A new 12 weeks

Week 9/Day 2-Tues

Jonathan's wife got called in and it was to cold for him to bring the kids out so we didn't get to meet up and considering the Y's ground was a bit on the muddy and wet side...we skipped the group throwing in lieu for possibly Thursday or Friday and Sat.

A)Psnatch[1]+OH squat:140X10, 160X8, 170X5, 180X5
B)zercher squat:200X10, 240X6X2
C)Psnatch[1]+walking bb lunges:140X22 stepsX2
D)25 pd plate throws (mock Braemar stone):10 throws

Goal for next week: pick up some more weight plates, go to hardware store and get chains and bolts, and construct a 42# and 28# that I can use for home practice for weight for height and distance.

We have this new guy at work; his name is Henry. He asked if he could workout with me as it's been about six months since he's touched a weight and typically just used machines. He kept up with me on the movements (with a much lower weight)...I bet his legs will feel good tomorrow.

These two pics are the 56# for distance. The 42 and 28 look the same but the lead ball attached to the chain weighs less. In my weight class, the 42 is heavy and 28 is light. The basic idea is to swing it around and throw it as far as you can; whoever throws it the farthest wins the event.

And see, the sport isn't just for guys...chicks that compete in this are hawt in my book

Okay this may sound stupid, but I'll say it anyway. Obviously it takes strength and balance to make these throws, but I think sometimes people don't realize how much coordination is involved.

Good point. It requires a lot of coordination to compete in the Highland Games.
Here's a sheaf toss, as you can see, it requires a whole body to work together.

And, of course, the notorious caber toss. You can't not be uncoordinated, get it up, run with it, and toss it. I think this caber is about 90 pounds and 17.5 feet tall.

Umm...do you have to wear those dresses? :p
Ha1 Yeah, if we want to compete, we have to put on the kilt. I look damn sexy in mine.;) Typically most contestants will try and wear the kilt pattern that represents their family but they can be quite expensive, so some of us just use what we can afford.

Yes, and by scary you really mean strong. And when you say strong, you really mean hawt. And when you say hawt, you really mean impressive.:D
Hmm.. I guess, I could, maybe say that? LoL, you wear a mini-kilt don't ya? :D

Well, it's only a mini because I'm short compared to most of the competitors. Besides, how else am I supposed to show off my uber nice legs?

EVO Where are the pic's??????? Don't disappoint me now!! ;)

I think we're throwing either tomorrow or on Sat and I'll get pics then (but it won't be in a kilt. I might take a pic of me in my kilt just for you though). Oklahoma's really weird. We went from being in the 80s, the next day it was in the 30s, the next day it rained, and then it snowed yesterday. Today it's back into the 60s.

Anyway, met up with Jonesy and went over to Tyler's garage gym.

Week 9/Day 3-Thurs
A)Clean[1]+Push press:135X15, 155X12, 175X10, 185X9, 205X5 <--PR:)
B)Pendlay row:155X12, 175X12, 185X10, 205X7 <--PR:)
C)bench:205X12, 225X10X2
D1)bb rev curl:80X8X8
D2)skull crushers:100X8X8
D3)1 arm face pulls:60X10X8 (each arm)
