Chris's diary

I am NOT HAPPY!! I'm sitting typing this with my left arm as my right arm sits limp in a sling!!! I have no idea what I've done but, if it hadn't come on gradually, i would swear I had broken or dislocated my shoulder as its that kind of severe, restrictive pain.

I'm currently waiting for the dihydrocodeine to kick in. Tried cardio this morning but, the movement was just too painful.

No training for me for at least a few days (assuming its just muscular)

The good news is that my shoulder is pretty much back to normal. The bad news is that my glands are now up and I seem to have caught a bug of some sort so, still no training unfortunately.

I hate not being able to train, it puts me in a bad mood :(

Quick update to report no excercise whatsoever! lol

Still a bit under the weather although, feeling much, much better than before. I'm contemplating going to the gym for some gentle cardio after work but, not 100% decided yet.

Strange, when I don't excercise, I find I lack energy - vicious circle time!!

Finally!

I finally made it back to the gym yesterday - back and biceps. Whilst no particular progress has been made, I don't seem to have lost any strength. Considering I've not taken any creatine for a few days, I was quite surprised. Most importantly, my shoulder was absolutely fine so, it seems I left it long enough to recover. I may even head back down there after work today and hit the weights again.

Cardio yesterday wasn't so good as I attempted the treadmill and my shinsplints came back to haunt me after about 10 or 15 minutes :(

Did my fasted cardio this morning for the first time in a week so, the psychological battle has been won at last.

Legs and shoulders yesterday but, didn't finish my squats. My right knee for whatever reaon was feeling a little tender so, decided not to take the risk. Everything else was pretty much as expected. Also went for a swim afterwards, I'd forgotten what hard wok swimming can be!!

30 mins fasted cardio this morning too.

I chose not to do wieghts last night as my shoulder is still twinging a little bit. I did an hours cardio and then had a swim afterwards instead. Couldn't do any fasted cardio this morning as I had to take my car in to be repaired.

Not sure if I'm going to risk weights later or not. Last thing I want to do is damage my shoulder again but, I just find it infuriating when I can't train.

I am an idiot!

Well, I did go and do weights and, half way through my second set of bench presses, my shoulder was feeling pretty sore.

Did I do the sensible thing and switch to cardio instead? No, of course not, I ploughed on through every excercise apart from cable crossovers!

I had a sauna instead of swimming and, now that I'm home, the shoulder is beginning to feel uncomfortable again. Hopefully, it won't worsen overnight. I think I will have to leave the weights alone until next week and give it a proper chance to heal.

Phew!

Looks like I've been lucky today - shoulder isn't nearly as bad as I was expecting it to be so, I may even be training again by the weekend :)

Fasted cardio was a struggle today - 30 mins felt like a lot longer. Will only have time to squeeze in some HIIT later on then I'm going out for a meal so, I'm bound to go over on calories today.

30mins of HIIT last night (including warm up and cool down) but, a restaraunt meal to follow so, no doubt undid all my hard work! ;)

Morning cardio seems to be getting harder and harder for some reason. Not so much the excercise as the getting out of bed to actually do it!! Somehow though, I managed it in the end.

Heading down to the gym for 1 hr cardio and a swim later on.

As soon as my shoulder has recovered, I plan to switch around my weight programme too. The current one is getting a bit stale. I will leave in all the major excercises like deadlifts, squats & presses though.

Well, no diary entry for 2 weeks basically means no excercise for 2 weeks. I've got a few aches & pains (shoulder still plus a knee aswell now!!) which have stopped me going down for a while. I'm going today and will take things gently as I don't want to aggravate anything.

Trouble is, when I can't train, my diet and healthy living also go right out the window. What could have been a minor setback now feels like a huge step backwards :(

I managed to make it through a workout but, found that half the gym equipment was out of order! I couldn't do any seated rows and was told that it will be over a month before its sorted out. The steam room was also broken, the squat rack was out of action, the dumbells had loose plates etc etc etc. Today I'm going to see if I can find another gym as I'm sick of paying good money to a gym who seem to use the majority of their revenue on marketing!

Ok well, I've found a gym I can go and have a look at but, not until next week. I plan to do some leg training today so, hopefully my knee will hold up. Then I am away until Monday so, no training proper until then.

Feeling quite fit for the first time in weeks, no significant aches or pains anywhere so, looking forward to hitting the gym again with renewed vigour tomorrow.

Really enjoyed my workout yesterday. Chest & tris, didn't push it too hard but, definitely felt like I worked. Then did some gentle cardio and also had a swim.

Some days I seem to be on form and other days I don't.

Yesterday was one of those other days unfortunately. After half an hr on the cross trainer, I started on the stepper but, my blood sugar must have been low or something because I just ran out of gas, legs felt a bit wobbly and I had no energy. Gave up and went for a swim instead but, only managed 6 lengths! I'd had a shake and a banana 45mins before working out so, I was a little surprised.

Lets see what tonight's session brings...

Back and biceps yesterday - notable improvement on deadlifts. Finally lifting more than my bodyweight and my form seems to be pretty good now too. Rest of the workout wnet well. I've been slacking a little on cardio lately but, still managed 20mins on the bike and a swim afterwards.

Saturdays workout went well - upped my weights on squats and, the strength in my shoulders is also improving. I am currently creatine free but, I am maintaining the training levels I was at beforehand.

Having an enthusiasm crisis today :( I'm about 30mins from my gym session and, for some reason I really, really, really don't want to go!! Hopefully I will be able to drag myself down there (which, lets face it, is half the battle).
