Chris's diary

Is it just me or, has this site been significantly slower since the format changed and the security certificate introduced?

Anyway, 20 mins HIIT last night (which I really don't enjoy), skipped morning cardio today as my bed was too warm and comfy! Will go and do an hours cardio after work to compensate.

Yeah, I've noticed that it has been slow around here lately. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one getting the security certificate.

You are probably working out while I'm typing this post to make up for this morning.

Unlikely, I suspect we are more than a few hours apart, its more likely I was sleeping :)

Did 30 mins x-trainer and 30 mins stepper. Another 25 mins fasted this morning. Diet is going pretty well - I've never been one to count calories precisely but, my BF% is definitly dropping again. I think that cutting out the booze (apart from weekends, obviously!) has helped enormously.

No fasted cardio today :(

I was planning to leave work early and hit the gym later but, it doesn't look like thats going to happen now so, today could end up being a bit of an excercise washout!! :(

Got people coming to stay tomorrow so, will probably eat out and have a few drinks so, I was really keen to get down there today for the sake of my conscience this weekend! lol

Well, I sneaked out of work an hour early yesterday (shhh, don't tell the boss ;) ) so, I got my workout in with 30 mins cardio afterwards. The squat rack was occupied the entire time I was there so, didn't get to squat unfortunately. 30 mins cardio this morning too so, my conscience for the weekend is relatively clear! lol

Did chest & arms on Monday and I can still feel it a bit today - it was a good workout. I'm treating myself to a week without morning cardio this week and it is absolute bliss! Going to the gym tomorrow for some evening cardio (will try for 90 mins) and then legs, shoulders & back on Saturday.

Still enjoying the 2 day split as it gives me loads more free time. Progress is slower but, I always knew that would happen.

Missed my workout yesterday so, will have to workout this Thursday to make up for it. Forgot to take my creatine on my weekend away so, will need to start all over again.

Didn't manage fasted cardio this morning either - shame on me, back on track tomorrow.

Fresh Start

Moving swiftly on! I was not a healthy fella for the last few months of last year. I reverted back to some old ways and habits that I am not exactly proud of to say the least!! But, this year is the year - I'm determined to stick with it!

For those of you familiar with my diary, I have gone back to the 3 day split I was using towards the beginning of last year but, the weights have had to be reduced again. The 2 day split was no good as it gave me too much opportunity to slack off and I didn't have the momentum I needed to keep me going tot he gym every day!

I've not missed a session this year yet and I've been doing 30mins fasted cardio every day (except Sundays). I am absolutely amazed at how quick my body seems to be responding. Whilst I'm still far, far softer than I was in the summer, I can already see some definition and vascularity coming back that I wasn't expecting to see for a while yet. Very encouraging.

To begin with, I am relying on the mirror and not the scales to assess progress. This may change when I feel I need to set myself specific goals to work towards but, for the time being, sticking to the routing and seeing any progress at all is incentive enough.

After my cr@ppy diet of 2006, nutrition is proving to be the hardest element and also getting back into the swing of drinking so much water all the time. I'm getting there though and, I still cook a mean egg-white omelette :)

Anyways, good to be back. Happy New Year everyone and may we all reach our goals in 2007.

Thanks guys - nice to know my absence was noticed ;)

Did my usual 30 mins this morning. Its a psychological struggle at the moment cos, I start at about 6:45am when its still dark outside!!

Been having a hard time with the girlfriend (well, as of yesterday, ex-girlfriend) so, I'm really looking forward to taking out some of this aggression on my chest & triceps later on.....so every cloud does have a silver lining after all!

Good workout today. Bench press was way better than last week. The gym was pretty busy which is always one of the things I don't like but, I was patient, waited for the stations and got everything done. Did 30mins cardio afterwards and I'm feeling quite tired now.

Can't decide whether or not to have a rest day tomorrow as I've been excercising for about 8 days straight. I'll probably do my morning cardio and skip the gym. Don't want to overdo it...

Hi Sadie - thanks, its good to be back :)

Well, thats the fasted cardio out of the way. Today was the biggest struggle so far, the mental battle between staying in bed and getting up was a bloody, violent one but, excercise won though in the end! :p

No gym tonight but, I'm going to walk to the supermarket instead of drive (4 miles total) and probably do 30 mins HIIT at home tonight.

Will probably have to skip weights tomorrow as I'm having a blood test in the afternoon so, I'm likely to have a dead arm and I'm due to do back & biceps. Will have to leave them til Saturday I guess and just do an hours cardio instead.

Got soaked by torrential rain on my way back from the supermarket so, couldn't be @rsed to work out last night. Another 30mins fasted this morning (although, I almost fell asleep again after my shower!)

Had my blood test now and, my arm doesn't feel too bad so, I will probably do my weights after all :)

Back and bicep workout was pretty good, up to a point. I still have grip strength issues with my left hand. Was doing my final set of deadlifts (6 reps) and had to stop after 4 because my left hand couldn't keep hold of the bar - definitly something I need to work on...

Other than that, was pleased with the increase in strength since last week. 30 mins cardio afterwards and a nice egg white & chicken omelette with a bit of grated cheese on top as a treat :)

Tomorrow is my first cheat day of the year - whoo-hoo, steak and beer :D

30mins fasted cardio as usual today. I had planned on doing maybe 45mins or an hour as I start work late on Saturdays but, my bed was just too warm and comfy!

I took a BF% reading this morning and I am absolutely disgusted with myself - 15.4% :(

Still, it gives me a number and a goal. I hope to get it down quickly. Would like to hit 12% by this time next month but, I'm not sure how realistic that is. 12.5% maybe.

Just goes to show how easy it is to put it back on when you're enjoying yourself ;)

No fasted cardio today (well, it is Sunday) we all deserve a lie in at least once a week :)

Legs and shoulders at the gym. Squats were good, managed to increase the weights a bit. In fact, everything was good apart from leg curls but, seeing as I haven't done any for maybe 6 months, thats to be expected. 30mins bike afterwards and then a nice relaxing sauna. Gym was very quiet which made it even more enjoyable.

Cheat meal last night (steak & chips washed down with 4 bottles of beer :D) was lovely!!

Not a brilliant day today. 30 mins before breakfast but, cardio session at the gym wasn't too good - after about 45 mins, I just had nothing left in the tank! Pushed on for another 5 mins or so but, my body was definitly telling me not to carry on so, I was 10mins short of the hour :(

Ah well, tomorrow is another day, onwards and upwards :D

Oops, forgot to post yesterday! Did chest & triceps and, actually had a pretty good workout. My muscles don't really ache today which is strange as a few of the weights were increased. Bench presses are annoying me as I have nobody to spot me and so, I'm not confident about increasing the weights. I'm back on the creatine as of this weekend so, hopefully in a week or so I will be able to push through this self-imposed plateau.

Cardio yesterday was 30mins pre-breakfast and another 30mins post-workout. Might start doing a bit of swimming over the next couple of weeks too (assuming I can find the time!)

Did my cardio this morning too and, one of my customers commented today on how much weight I've lost since before xmas - always nice to hear :)

With regards nutrition, I have a feeling that I may need to add a few calories to my current diet. Its been a loooong time since I actually sat down and worked them all out.

I think I need to be aiming for somewhere around 2000 - 2200 ish for a healthy deficit. I think I'm currently taking in maybe 1800 or so (I'm guessing though tbh). If I get some time this week, I'll work out all my food and see where I'm at. Mind you, if the weight continues to drop and BF% keeps going down....if it ain't broke, why fix it ;)
