20lbs or less club

:):) :) :) Congrats Anna...:) :) You and hubby must be so excited! Of course nine months from now all the current members of "20 lbs or less" brigade will be so fit and fabulous and downright hot that we'll be off touring with PussyCat Dolls....(unless pregnacy is "catching"...in which case I'll track you down!):)

And speaking of a little occurance you won't have to deal with for nine months....I discovered last night that a tablespoon of pure baker's cocoa mixed with 2 tablespoons of sf/ff choc. pudding and a 1/2 cup of plain yogurt tastes like a thick, melted candy bar:p and chases away the monthly "give me chocolate" cravings for under 100 cals.

Cym-sounds yummy!

Congrats Anna:) :) :)

mmmmm...I'll have to try that chocolate fix cym :p

I'm thinking of trying the special K diet?? Any of you know anything about it? Pros/Cons?

This is an interesting review on the special K diet. Basically eating fewer calories WILL make you lose weight. Cereal does have less calories than what people usually eat for lunch or dinner but if you eat well you should be able to eat a variety of things... that said I love having all-bran and skim milk for breakfast because it's low calorie and filling.

The Special K diet will probably make you lose weight, but I would rather stick with a variety of healthy foods. I don't know how permanently the weight would stay off once you started eating meals again.

The special K diet, hmm...
So you eat 1 bowl for breakfast, 1 for lunch and have a balanced meal for tea?
The thing is im guessing special K quote a 'serving' as around 30g. You try weighing out 30g of special K, its less then you think. So not only could this diet leave you feeling hungry but also might be quite hard to stick to if you're measureing by eye. Also I think I read that you have to have a BMI over a certain level to begin with to get the sort of results they talk about.
Anyways, I might be wrong so anybody feel free to correct me if I am!

Hey all! Happy first day of spring.
I was just wondering how you got your diet ticker's to have the right BMI? Mine shows up as 11, which would make me a stick LOL. It doesn't have a male/female option but it must be assuming male because no woman has a BMI of 11.
Thanks.

freshman15: You could try comparing the BMI the ticker gave you with one of the other calculators out there on the Interent, see if they agree lol.

Im feeling a little down :( its coursework time and I can tell you tired+stressed really is not good for the diet. Night before last we were out visiting family, hadnt eaten, and I was already tired but we wouldnt be home for hours. So when my boyfriend says: "shall we order pizza?" I really didnt stand a chance, Ive never seen half a large stuffed crust pepperoni feast with extra chicken pizza dissapear so fast! Thing is, I wolfed it down so quick I didnt even give myself chance to enjoy what I was eating! *sigh*
Well at the begining of 'coursework time' I had just managed to get down to 10stone (im either 5ft 6" or 5ft 7", we'r not sure!), and I told myself id be happy just to maintain that until all this work is out the way. But I was delighted to find I actually dropped 2lbs, which has come right back as of this morning, hence this little rant.
Anyways, ive been pretty good during breakfast / lunch times lately, but in the evenings im so tired I just cant seem to make the right choices, what can I do?

Anna!!

Congrats on your pregnancy!! That's a wonderful surprise.

Sorry I haven't been on here as much. I'm on spring break now and just trying to get some things done around here. I haven't made anymore progress, but just trying to think long-term... even though short-term fixes are appealing to me right now. I know "dieting" won't last.

I wish I could suggest something...I do the SAME thing...I get stressed and I'm tired...and after work all I want to do is plop on the couch and grub...I decided that going to the gym right after work might help...and it has...I bust my butt from 5-6/7ish in the gym so by the time I get home I dont have time to plop down on the couch, I only have time to change out my gym bag for the next day, let the dog out, open mail, grab a bowl of cereal or something else that is quick to fix and then hit the bed....when I was in college I would study until the wee hours of the night and thats when I would find myself snacking...maybe take a break during your studying and go for a run or a brisk walk and then get back to studying and it will help keep your mind off of food........lol, look here I am suggesting things and I'm no pro...good luck though, let me know what you find works for you, I'll give it a shot too, lol.

Ugh-so I bought these new face wipes to wash my face with after work before I hit the gym....and I must be allergic to them!!! Yesterday and today both my face has swollen, itchy, red, and burning!! I couldnt figure out yesterday what could have caused the reaction...so once again last night I used the face wipes again...this morning...my face is WORSE!! So I think I'm pretty sure its the wipes....yikes!!! So I took benedryl and now I'm sitting at my desk about to pass out, I'm so tired....I couldnt sleep last night b/c if my face touched the bed or pillow it started to itch...so I know that contributes to my tired state of mind. I find that eating keeps me awake...so I've been snacking on almonds and raisins...but even that adds up in the calorie department so I finally had to break down and get a cup of coffee and put the snacks away...I dont drink coffee either...just water, v8juice and skim milk....I'm still stuck in this 135lb rutt and want to loose another 10lbs...but at this rate I'm going to stay here...what to do what to do....I do have a pilates class tonight...yay. Why is it so hard for us to loose weight once we've gotten down to a certain size? I'm mixing my routine up and eating healthy....**Sigh**

Lynnz and Halo:

For me, I find it is all about schedule and discipline. I plan out all my food in advance, schedule my meals, schedule my workouts etc. I just wake up that morning and know exactly what I am going to eat all day and that's what I eat. I have a planned structured workout, and that's what I do. It is simple, but takes some dedication and prep work. I've been doing it for 7 weeks now and it is just habit now. I know it is harsh, but the best way is to just do it. If you don't wanna exercise, tough, do it anyway and go hard. If you want chocolate, tough, don't eat it. This is just what has been working for me though...

Jennay (as usual) has just said exactly what I was gonna say. :)

For me it's working nights that leave me coming home, tired, stressed and hungry. Since this isn't going to change anytime soon I just had to start making sure that quick but reasonable calorie and nutritious food was always available, and of course, doing the prep work to make it happen.

Same with working out. I do it six days a week and goodness knows that I don't feel like every single morning...but unless I have a fever or am bleeding from the ears or have a broken bone....I just grab myself by the scruff of the neck and go do it anyway. Truthfully, I've never had a work-out I regetted doing...but I know if I don't do it I'll regret it.

Hey-I like the way you think!!! I'm going to start following your posts around, youve got the determination I like!! :) :) How many calories a day do you plan for?

Depends on what I am doing that day... here is what I go from:
between 1500-1600 with 50% P, 20% F, and 30% C on weight training days
between 1400-1450 with 50% P, 25% F, and 25% C on cardio days
between 1300-1350 with 55% P, 25% F, and 20% C on rest days

You can check out my W-L Diary if you want exactly what I eat day in and day out, I post every day. It is linked in my siggy. I just changed up my macro percents to be a little more low carb and am adding low intensity intervals on Saturdays, so the beginning of my diary will show what I was doing, while the last two days and forward will show the breakdown I listed here. You can always PM me if you need a pep talk, food idea, etc.

stupid twenty pounds!

hello everyone...
i've been reading your posts and i feel inspired by all of you! for the last..i'd say five years i've been wanting to lose about twenty pounds. i know that i'm not fat, i just have a stomach that jiggles when i walk and i hate it! i take yoga, i'm a vegetarian but recently started eating fish for the protein, and i try and eat as healthy as possible and i just can't seem to lose the weight! it's been bothering me all through college, all through high school really. i just don't know what else to do...whether i excersise five days a week or three it never seems to matter. i'm thinking maybe if i talk to other people who are having sucess maybe i can get motivated to change the things that need to change.

i know one thing i do which stunts my progress is eating late at night. even if it's a healthy snack (i like sprout sandwiches) i'm still eating sometimes at 2 in the morning b/c that's when i get off work. i know that this is a major problem, its just so hard not to come home after a rough night and go right to bed sometimes.

i also have had some trouble getting to the gym lately. working out is definately part of my life and always will be, but i've been going easy on myself lately b/c i'm so tired from working so much. i love to dance, i go to yoga at least once a week and i've been taking long walks with my friend recently...but its much less then what i used to do. for a whole month i went to the gym every day and i felt great! but even though i know i'll feel good, i can't force myself to go most days anymore. i need help! does anyone have any inspiring words for me to get me off my ass and keep the food out of my mouth after work? Thanks!!

Hey all, thnx for the advice!
I do quite well when I can stick to a schedule, unfortunatly that rather goes out the window if I find myself staying at University till silly hours, troble with coursework is sometimes you dont know how long it will take and if a deadline is coming up youve just got to sit there till its done...
Regardless Ive done better today, and it was pretty much back to my normal schedule lol :D
