sigh. you guys ever feel like u're sabotaging urself?
i'm so close to my 50 pound mark... only 6 pounds away.
yet friday I gorged at a party. and then today again at a breakfast buffet.
I don't know what's wrong with me!
Well Initial C hang in there. Since you are almost there its probably another one of those gates that is trying to keep you from getting on to the other side.
Initial C, maybe you've just lost focus for a little while. Look at how much you've achieved already! Don't beat yourself up about the slip-ups, these things happen. Sit down, take a deep breath and focus on the positives and take it 1lb at a time.
C - I think sometimes when we've been going strong at this, we just step back and take a break - you lost 6 pounds last week, didn't you? That is a HUGE amount, and this week you're probably trying to find a balance. You'll get past this!
I put in another 8 kms this morning. I plan on walking 8 kms each day of camping (or so the theory goes) I'll post my weekly total come Friday when I get home.
Ran 4 miles today (6.4 KMS.) / 56:00 / 4:00 PM / 102 - 102 Degrees / Walked the last mile.
Sensitive Subject - Well when I run I have to put band aids on my nipples. If I don't they bleed. Today I forgot (the band aids) & they got so painful I had to walk the last mile. Am I the only one with this problem? Anyone have any ideas.
Troutman - I presume your bleeding because of the chafing of your top rubbing on your nipples combined with sweating. For cracked nipples rub any lanolin based ointment on to heal. The next step would be to minimise the chafing - try 100% cotton t shirts, as it is a breathable fabric. But really I think the best thing would be to tape some nursing pads over the nipples to stop the chafing in the first place. The ointment and nursing pads ( do you know what I mean by 'nursing pads', they are little round absorbent pads that you wear while breastfeeding to prevent leakage showing through clothes) can be purchased at any chemist ( pharmacy). Ask any nursing mother and they can tell you the pain of cracked bleeding nipples
M2M - Well, I know I didn't gain... But still, I've been going strong and then I mess up really bad. And I do this ALL the time. I think I self-sabotage myself alot.
Troutman - The nipple thing doesn't happen to me but I do chafe with the thighs (ie: chub rub). Try putting some baby powder or deodorant over ur nipples before you run? As for now, I agree with AC on the lanolin based ointment or some sorta healing cream to put it on in the meantime like polysporin. Hope it heals fast!
Ok, I walked 2 miles yesterday and 3 today (my first 3 mile walk so far! *yay*) and so 5 miles in total converted to just over 8 kms...so I'll just go with 8 kms.
Description:
When you have runner's nipple, you know it. Raw, painful, even bloody nipples are tough to miss, though sometimes you won't notice it until you get into the shower only to be treated to a decidedly unpleasant stinging sensation.
Likely causes:
Chafing with a wet shirt or running singlet. Particularly during long summer runs, the constant friction of a sweaty, salty shirt can quickly rub your nipples raw. Cotton is particularly villainous here, since it tends to hold water and become heavy.
Remedy:
Before especially long runs and on hot days, smear a little petroleum jelly on the nipples (or really anywhere there might be some chafing). Wear softer, looser clothes, and avoid screen-printed designs on your shirts and singlets. Especially avoid cotton and instead seek out lighter wicking fabrics like CoolMax.

I walked another 3 miles today and shaved 1 minute and 45 seconds off yesterday's time. I'm really thrilled. The harder and longer I walk, the less lower back and leg pains I have.
