Weight-Loss Amazing Race Style Challenge

Weight-Loss
I paid 69 pence at Tescos for my cabbage. I thought that mine wasnt too expensive - more or less right - but I suspect that you both paid less than me.

Sure enough! According to this Calculator I found online you paid $1.39 for the cabbage. I bought two medium sized cabbages though (to make sure I had enough!) :D So I might have spent close to what you did. I should check my receipt...LOL

You picked the perfect week for a cabbage detor. It was on sale at my supermarket for 7 cents a lb. I got a nice big head for only 23 cents. I just cooked it up using a simple recipe I found online and I'm actually enjoying it (I never ate cabbage other then sauerkraut before). I might have found a new side dish to go with dinner thanks to you.

V.

That makes me happy. :D Since nearly everyone who's signed up is kinda old hat at my challenges, I don't think there's much left to do in the traditional way of bonuses. I mean most of you already know how much water you should be drinking, how much fiber, protien and sodium you should be eating, etc. So the roadblocks and detours are mainly geared towards experiencing or trying something new. That's part of the fun of international travel for me, so I thought I'd incorporate that into this challenge. I'm hoping that many of you will discover something new that you enjoy whether in the way of food or exercise. :) Oh, and there's that weight loss thing, too...:sifone: These challenges are good for making me exercise.

I will go out and buy some cabbage some time this week because my body will NOT allow me to try that awesome dance. lol. But I think I will like to try something new. This challenge should be a lot of fun

Got my head of cabbage today--49 cents a pound, so it came to $1.19. Now I have to cook it up. I can't complain about the bonuses b/c I'm the one who made them up. :biggrinjester:

Ok I boiled my cabbage today and made stir-fry, egg rolls, and hot and sour cabbage soup. It was delish! I used 2 heads of cabbage, so I'm sure I got in my "portion" as per the race rules. I also have lots of soup leftover, so I'll be sure to get in extra. And the food was really good. I used turkey sausage in place of the pork and beef that the recipes called for. For the egg rolls, I went totally veggie with them (since I was having enough meat in the other two dishes.) And, the cabbage didn't stink up my house too much either. Course everyone's digestive system seems to be on track! :D

Admit it you love boiled cabbage! :drool5:

Actually, I'm not a big fan of it. I don't hate it, but I certainly wouldn't eat even close to this much of it if it weren't for this challenge. :) Usually the only time I eat cabbage is in cole slaw or sauerkraut. I hate the smell of boiled cabbage. :ack2:

Yeah it smells a bit like cooked brussel sprouts.

So im proud of myself because I put down my exercise goal of 417mins for the challenege just to se how close I would get and if I could do it - not thinking I would...I have exercised 390 mins and will make the 417 mins myself - Im proud of that:)!!!

Chicago to Moscow 12hrs 50min.[/B] This averages out to 4hrs 17min of exercise per person.

Cinderelly, congrats on the (almost) 417 of exercise... you are one productive woman! But I was wondering if the 417 minutes was a personal goal or if you thought it was 417 mins for the challenge?

Oh ya it was a personal challenege:) - I usually aim for 300 as a goal...but i was also think the challanege was mins and not grs geeesh - Ive been a little stressed and distracted lately but it was a perrsonal challenege - LOL!!!

Week 2 Roadblock

Week 2—Moscow to Rio de Janeiro Travel time: 16hrs 45min. That's 5hrs 35min for each team member if split up evenly.

Roadblock: One person from each team must have plastic surgery (your choice as to what you have done), and then don a Brazilian thong bikini and spend a day sunbathing topless at the beach. Please post photos to prove you completed the roadblock. Ah, I crack myself up. :smilielol5:

Actually, the roadblock is to do the Capoeira videos below. Capoeira is a Brazilian combination of martial arts and dance. One team member must watch the first 3 videos and follow along with the next 4 videos once during the week. You don't have to do the moves perfectly, but do the best you can as you follow along. You can do all 15 videos if you like, but only the first 7 are required.

Please keep in mind that Thursday the 13th is the last day to eat your cabbage and get in your week 1 exercise. You can use Thursday or Friday's weight for you weigh in, and all teams must have updated their detour, exercise and weight info by midnight EDT (GMT -4hrs). Otherwise, your team may be eliminated.

It looks like fun!
Though I don't have the coordination to do regular aerobics! So this may look interesting before it is all said and done. LOL
And great job finding such an interesting Roadblock. Your really doing your homework on this challenge!

Once again Kim is super creative! I am not very happy with the length of the exrcises this week but I know I will see good results after the hard work :)

Good luck to everyone! I am reading secretly how all the teams are doing... :smilielol5:

If you're offering to pay for it, I'll have my passport out, my bikini purchased and at the airport in about two hours... PM me for details... I like to fly business class:)

Yah, I'm the same way..lol. I think we should pass this one off to Margaret. :sifone:

I'm glad everyone likes this one..lol. I DID have to do a lot of homework to find it. Remember--only one person per team has to do the roadblocks.

5 hours and 35 mins!!! good job i'm not on placement!!!

the roadblock looks fun - i think i'll enjoy that.

x

You don't have to split the exercise evenly--if you have a teamie who ordinarily does more than that, they can do up to 50% of the exercise.
