Ali Bee's Weight Loss Journal

Hide that &$%# scale!
You're just going to get down because of water weight. If you hide it
never look at it (except Wednesdays) - you'll see a better difference that way.
Think of it this way.. I am super pumped because I held off checking my weight until tomorrow morning - now it's like Christmas.. plus it makes me work harder! I think that I want to see the biggest change so I work my best and then before you know it - it's 'weigh day'!
Just run out of the bathroom as fast as you can next time you think of your scale. Unless your mid-pee...

Hehe thanks for the advice elizab3th. I'll try to hide the scale. One question that I'm always confused though, what if I've gaiend a lot of water weight on the Wednesday I go to weigh myself? I guess I just won't know until the next week when I lose most of it. I think I'm just going to get myself a body fat monitor thingy.

maybe instead of weighing yourself - measure yourself like you were doing before.. i mean a scale won't tell you much other than your weight.. not what's muscle - what's water - what's lost... a body fat thingy would be good. Do you make sure you drink lots of water?

I measure myself once a week and that I stick to. The problem is, I gain muscle too, so I haven't been losing very many inches. I maybe lose an average of 1 inch or 2 inches a week. I really want to get a body fat calculator. That'll be fun. I drink at least 5 glasses of water a day, sometimes up to 8.

Drink 8 glasses then. Haha - sorry to be pushy, drinking lots and lots of water is really good for you; it flushes out your system(toxins, etc.), raises your maximum fat-burning potential and it is a natural appetite suppresor. It'll also keep your from bloating. You shouldn't be eating foods that are too high in sodium.. really - our bodies only need like waaaayy under 1000g of sodium but because of foods these days are pre-packaged and proccessed then they contains tons more and sodium holds in water. That's what will make you wake up feeling like a balloon. I know how much it suck but I drink atleast 6 big bottles of water which are about 10oz each. I don't eat after 8pm either. This way you wake up raedy for a nice breakfast plus you're not bloated because you didn't just eat before you went to bed and all the water you've been drinking has been flushing out your system... keeping your digestion working smoothly. It really makes a big difference.

Morning Ali,
I agree with elizab3th. Just hide that evil devil of a scale, untill you weigh yourself weekly. And if you still are retaining water then you might wanna cut back on the salt.(I think that's what does it). The measure part is a great idea. And as long as you are gaining muscle and you feel and see the difference then it don't matter what the scale says. So good luck to you and you are diong just fine

I try to drink lots of water, I really do! Hehe! I probably drink about 6 glasses plus two big glasses of Crystal Light. What kind of foods have sodium? I dont think I eat a lot of them anyway. Hehe! I never eat within 3 hours of going to sleep, so that's not much of a problem. Thanks for the advice! Hopefully it helps! :)

Good mornining to you too jelly belly88! The scale has been hidden. I took it to the other bathroom where I never go, so it won't tempt me. I don't think I eat a whole lot of salt or salty foods. I'll try to watch that though and see if I actually do. I can definately feel a difference! I don't get out of breath as easily and I feel so much stronger. Thanks for the advice as well! I'll keep you guys updated.

Oh it' not the salt you put onj your foods - it's the sodium that's in them.. you'd never know! It's the invisible culprit! Open up your fridge, *with care* haha.. and just take a look at the nutritional information and check out the sodium... our bodies really should only be having about 500mg a day.. but because of whats in our foods we eat atleast 1500mg per day.. I do and that's when I'm cutting down on them!!! Now back away from the fridge.... no snacking! Haha.. just kidding..

Oooohhh! Hehe! I didn't know that. I've been looking through a lot of foods that I usually eat and they don't have much sodium...if any. Haha! Don't worry about snacking. I'm participating in a 30 hour famine at my church in a month to raise money for World Vision. So I've been practicing not eating for a lil while. Today I didn't eat for 12 hours, and then ended it with a very healthy feast of some veggies, a little bit of grains, some milk and I drank tons of water during my little "mock" famine. I'm trying to make my stomach shrink a little bit too. I've been eating smaller, more frequent meals. :) Hopefully it works and I can get through the 30 hour famine without dying.

Water - yay! :D You have to double your water intake if you're not eating for long periods at a time like that - for your kidney's sake. That's a good idea, I just did a juice fast the other day for 36 hours... the really important thing is to eat lowfat food afterwards because your body is going to want to store everything you feed it now for a while since you've put it into 'survival mode'. It felt great for me though! That'll help you with your water weight!!!

Oh definately! When I fast I drink a glass of water every half an hour because I'd die of starvation if I didn't! Hehe! Oooh, really? I'll have to remember to eat non-fatty foods after the 30 hour famine. Thanks!

WOAH BABY! I'm SO pumped and excited! I just biked for 30 minutes on my cycle...about 13km. I'm so ready to do this! I love working out! It leaves me feeling amazingly hyper and happy and accepting of my own body. The more I workout, the better my self esteem gets. I love it! I'm so going to start biking more often. At LEAST 10km a day. I feel super psyched! Woah I never knew just 30min on a bike can make me feel this pumped. Size 8 pants...HERE I COME! Good-bye 10s!

Mood: Pump it louder! Pump it LOUDER!!! Haha!
Food Craving: Whatever my sister is frying; it smells amazing!
Drink Craving: More water, more water!
Last Food Eaten: Apples and peanut butter...mmm!
Goal Seems Reasonable: Not unless I can lose 3 pounds overnight! But I'm almost 100% sure its water weight...so I'm TOTALLY cool with it!

Weight: 159lbs
Hours Spent Workout Today: I biked 13km (8.08miles) on my bike at a high resistance level.

Hey - I biked today too.. I know what you mean, befor eI started this I felt really depressed all the time but now I actually can accept my jigglies cause I know they ain't stayin there for long! HAHA... way to go girl!

Your doing a great job- don't worry bout those three lbs of water weight~ most peoples bodies fluctuate around 5 lbs up or down at any given time... yeah, it sucks, but it will go away!! Keep it up, especially your cardio(I've been not doing as much as I should be lol) :)

Mood: Somewhat disappointed because I missed my goal by 4lbs. I should have been able to do it! My body doesn't like losing weight very much. This sucks!
Food Craving: Definately nothing
Drink Craving: Water probably, but I dont even feel like drinking that
Last Food Eaten: Nothing
Goal Seems Reasonable: Well...considering I didn't even meet my goal-->NO!

Weight: 159lbs
Hours Spent Workout Today: None yet, just woke up, plan on bowling today and powerwalking while I shop.

Trying is the first step towards failure. I have tried and I have failed. I will pick myself up in time...as for now, I have just eaten 3 cookies and a big piece of cake. And the depression slowly sits in. This sucks!

How can the depression be setting in when you've got a wacky bee smilin' at you like that? I'm just kidding - I really want you to feel better, I know how much bad days can suck but the real test is being able to pick yourself up from them and get goin'. Tomorrow is a new day! A GREAT DAY! I hope you have an awesome day tomorrow - and you can make it one girl! So whether you've woken up with a smile on your face or you're still feeling down... walk to the bathroom, make some messed up faces until you crack up laughing (hee hee), then say 'SMARTEN UP!' - this day will be great, you can do it girl and you are going to lose the weight. It will take a while, nothing ever comes overnight but you have to accept that and work hard for your goal and it will be achieved. The way I see it is you could get down, give up and then 3 months from now you'll still be in a funk - OR you could get your butt movin', start feeling great about yourself and in 3 months from now you'll be smaller than you were today that's for sure! You are worth every effort you put into this.. you are doing great - give yourself a pat on the back. I really think you have it in you to do this! You can - you nkow you can.. cheer up, lift your head up and make this a great day for yourself.
:) Smile.
