Weight-Loss Biggest Loser Style (BLS) Challenge Week 1 Bonus

Weight-Loss
I agree. I'd only count the everyday things if my heart rate was definitely higher and I was out of breath at least some of the time.

Like raking heavy, rain-sodded leaves, for example. But not just picking up around the house. But then I tend not to run unless someone's on their way and I'm trying to avoid embarrassment.

I think it is a good time to explain more about my exercises. You will hopefully notice that my exersice is exactly the lenght to get me the full set of points. I don't want you to think I cheat or something, I just plan my exercises to be exactly enough and not even 1 min more because I don't like it much. So here is what I am doing:

30 min every day consisting of:

2 min - stretching exercies
30 sec - 20 squats
6 min 30 sec - running on a spot at home
10 min 30 sec - very brisk walking
10 min - weight exercises with 1 kg. weight (2.2 pounds)

30 sec - 20 sit ups

Total: 210 min a week

I must say I do another 1 hour of walking but it is just normal pace, doesn't raise my heart rate at all.

In addition to this I will do 3 times a week 30 min pilates which consist of this 3 bits:

LMAO!! Oh how I can relate to that one!! :smilielol5::smilielol5:

Cita--I'm still in the 220s, so I haven't hit a stage yet where I have trouble maintaining at a decent amount of calories. I do not intend to stop exercising once I reach my goal weight, as I realize how necessary it is to keep the pounds from creeping back on, and also to maintain overall health and fitness. But I won't be working out 5hrs a week to do it..lol. I think 3hrs should do the trick--and this isn't counting housework..lol.

So I'll repeat: Housework and job-related physical activities cannot count for more than 50% of your weekly exercise pts. I think this is fair. Like Blancita said, if that were enough exercise, you wouldn't be needing to lose weight in the first place. Although bad eating habits were probably also a factor.

Wulsk--Thanks!! I was just thinking this morning about how much I missed Pilates. It makes me feel taller than the 5' 1.5" that I am! (Teaching middle schoolers who use me as a measuring stick doesn't help, either...)

Also, when/if you stop working out for a while, take a few minutes every day to check how your body feels. I know the lack of soreness might be nice, but after a while I always feel like crap. Even if I'm eating a whole pig a day working out makes me feel better. (I'm not, btw. I don't like the way the tail tastes...)

I saw somewhere someone said they were not eating popcorn after dinner, that is ok right? I did not see it on the orignal post iwth all the 'no-no's of course the light 99% fat free not the movie theatre butter, its ok right?

DOES SEX COUNT FOR ATLEAST 3 MINUTES OF EXERCISING , YOU KNOW SOME OF THOSE POSITONS CAN BE ONE HELL OF A WORKOUT?:biggrinjester:

Well, popcorn is basically a snack with no nutritional value that I'm aware of. I have a box of the low fat stuff here, and I've been avoiding it b/c it seems like empty calories to me. I would have to say it's a no-no as it's along the same lines a potato chips. Sorry. :)

OMG LMAO!:smilielol5: When everyone was discussing counting excercise I thought "geez what about sex, is someone going to want to count that??" but I didnt say anything! HA :smilielol5:

Too Too funny I can just picture a husband sayign "what AGAIN?? OK and wifey saying come on I need 15 more minutes this week Ha ha ha

Unless you're doing some hardcore tantric sex, or maybe really getting into being on top for a considerable period of time, sex really doesn't burn that many calories.

So come on people--stop driving me nuts with all the does this or that count towards exercise!! We are all adults with brains. If you all spent as much time doing real exercise as you do bugging me with these questions, you wouldn't need to ask me!! :smilielol5:

I suppose if your heart rate is elevated 85% or higher you can count it. So don't forget to wear your heart monitor while you're getting it on. :leaving:
