Chris's diary

Legs feel surprisingly good today after yesterdays session. Just did cardio today - about 50mins on the stepper. It was just waaay too hot to stay at the gym today.

Damn, my diary entries seem to be getting shorter and shorter! Must be cos training is going well atm :)

Good to see u back in Groove:),i was just wondering how is your foot ?,50 minutes on stepper means its ok now:p,is it?

Hey Chris - I can totally relate to the WAY TOO HOT to do ANYTHING!!! (As I'm sure most people on this site can)...it's been unbearable lately where I am. Glad your training is going well! Keep it up!

Theresa

Hi Sadie, the foot is much, much better now. I can still feel a slight tightness but, no pain at all. No idea what caused it but, seems to be pretty much gone :)

Hi Theresa - you probably have a hotter climate there than we do here in the UK but, yesterday was the hottest day since about 1911 apparently!! lol. I'm just not used to it - it makes me want to sit in the garden and drink beer!! (although, I somehow managed to abstain from the beer ;))

Legs are a little sore today, its always the second day when it hits me. Quads aren't too bad though so, I'll be upping the weights on squats next week. Chest and tris tonight - will be hitting the weights again tomorrow as I'm busy on Saturday...

I was extremely pleased with yesterdays workout - I have finally passed a long-standing plateau on bench press (mainly cos I don't use a spotter.) The last few weeks, I'd dropped the weight and concentrated on form and this seems to have got me through :D

Failed on 4th set of cable crossovers, was a little ambitious with the weight I think.

30mins stationery bike afterwards.

Thoroughly enjoyed myself. 30mins cardio before breakfast (as usual) and going back to the gym tonight for back and biceps as I'm going out for beers after work tomorrow :)

Was too hot to train yesterday and today doesn't look much better. Going to take the weekend off and get back into it on Monday...

What a weekend! Drank far too much on Saturday and made a complete fool of myself in front of people from the gym (who weren't as drunk as I was!) Very embarrassing I'm sure although, I don't remember all the details....a lesson learned I think! Had an evil hangover on Sunday and still felt pretty ropey on Monday too, not to mention the many bruises I can't account for!

Found out my step uncle has throat cancer :( This is only a number of months after my Grandad died of exactly the same thing. It doesn't sound as though the outlook is good at all. He has been a heavy smoker all his life so, on the strength of this news, my cigarettes went in the bin and I am hoping that this gives me the incentive and strength I need to knock it on the head for good....every cloud needs a silver lining after all.

As for training, I did some cardio this morning but, the heat made it very uncomfortable. I am planning to go to the gym tonight but, I'm expecting a few comments due to my drunken state on Saturday night so, not really looking forward to it..

All in all, a pretty crappy weekend

Just did 60mins cardio at the gym last night. Didn't bump into anyone who saw me on Saturday which was a bit of a relief!

Did the usual 30mins cardio before breakfast but, I must admit that I have been struggling with the current heat and having to make sure that I take on a huge amount of water to stay hydrated.

Really struggled at the gym yesterday. Didn't feel particulalrly strong and pretty much overheated! I looked like I'd had a shower before I actually had one if you catch my drift!

Skipped cardio and came home early as I developed a bit of a headache after weights. Hopefully will be back on track tomorrow.

30mins cardio b4 breakfast today (still very warm and uncomfortable)

Decided to take a rest day yesterday and had a lie in this morning so, no cardio. Hoping to get down the gym today but, there is a possibility that I may have to work late instead :(

Starting to get cranky through nicoteen withdrawal over the last day or so too!

i am sorry to hear about your uncle, but u did the right thing by throwing off your pack,i am trying to quit too..its hard but doable
be strong
u can do it:)

Thanks Sadie - I think I needed a kick up the a$$ with regards the cigarettes. Thats my first week out of the way so, hopefully I'm over the worst.

Managed to pull something in my shoulder unloading some flooring this morning. Doesn't feel serious, just uncomfortabel like a trapped nerve or something. I'm going to take the week off from the gym I think as I don't want to aggravate it or anything - I hate it when I can't go to the gym  I'll try to maintain my morning cardio though.

woohoo 7 days without smoking i am so proud of u
for me the count is down to 2:)

Chris are u taking your supplements like calcium ,iron and minerals?i noticed you are complaining alot about cramping and u had an injured foot last week too..i would call your dr and get a prescription for supplements.(or maybe u are just aging, haha j/k:D)

dont worry u will be ack at gym sooner rather than later:)
and enjoying sauna after workouts
best of luck

I don't think that supplements have anything to do with it - I knew exactly when I hurt my shoulder - I simply over-estimated how much timber I could lift, it was pretty instant.

Haven't been posting much as I haven't been going to the gym this week. It feels weird having so much time on my hands straight after work. I've only managed pre-breakfast cardio twice this week unfortunately but, will be back on track after the weekend. Shoulder feels pretty much okay now.

I'm going to stop keeping track of no. of days not smoked in my signature because I've lost track of the number of days already. Suffice to say, I'm not smoking unless I post otherwise...

Hmmm, been an awful long time since I updated this!!

To cut a long story short, I basically had an enthusiasm failure as far as fitness, excercise and diet were concerned. I have not been to the gym or done any real excercise for weeks and weeks! To be honest, I think that I was simply overdoing it and had to take a long break :(

Anyway, next week I'm going back to the gym and I'm going to sort out a new programme which will only require me to go down there 3 times a week at most. I'm also going to gradually try to re-introduce my morning cardio (not looking forward to that, I've grown rather accustomed to lie-ins recently! lol)

Obviously, there has been no progress whatsoever during this period. If anything, I have probably taken a step back as the diet kind of went out of the window too. I've not really been monitoring things or even caring particularly :p

Anyways, will hopefully be back on track with a vengeance next week but, will be making the effort not to overdo it again.

Thaks Sadie - I'm looking forward to getting back into it again. Quick update now on how fate seems to have decided to make it as difficult as possible to start training again

Had a gym session booked for 1pm last Monday. On Sunday morning, whilst removing a car hub-cap, I managed to gouge a chunk out of my right hand!! Not as bad as it probably sounds but, its pretty sore and is in exactly the spot which almost all weight excercises put pressure on....just my luck :(

Have re-booked my session for next Monday by which time it will hopefully have healed enough to lift.

In the meantime, I'm doing about 20 - 30mins cardio a day to ease me back into physical activity.

No need for the doctors, just a plaster and a little bit of time is all thats needed to sort it out. Went to the gym on Monday and sorted out a 2 day split routine. Hand was still a bit too sore to actually have a go at the routine so, starting next week instead. Cardio has been a little......well, infrequent lately to say the least!

Looking forward to getting back to it.

Happy 38th Birthday Chris,have a good one:)
