Greetings from a newbie! Hoped to be here sooner ...
So I just finished week 2 on The Zone (sorta, nobody's perfect
) but after my first week of being perfect
I had gained! I had started as dead on 180, did not weigh for a week, then stripped down to get on scale (why should I weigh my undies?) and had gained a pound and a half. Joined up here and WHINED.
Got some great support (thanks everyone esp. Sue 24) and gave it another week. Was as good as I could be, my appetite and sugar cravings diminished, and started to feel good mentally -- I'm doing something good for me -- and physically -- few midafternoon crashes due to small frequent meals.
Was a little scared because we had family visiting for 3 days, 1 adult and two small boys with picky, junk food habits. I did not put anything harmful in the house. I gave the boys fruit snacks. I showed them a fresh vegetable without threatening them with having to eat it. Turns out they've never stripped a fresh ear of corn before, and they had great fun demonstrating that they could be tough cowboy farm hands. I could have put them to work on it all day. At dinner that night, the only one at home, they couldn't wait to taste their efforts. They got whole steamed ears, I only had a half, and they were so proud of their farm experience they ate several ears. Next visit -- chopping cabbage for cole slaw. They don't have to know it'd diet dressing.
Since I couldn't expect them to eat steamed veggies and broiled fish more than once, and they don't recognize a meal without french fries, we ate out at family coffee-shop type restaurants a lot. Guess what? I could make good food choices even from the horribly tempting menu, and it was fine. I filled up so fast, too, proof my tummy is shrinking in capacity.
Best of all, we went to the beach every day, and walking and playing with them was effortless exercize.
So, for the last two days I've weighed in at 178, then today 177, so I've made the jump here.
YAY!
Looking forward to your support and all your funny messages. I'm off right now for salmon, salad, and brocolli -- those boys don't know what they'r missing.
