Club 200 Plus

I have a question Anthony. What can I do if I've hit a plateau? I'm reving up my exercises and still watching what I eat. Hopefully in the next month or 2 (whenever the project is complete) I will start at gym at work. Any suggestions on what I should do, how often I should go?

Hi Jilly, there could be loads of reasons why you've plateau'd, i don't your weight loss plan so i can really use you as an example, but i can make some suggestions.

Firstly, look back to when you first started, is there anything you're doing differently now from when you started?

How often should i go?? Well its really about enjoying the excersises, start of slow and step it up, however if you excersise 3 times a week you'll see better and quicker results as if you only work out 1 per week. Its not how fast you do it thats important, its the fact that you are doing it.

Drink plenty of water.

If there are specific question you want to ask, feel free.

hope this helps a little

Anthony

I'm back from a week long vacation and that means back to eating healthy and mega working out. I have a goal to lose another 30 lbs before summer starts so that means I need to get going.

Does anyone else have problems finding motivation for going to the gym after they've had a bit of time off? I just want to be lazy but I know I need to get my butt in gear. How does everyone reward themselves with the progress they make?

Do you mind if I get in that boat? Last time I went to the gym was 2-3 weeks ago I think. I have been busy with school, but this week was my springbreak, but NO!, I could not go, because I was too lazy. So yeah it's not too good here.

Been away for a bit, but back now - still well above 200 :( but getting there, I hope! Fantastic, Kevi12, on being so close to leaving us all behind!!!

Know what you mean about flat streets being so good for walking, Natsky -- I'm in a flat city at the moment, and it's so good for walking -- and strength builds up almost without noticing -- last week I walked several miles on hills -- it was an effort, but I kept up with the group -- and no way could I have done that before I got on all the flat city walking! Good luck to you with the kick-into-gear plan!

Thank you noparsnips,
I totally agree! I hope to go hiking next Thursday up a very very very tiny mountain with my fiance.

Looking forward to the harder treck..

thanks for responding ...

What is the biggest obstacle?

Hi Guys, I recently posted this in another journal, and i'm very curious to see what the majority of you say.

What has been the biggest obstacle that you've had to overcome, or are struggling to overcome in your weight loss journey? :bigear:

It would be extremely beneficial (to me) to know through the eyes of the person what was/is difficult.

thanks for your time

bye for now :seeya:

Hi Anthony,

The biggest struggle for me in my weight loss has been to stay motivated. I have been working out and eating consciously and so far have lost 17 lbs in 3-4 weeks. Last week however I gained .5 lbs which isn’t a lot by any means but it’s discouraging when I gain instead of loose especially when I am working at it. So, now I have 2 big problems... losing the weight, and keeping myself focused on the goal even if I have a minor setback.

Question for you: I find different numbers for my target heart rate, I want to work in the fat burning zone... What should that number be for a 25/F/235lbs?

Thanks,

Holly

Hi Holly, thanks for your immediate reply, you will need to work out what your resting heart rate is, to do this you need two place 2 fingers on your pulse (usually the first 2) and count how many beats per minute.

I would say your fat burning zone is around the 120bpm mark - if you can give me your resting heart rate i can give you a more accurate reading.

Thanks again

Anthony

I have to say what I sometimes lack is motivation, as the other individual said. Regardless that I am hoping to become healthier and happier, and lets just be honest, be one hot babe... it can be daunting...

I have only just got back on my feet to begin the weight loss process once again. I am joining Curves on Friday. I have my appointment with them than and will be talking with a trainer, however you spell it. But since May I have become more depressed, which can make it hard to force myself to be on my way outside and the fact that when I moved to this new location I was called many names from passerbys, cars and pedestrians.

so thats about it. And its really flat here, no hills. Thats why Curves, but also there is the cost. Luckily they have shown me a way to wave the 199.00 dollar fee. I only have to buy a bag of groceries for the food pantry and pay 39.00 per mionth. Seems reasonable now..

Mine is eating white rice. :smilielol5:

Oh yeah guys, friday night, I weighed myself after eating dinner and I punched in at 200.5 lbs!!! I could not believe it, but I will keep doing what I'm doing. I haven't hit the gym for about 2-3 weeks now, so hopefully I can get back in track again this week and see where I go.

Not if you're planning on staying there more than five months, it's not.

It is worth it, because its only a ten minute walk, and I am there. If it costs more than planet fitness, big deal. Right now I am happy I found a place where I can find peeps to socialize with and be on the same track, to lose unwanted pounds and become healthier and happier. Its only women who are allowed into Curves, which makes it that more easier for me to head to Curves, which is a gym. And I will be more than happy to learn the ropes on Friday.

I am really looking forward to linking with some of the community. The sidewalks and streets are flat here, there is no hope for someone who trully wants to lose weight. I need my bike tires to be fixxed. They were popped last year on a ride from the grocery store, and I will be out bike riding once again to this year. Also there is a pool that is located near the school, its about five minutes away. I trully believe this is it. A start to somewhere awesome and new. And I am already feeling better, because my wedding dress fits better, I have lost a couple pounds already!

Thanks for all your replies guys, although only a few of you have replied, it's probably going to be a mixure of favourite foods and personal motivation.

But don't quit posting replies, at the end of this i will collate all the posts and make a list of all the obstacles that people have mentioned, then we can all see what the culprit is.

Ohh, mine is Chocolate - I love chocolate, i think i only train as hard as i do because i love it so much.

Burn more than you put in, and it becomes free ;)

thanks again guys

bye for now

No, no, I think I misunderstood the pricing of the thing. There's still the $39 a month if you pay the $200 fee, right? Because if there's not, that doesn't make any sense.

Hello peeps,
Well, there is no 200 dollar fee, if you buy a bag of groceries and give it to them to give to the food pantry for a charitable donation, get it now?

so I will just be paying 39 dollars a month, but unfortunately I have decided to do it the hard way. I am going to walk up the high view hill, and just keep trecking up a little farther each time I go. Just keep trecking.

I have found I am expanding my gut into an apron on my lower abdomen. Not good! I have bought weights and am using them and doing leg exercises that do involve the lower abdomen and man does it burn. Its burns bad. My past therpist had been shocked I did this one move, because its so hard. But I want to really lose this weight. I have come to realize, maybe it does not take too much of a price tag to lose weight and gain muscle, maybe I just need to be more inventive.

So here's a fun turn of events.. my scale has been wrong this WHOLE TIME. It was actually showing me 6 lbs lighter than I actually am.....:puke: So now I'm back up to a weight I thought I'd already passed... what a dissapointment.

I think I have hit my plateau already it's been a month and I've lost 8lbs which is making me feel well.... not very motivated.

Week 1 lost 6lbs
Week 2 1lb
Week 3 0lbs
Week 4 2lb

I'm following a weight watchers points plan and I'm very careful about what I eat and I don't go over my points. I think maybe I need to step up my exercise I do between 2 - 3 miles a day on the treadmill Monday - Friday and when I can I fit in a cardio workout dvd. I thought I would have lost more and I'm feeling a little deflated at the moment that I'm working hard for such little results.

just keep going it will work. I am the type of person that I have noticed since Sept 2008 tracking my weight that I go up and down and then I will drop a bunch then back to the up and down. That is the way I tend to loose weight so don,t fear if you have put weight back on. Just keep going you will be fine.

BTW just got home about a hour or so ago from Gallbladder surgery feel better then I thought I would just shoulder hurts .They tell me its from the anesthesia that settled in my shoulder plus the vicodin they gave me makes everything feel better too LOL

That's what I didn't understand. After five months, it's cheaper to just pay the $200.

I am loosing motivation big time. I haven't been to the gym in a week today... my portion sizes have gone to the wayside. It's been rainning for 4 days, ice everywhere. I have finals coming up.. excuses excuses.
I need some advice on how to get out of this downward spiral before I end up back where I started or worse!
