MJ: Hah, I don't know why I agreed to race you, you lose weight WAY easier than I do (or more likely just work harder at it!). My own scale hasn't budged the last couple of days, I'm gonna have to step up the effort just to keep up!

Jess: I don't like the treadmill much either, but if you feel like you're getting nothing accomplished, try changing the display to show total calories burned, or calories burned per minute, whichever it has (some have both)... it may not be much, but at least I feel like I've dripped some fat out of myself, and also it kind of feels good to push your limits. Though, I really prefer the elipticals anyways because it just feels easier but I actually end up burning more calories! It helps too that the gym I go to has TVs on all the cardio machines to help the time go faster.

Awwe, Beag, you can keep up! lol

I think the reason I am losing faster this time around is because I'm drinking more water, exercising more, watching calories and a few little extra things that I read in my natural cures book about weight loss methods. I'll share a few with you.

1. Take Organic Apple Cider Vinegar (unpasturized) 2tsp mixed in 8oz water before each meal. It will help flush fat, and has been shown to actually remove fat cells from the body.

2. Take Digestive Enzymes before your meals. Helps break down proteins and carbs properly. Some people are running low on enzymes.

3. Get enough fiber, eat apples, or take some fiber daily. Helps lower cholesterol and keep your colon clean.

4. Do a colon cleanse. I feel a world better since I upped my fiber and started cleaning the pipes. My skin looks fabulous too.

5. Take a multi vitamin daily.

6. Take some organic Coconut Oil with each meal. Works wonders and benefits the colon.

Anyhow, those are just a few things I do to speed things up.

You're doing a great job! We'll get there together. ;)

Come on Bailey, you can give 'er a run for her money :D I sure am gonna try :p:D Hey, a friendly competition never hurt a soul! LOL

Hope t'day went well for ya ;)

Hey there, I was just poking through your diary (sounds so sneaky right?) and I really commend you on your South Beach work. I tried to do South Beach and ended up blacking out a couple of times in phase 1 and gave up. I should probably do it again, but I love fruit, and I don't think I can do without it again, plus there was the fainting... I like Miss Jelly's little tips though. I'm willing to try nearly anything, especially if it's got a "natural" label slapped on it. I'm trying to eliminate processed crap from my life right now. I say that having eaten (just a little) complete garbage grocery store chocolate cake today. Not much, but enough to gross myself out.

Hey, wait, this is YOUR diary. Sorry, I got distracted (this happens a lot). I hope you continue to do well on South beach. When you get past Phase 1 is it much easier? Does it work better than just keeping your calories in check? How many calories do you think you're getting in an average day? I know he says not to count, but sometimes I noticed you're counting anyway. Have a great weekend please!

I have a "modified" South Beach Diet. Phase one is still super-strict, and I'll admit its hard as heck, and I haven't been perfect on it, ever. But its only two weeks, and once its done its a lot easier, since fruit in general is recommended on the diet, but you have to cut it all out for the first bit.

Even though he says not to count calories, I do anyways, because I still incorporate carbs into the diet, and those can add up very quickly, so it helps to keep it under control. I will say, on a truly low-carb diet, there isn't any need to count calories, because fruit, veggies, and white meat are in general very low cal anyways, and you can fill up for relatively less food.

I better not get too arrogant yet. lol You two can still woop me. I told you my little secrets. hehe Hope they help!

I have been MIA for a while, just checking up on ya, looks like yor doing great. :)

Stooooooopid scale! Move, darn you!

Okay so "Strict Week" has basically been a bust, since I've gone over my carb limit 4 days this week. I've been under my calories all week, so it must be the carbs holding me back. I'm pretty disappointed that I can't even meet the goals I set for myself (and goals that I thought were pretty reasonable too!).

I just want to throw my hands in the air and give up sometimes on days like this... but I really have made it far up till now, over 25lbs lost, even if it has been over 6 months and not 3. This morning I just want a small box of smarties or something though...

Friday Totals:
Food:
- 2 granola bars: 260/36
- 2 oranges: 120/30
- 1.5 cups of boiled veggies with some cheese: 300/35
- tuna salad: 250/5
- peanut butter and honey sandwich: 400/40
Total: 1330/146

Water: 2.5L

Exercise: none.

Now, hold on a minute! According to extrapounds.com (which I'm using for my calculations), the veggies were 35 carbs for 1.5 cups of boiled, frozen veggies. That doesn't seem right, does it?? I thought veggies were a free ticket as far as carbs were concerned! It was mostly broccoli with some cauliflower and carrots mixed in for colour.

Hmmm...

Hey Beagle, I know carrots do have lots of carbs. Broccoli should be ok though. Not sure if you know this, but you can subtract the fiber grams from the total carbs to get your "net carbs." That should lower it a notch.

If it makes you feel any better, I though I'd reward my 20lb loss with some bean, rice, and cheese burritos this weekend. Carb city. My stomach is killing me right now from the jalapenos. ah. So no loss over the weekend and probably a day or two to get the excess carbs out of my system.

Tomorrow is a new day! Let's get on it.

Hi Beagle,

You have come along way, and I understand wanting to give up when you get stuck, but you can't. I've done that several times, and I'm lucky when I only gain a few pounds, but sometimes when I have given up in the past, it's thrown me back as much as 15 pounds. Don't give up what you've worked so hard for. Quitting doesn't just stop you where you are, it moves you backwards so you have to do it all over again. Keep marching forward. Even if it takes a long time, the minor improvements are just that, they're improvements. You can do that!

Thanks for the support girls :)

Now its time for a little bad news/good news: The bad news is I PUT ON a pound this week. I'm disappointed but not surprised - this "strict week" has been a sham, so I'm going to try again next week. The good news is that I lost over 5cm on my waist! I had to measure it twice to be sure, but it was correct!

I'm planning on doing one of the cleanses that MJ went on a while ago, and I kind of already half-assed started on it, maybe that's why my tummy went down so much? I'm going to do it for real though, and see if that helps :D

Ok Girl You Can Do This! And Get Working Them Trubo Jams They Are A Key To Your Success Start Using Them!!!!~

Hi ya Beagle Bailey :D Cleanses are great! Okay, so they aren't always fun, but they get a lot accomplished :D You may have gained a pound this week, but you lost cm's too so don't sweat it - just try harder this week :D You'll get there so don't give up! MP is right. A gain may put you up one or two pounds but giving up puts ya back at start.

Have a great day and kick butt! :D

Okay, my new "Strict Week" plan is going to be much less centered around food, since being absolutely restrictive with myself just isn't working (of course, I'm still following the calorie/carb guidelines, but I'm not trying to say "no sweets" to myself this time).

So, what I'm going to work on this week is EXERCISE. Last week I missed a workout and a half, plus I only did my ab jams once! That's just shameful since it seems that the workout is the most important part of losing weight, on so many levels - the raw calories burned while working out, the "afterburn", the mood enhancement, the metabolism boost from new muscles...

So I'll do my regular 3 cardio + 3 abs, and I'm going to try and squeeze in at least one or two "half" workouts before or after class now that I've started up again (by the way my teacher is so cute, but so boring!). Plus the cleanse, which reminds me, I need to go take some of that stuff! I think I'm subconsciously trying to forget because it tastes so gross :p

It looks like you have a good plan this week, im planning on doing more exercise this week as well. I have to organize myself better though.

With a such a good plan Beagle, you'll do great :D Hope today went well for ya and you kicked butt :D

Hey Beagle! You're plan sounds great. I'm on board with you. I haven't been exercising as much because I'm having to spend so much time studying. This week I will work on more cardio too. Bize is in the lead! We need to get caught up. hehe
