Wow you don't already use one?! I won't workout unless I've got mine, kinda keeps me focused.. Those are really good dead numbers..

No, I used to use the university gym and they had heavy rock or metal playing all the time, so it wasn't a big deal. I just started lifting in the athletic training center at the high school I'm student teaching at and with my already shortened training time, I don't have time to go and unlock the office, locate the stereo, turn it on, go back and turn it off...etc etc...I'll quit whining now.:)

Thanks for the numbers kuddos. The bar felt a bit heavier which I think was attributed to me having to rush more than I usually do today....15 minutes, get in and get out. HAHA...I almost feel like superman running into the gym, ripping my teaching clothes off, lifting, and then putting my slacks back on and flying back in to discuss The Canterbury Tales.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow night when I get to toss the caber and the sheaf and stuff.

Haha, if I was a kid in your class I would never talk.. Man I'd love to work out @ your gym, they have what seems to be Celine Dion techno remixes playing like ALL the time, unless I go in around 2 or 3am when this huggge white guy is working and he turns on some rock..

Sheesh, you and thrown stuff..

Hey Evo really nice dead numbers..LOL I hear ya on the mp3, my gym plays nothing, so I got an mp3 player for that reason, and for self presrevation....have fun throwing :D

It makes me feel primal. ;) Bro, if you lived close enough I'd invite ya' along...I'd place my money that you'd love it.

I kinda miss seeing the same old faces and workin in the same old power rack that I worked in...it was like this special 1 year relationship that I had with this same rack several times a week. --sigh--
HOWEVER
The new gym encourages throwing because they have platforms and rubber padded flooring and I get the place all to myself. Not to mention they have a GHR/back extension machine.

Week 4/Day 4-Thurs
**events day**
A)No approach Braemar stone:8 throws
--Need to really get down and pop up for this one
B)sheaf toss:8 pitches
--Need to pop the fork a bit more...height and speed stayed good on this one
C)caber toss:4 attempts-2 completions, 1 missed, and 1 dropped

*Later that evening*
45 min Kenpo-worked on reversals from the ground and striking combinations.

I'm tired...have a 4 day weekend.:)

Thanks, Jenn. I'm going to start working deadlift back into my program on a semi-regular basis.

I was frustrated because I've pulled near mid 400s before. I stopped deadlifting for quite awhile when I went on a nearly pure Oly lifting program. Typically I've seen most trainees able to raise their dead numbers by cleaning more but I've found that in order to DL more I need to DL more.

The weather has finally cleaned itself up so we can throw again...something about throwing heavy implements on slick/muddy ground isn't a wise idea.:D

Week 5/Day 4-Sat

Early afternoon-
2 hours MMA

Late afternoon-
A1)tire flips:5 sets 8 flips
A2)keg throws:5X5

B)farmers walks:100 each hand; 4 walks ~260ish steps total

Tried to round this day up a bit to late and was only able to get Jonesy over. Looks like from now on though I'll have Clint, Jonesy, Rob, Tom, Tyler, and Jonathan joining in on this Sat fun.

B2)bb step ups:110X15X2

It's not immensely heavy; it weighs about 419 pounds. I need a bigger one.

Got mine from the Michelin dealership that deals with tractors and trucks. They should have one in every city and they'll give them away for free so they don't have to haul the old ones off.

Week 6/Day 2-Fri

Haven't gotten much in the way of workouts this week but some weeks just fall this way. Had a high rep day (non-super intensive) today since tomorrow we'll be working with the tire and keg and some throwin implements.:)

A)power clean [1]+press:100X20, 130X12, 150X10
B)snatch grip high pulls:180X8X2
C)hang clean [1]+zercher squat:180X10X2

I think this is the 2nd or 3rd time I've ever played with the Zercher squat and it's quite interesting. I think I'll keep it in the routine...I think it'll have some carry over to the caber toss.

Awww Evo I soo want to come work out with you.. those tire flips look like they would be sooooo much fun!! Glad to see I'm not the only one that has been so busy that workouts have been hard to fit in. Keep it up Evo things are looking great.. except your deadlift prob's. better luck on those , just need to get back into the groove. :D
