me to have with the turkey. I was offered dessert and declined and the best thing I noticed was no-one tried to push dessert or snacks or wine on me. No "Oh- go on. One wont hurt." Nothing. No one thought twice about it which was great, no pressure.
Which means that it has now officially been two weeks, no cheating! I'm all spurred on to keep going strong till Christmas. I have decided I will break for Christmas Day, but I suspect that now being used to smaller servings my indulgence should be just that. Indulgence rather than over indulgence.

Ok Gals- its late, time for bed, but I wanted you all to know I hadnt dropped out or forgotten you all! You are constantly my inspiration and my motivation to keep going strong. Where would I be without you all?
Nat:)

Oh yeh- someone has mentioned in the past that they miss Vegemite? In my job I do a lot of driving and this last week I found myself on the West Gate near the "Home of Vegemite". I hadnt noticed where I was- I had smelled it! I inhaled it for all its worth! mmmm..

Hello everyone! Great pics Lisa thanx for putting them up for us all to see, Ive asked Bec if she could post hers its so inspiring for us to see the before and afters. Myshy are you allowed brocoli? Its not in my plan I think I might know why your scales arent moving its the cheese they told me at the clinic try to eat the cheese every now and then for faster weightloss so maybe thats the reason if its the mozarella it has a salt in it it could be making you retain fluid?? Where's Mel, havent seen you post so wondered how your doing, and Healthymum Hi Kim whats happening? Today marks the 2 week mark for me back on plan and 2 weeks til xmas eve has everyone done their xmas shopping? Hey Cryss how are you going no more sushi I hope. Off to eat lunch im getting hungry. Bye Ps I hope we all make our xmas goal weights goodluck

Fantastic pic's lisa well done on your weight loss.

Myshy- if your eating brocilli it inhibbits the HGH from working.

welcome to the new lady's , you have come to the right place if you are in need for support and motivation.

The lady's here are all that and more, good luck with your weight loss.

well I have only 2 kg's to go until I hit my Christmas goal I will now change my goal to 117kg's just to keep me motivated.

HOW IS EVERYONES GOAL GOING?

please let us all know how close you are from it.

anyway talk to you again soon.

Hi Everyone,
Girls - what would I do without you? I am such an idiot. Of course I am not allowed brocolli. I rarely ever look at my booklet and now is the second time I have been caught out. I have had brocolli with just about every one of my meals from day 1.
I took my shopping list with me once and bought the vegies on it, but continued buying the vegies the family can eat. Somewhere along the line I have just started including brocolli.
Because the diet is pretty much a secret, I don't have my lists or diet plan posted anywhere. What a way to learn a lesson.
No wonder my weight loss is so slow.

I am intrigued re: cheese. My consultant hasn't said anything about it and yet she knows I eat it every day. The reason I do this, is that my meal quantities are too big and I simply can't finish the meat options. I am not a fan of any type of seafood which leaves me with chicken. I don't think I could eat it twice a day. I may give it a go though - thanks for the tip.
My body is a fluid retainer.

As much as that is a lesson for me - it shows that sometimes the consultants are not really doing their job. I have never been asked what I actually eat. The suggestion to stick with the salad/vegie/cheese option only came up because I cant finish the meal if its a meat option. The brocolli mistake could have been picked up week 1, which could have well meant that I would be doing my refeed now.:(

I'll be bringing that up at my consultation on Thursday. There is no point having consultations if they are essentially useless.

Grrr.....................

Anyway on a lighter(!!) note...

I had a work function last night and had a few comments. Pretty much the comments were that I looked 'well'. However, sometimes what people don't say is as good as what they do.
My good friends of course commented and are delighted for me.I was this weight when I first started work there 3 years ago.
Like Cryss....I noticed that most of the girls looked fatter than what they used too! Even the office skinny girl (why is there one in every office?) didn't look quite so skinny. In fact. I thought I looked better.:D
It was a three course meal served with copius amounts of champagne, beer and wine.
First course was a caesar salad - I ate the lettuce.
Second course was chicken with brie, onion mash and asparagus. I ate a tiny piece of chicken, the asparagus but couldn't resist wiping it in the hollandaise sauce (but it wasn't much)
Dessert was chocolate mudcake - I ate one bite. with cream.
I took 2 sips of champagne, but stuck to water. All in all, I don't think I did too bad.

LMR - you look so much younger in your second photo. Congratulations, you look amazing.:D

Thanks again Moni & Kayseysmum. I don't know what I would do without this forum. I havent eaten brocolli for 2 days now - hopefully I will see some sort of extra loss next weigh in. I'll hang back on the cheese also.

Myshy(heading off to turf all the brocolli out of her fridge and read her diet book)

Hi Girls,

I havent posted for a few days 'cos I've been busy, Michaels unwell (he's got Labarynthitis - ie. viral infection in the ear causing major dizziness constantly) and I decided to get away this weekend and go to Mudgee (3.5hrs west of sydney) to visit my parents, they own an "accommodation retreat" up there, so its my place to escape when I need to!

I had my work X-mas party lunch on Friday with the 4 PA's that I work it - great restaurant, great food - um, not so great reactions from my friends when I refused the wine, cocktails, entree & dessert!! - The whole 4 hours we were there, I think I was tourmented with 'Oh C'mon, just have one little sip, just one glass, - just have a little bite of the cake" - blah blah blah even though they all knew about the program I am on and have been so supportive up until this day - I could seriously feel tears swelling up in my eyes, it was awful - reminded me of being in highschool and the peer pressure attack to have a smoke. Anyways Im glad its all over. At the end of the day, to shut them all up I had about half a frozen rasberry daiqueri (cocktail) and about small portion of a "flourless" chocolate cake, apart from that I enjoyed a lovely piece of barrumundi & salad. Coming home in the taxi I felt like shit, I could of vomited, I gather this was my body's reaction to the evil food/drink I had. Anyways when I got home I was so paranoid that I was going to pile on the kilo's the next morning and the following week that I skipped dinner and just went on a walking frenzy around my suburb for about 1.5hrs. Good news is, I woke up this morning and my weight remained at 113kg which is what it was the day before - I just hope it doesnt affect this weeks weight loss. My weight loss was good this week, bringing me to a total loss of 12kg in 5wks. I am hoping to smash through the 110kg by the end of next week - shall let you know how it goes.

Anyways, gotta wrap this up - My mum's on the program too, so thats all we've talked about today lol, were making good ole' prawns for dinner & Im friggin starving tonight so I gotta go & eat!!

ps - Welcome Trish & Barbara. Trish - I have PCOS too, so It would be great to chat sometime on msn (if you've got it).

*hugs to all*

Mel

Hi everyone,

I've just found this site through a google search after reading an article in today's which seems quite damning.

You're all a testament to the fact that there is some merit to the Cohen diet.

I am nearly 80kg and have almost given up on losing weight. However, my husband and son have been away for the past five weeks and I've just come out of 11 years of study and I've noticed that I've been a lot healthier in my diet. I've been living on mainly fish, tuna and apples. Though I'm not sure I've really lost that much weight.

I am leaving for the US on Thursday to reunite with them for Christmas and we will all be returning in early January. I hope to come back here then and look into the Cohen a diet a bit more. Till then, just to let you know - you all seem to be doing amazingly well! And very encouraging to others to give this diet a go.

Take Care,

Ros

Hi everyone. It's going to be a stinking hot day here in Adelaide today - 37 - thank goodness I can wear tanktops now!

I went to my clinic yesterday and picked up my guidelines for "life after Cohens". It was really strange, but when I left the clinic, I was very emotional. I think it just hit me that I had actually finished (even though I'm still a few kilos off my actual goal weight). I was in a very positive frame of mind when I started, but there was still a little bit of doubt in the back of my mind that I would not even come close to my goal. Yet here I am, 5 months later, a third of my former self. So girls, stay motivated and continue to strive for your goals because it is all worth it! :D

Barbara, welcome. If you do decide to start Cohens, you'll have plenty of support here.

Myshy, I had mozzarella cheese basically every day for lunch. At one point, I was worried that it was the reason my weight loss had slowed to 600gms a week for a few weeks, so I had a chicken instead or alternated between the two, but it made absolutely no difference. You might find just cutting the broccoli out will change things for you.

Mel, 12kgs in 5 weeks is amazing! Well done. That's horrible about your lunch though. It seems that no matter how much we explain how strict this diet is, people just don't understand and it is really hurtful to be put in that situation with your friends. You did very well though.

Divinemissnat, congratulations on hitting on the 50s! That was so nice that your friend catered for you. That's the kind of support we want from our friends - not pushing us to have things that we can't.

Moni, you are going to hit your xmas goal with no problems. How exciting for you!

Kaseysmum, sounds like you well and truly back on track. You'll be looking good at xmas.

Welcome Ros. This program definitely does work providing you commit yourself 100% as there is no room for deviation. Enjoy your trip and hopefully we'll see you here in the new year.

Have a great day. Lisa :)

Hi everyone,
Well, I picked up my plan on Friday and started on Saturday morning - well, actually made a Cohens meal on Friday night, but apprarently that doesnt count as not a full day...I had a good day yesterday and shopped for all the veges, fruit and seafood that are on the plan...I took my before photos and all my measurements, shocking though they were!! I will try to load my before photos on, then you will see what I mean when I say I look PREGNANT!!! I knew I carried most of my weight on my tum, but now it is dawning on me why men stood up and gave me their seats on the train!!! They must have thought I was pregnant!!! How bad is that!!! I have 31 kilos to lose...I know you are not meant to weigh yourself, but I did again this morning and was a kilo less than yesterday - despite the fact that I drank 3 litres of water! My 19 year old son got up early yesterday and filled the fridge with bottled water for me, enough for two days, wasn't that sweet!! So I had no excuse, just kept a bottle with me all day.
One thing I have noticed from the posts people make is that we all seem to be on the same plan??? I find that really strange as I would have assumed that we all have different plans, because of our blood tests...has anyone else noticed this? Also, it seems that the plan will not change even with having the periodic blood tests. I am not trying to knock this - you ladies are more than enough proof it is working, but just curious thats all...Sue, in Perth:)

Hi Sue, we eat the same food types but different quanities I might have an egg and 75g for meal one yours is probably different and then 110g fish with 100g veg and so on. Ive been eating prawns for my lunch and dinner meals for a change I got some cooked ones from Coles for $13.99 but so worth it. I think the life after cohens is never to eat carbs for brekky is the main rule and that bread can cause bloating and IBS and may not want to eat it again thats what it says in my refeed booklet. It is a warm day here in Canberra too finally summer is here. Sue are you country perth or city? Good on you for posting your pics you will dramatically see the difference as the weeks pass as its very noticable to see the weightloss too. Lisa thanks for your kind words and keeping us up to date on how everythings going for you. Hows Bella? I will talk soon hope everyone has had a great weekend. Ps Where are you Cryss?? Miss reading your posts. See ya Chez

Hope everyone has had an enjoyable weekend and enjoyed the sun that is about, i enjoyed it a little to much yesterday, Mind you for only about 10 - 15 minutes and have red raw shoulders thats how long it takes !
MYSHY - great will power, I think that you did very well at your work function, once the broccoli goes you will be fading away :)
MEL - you did what you could in the situation, well done. I can imagine what it would have been like. It seems some people just dont take no thanks for an answer when it comes to food.
IMR- CONGRATULATIONS :) :) i am so looking forward to wearing a tank top in public, Did you have to concentrate on your arms or does weight just fall off from everywhere?
I have my very first ever weigh in Tommorow at 1000hrs, i think that i have lost weight (HOPEFULLY) but cant estimate how much so the scales will tell me tommorow.
I find that I dont eat all my crispbread, i hope this does not effect my weight loss. I survived night shift, EXCEPT the hospital seems to be full of CHRISTMAS CAKE and PUDDING that everyone has made. It was tempting but diet caffine free coke got me through :)
Well done to all and keep up the good work and avoid the food pushing skinny ones from the it wont hurt, only a little bit , it christmas clan - CASEY

Hi Sue when doing your ticker scroll down to the bb code copy it and paste it in your signiture. Maybe Cryss could help you upload your photos she is the expert. Hope that helps Chez

New Commer to this Thread

Hi all,

I'm new to this thread, I use to do Dr Cohens at the beginning of the year and had a wonderful success, but got sick and came off it and sadily it was all down hill or should really say back up hill from there. Now that the weather is warming up and considering getting back into it as I know it works as long as your on it 100%. Thanks Chez for contacting me and advising about this forum as I was on The Lounge before it closed down. I'm checking out how to post at the moment so will write again soon :)

Pip

Hi Everone,
Well I had my dad's birthday party today and I had pretty much decided that if I was going to break at all over the christmas period - today would be the day.
There were gorgeous cheese platters, meat platters, pork (crackling!), chicken, chips, crackers etc. I managed to cope with the lunch ok. I just ate some chicken (not weighed, but probably smaller than usual serving), salad (as per cohens) and drank water. I did have 2 crackers with cheese and a small piece of crackling.
Dessert was my downfall. I had made fruit salad which I didn't eat but could not resist the mint chocolate mud cake with cream. I ate 1 whole slice (each 1/4 of the cake had been cut into 1/4's again)

I had bad stomach pains for the rest of the afternoon. I think my stomach was rebelling with the richness of the food. I am pleased that despite the mudcake, I managed ok..and its not every day your dad turns 80.

That being said....that was my 'break' and it is now time for strictness. I have no more chrissy functions and our chrissy lunch will be cohens.

Good luck to everyone who still has functions.

Cryss - sorry I haven't got around to sending you some pics. I took the camera out and the battery was flat. Typical!

KAYSEYSMUM - I got your email and have added you to my list. I look forward to chatting to you. I may even let you get a word in :D

Myshy:)

Fourth time lucky

Hi everyone,
How is everyone going? I hope you all had a good weekend and welcome to the new ladies.

I had my son's birthday yesterday and I am surrounded by cakes, chips and sweets. Needless to say I had a little taste of this and a little taste of that and I went off track. You are all so focussed and I want to be but I dont seem to be.

Mel: your work friends have been supportive until now. To push you that far, maybe they are jealous of your weightloss success and now are trying to sabotage you. Good on you for resisting their taunts.

lmr: your photos are inspirational. You say you lost one third of yourself. That's amazing put that way. Your hips look so slender. You look fantastic and Bella also looks cute. ;)

Casey: good luck with your weigh in tomorrow. Should be a nice surprise.

Moni: congratulations on achieving your Christmas goal and going beyond it. Your determination is getting positive results. I wish it would rub off onto me. :)

Myshy: you coped very well with your function. I also went to Christmas drinks. I had diet coke while everyone else had wine, beer, etc. I had a couple of Jatz crackers with cheese but did not have any turkish bread with dips. Someone asked me if it was willpower or did I not like dips. Seems an explanation is necessary if you don't eat.

Cryss: thanks for your offer re the scales. I didn't make myself very clear but I was asking about people scales not food scales. The scales I have are old and don't measure in 100 gram units. Need to buy some new ones. But thanks anyway, you are very kind.

Kaseysmum: have you heard from Healthymum Kim? When is the next meet?

Anyway, everyone have a good week and hope this works for the 4th time. Very frustrating!!! :D

;) Goodmorning all!!! Yay Pip glad you are joining us and welcome aboard. Hi Raja I heard from Kim yesterday and we are meeting on Wednesday if you'd like to join us at my place for lunch, if you cant make it then im free Saturday for a chat a coffee or diet coke feel free to email me ponchogirl70@hotmail.com and we can organise something. Myshy im a fast typist so i might beat you to it so whenever your up for a chat i am too. I bet that choc mudcake tasted great mmmm I dipped out on my pops 92 bday celebrations on the weekend cos i come from a maltese background and they love to eat and dont take no for an answer so I will go and visit him this week. I talked to Moni on messenger and it was great the new yahoo messenger is fantastic i was listening to 80's music while chatting it took me back to my teens, haha I think with the hot weather now its probably better to drink more water I dont think 3 litres is enough cos you sweat it out well I feel thirsty if i stop at 3 what about everyone else? Goodluck with your weighin today Casey dont forget to let us know your good news. I'll talk later Kaseys just found the lolly bag from her friends party yesterday and wants lollies at 9am ok see ya. Chez:rolleyes:
