20lbs or less club

ack... i haven't been on here forever!

I've been maintaining my weight really well... but unfortunately haven't lost anything.

still getting to the gym and running, or now that it is nice outside, I went for a jog around the neighborhood... I need to do better with my food and eating however. less fast food, more fruit and vegetables. My biggest problem is my fiance - who LOVES fast food and hates fruit and vegetables.... I just need to buy it and make it for myself I guess

I just realized I could actually join this club...

Wait, unless I get to my goal and realize I need to change it ;)

Maybe I should wait!

Hi, courage to be ! Sounds like your doing great (and Hawaii is coming right on up - I'm jealous!!) My husband used to be the same way, but he's coming around to veggies. His meals are still way more exciting than mine, but at least some green stuff disappears off his plate once in a while now :) I agree, get your own stuff and stick to your guns. Easy for me to say... as you know, eating 2 dinners has been my downfall lately (eating my healthy one and his wilder one). Tonight worked though! I ate a decent-sized healthy meal when I was hungry (6:30) and just had a salad and green beans with him. So I was social but didn't totally blow my diet. Thanks guys for all your great suggestions!

M2M, welcome! I say join the club, meet your first goal, then set another one. Why not, right? And freshman15, welcome back! This group really is great for motivation. This smoothie thing really does sound delicious. I am totally getting the ingredients at the next trip to the grocery! Also, might I add that I thought school was the hardest time to eat healthy. I admire you guys who are full-time students and so dedicated to eating well. I wish I had been!

Hi all, been away for a few days. University has been crazy, its always like this at the end of term!
freshmen15: Sorry for stealing your smoothie lol! Good luck with your exams and such, I can sympathise.
Courage2b: wellcome back! My boyfriend used to be just the same but some determination is bringing him around and now he goes to the gym and even fit back into a shirt he hasnt worn for years (yay!)
Anna: Congrats on finding a solution :)

Just thought I'd say "happy St Paddy's Day"...hope the week-end is great for everyone!

P.s., stay away from short men wearing pointed shoes, floppy hats, suspenders and bearing mugs of green beer:eek:

beginning to rethink my goal weight....

I am 5'6" and 136.6 pounds right now. I started on Jan 6th of this year at 154.4 so I've done well so far. My original goal was to get back to 122 which is where I was about 2 years ago. No one told me I was too thin then but now when I mention getting back to there a few people have told me that I was too thin then. I'm starting to rethink this and think that maybe 130 or so would be a better weight.

Honestly I'm very happy where I am now. I do still have some fat that I would love to get rid of but I feel so much better than I did a couple of months ago.

I used to go shopping and leave with nothing and in tears, literally. Now I go shopping and find lots of things that I want and my pocket book shows it! LOL

I'm to the point right now that I know I will lose slowly and I'm okay with that as long as I do see some progress from my hard work. A pound a week is fine with me or maybe even a little less is okay.

I'm getting around 1200 calories on an average day and my workout schedule is like this....

Monday an hour legs toning class and then sometimes a 4 mile walk with a friend if we have time.

Tuesday an hour step class and then about 30 minutes or so of upper body weights and then a 2.5 mile run that night

Wednesday an hour arms class and then a 4 mile walk if have time

Thursday an hour step class and then about 30 minutes of leg weights and then possibly a 4 mile walk or 2.5 mile run later

Friday sometimes I skip the gym. Most of the time I go though and class varies on this day but I usually get another 4 mile walk in.

Hi guys!

Hi guys!
Cym, thank you so much for the reminder and warning... You are too funny (and very wise)!
Halo, I hope things are going ok at the end of term. I hope you do well on both your exams and your health goals!
CaseyAtMartin, YOU GO GIRL!!!!! You are rockin it out, setting the bar. I love to see that kind of progress!
And kdkenn, that sounds like a great idea to review your goal. I have a friend about those measurements (5'6" and 120) and she looks a little scary, I have to admit... she would look worlds better if she were 5-10 lbs heavier, but as it is she just looks bony and hungry. But everyone looks different at different weights even with the same BMI, you know? I think if you feel good trying on clothes, then you have arrived! That is always the litmus test for me! As it is, the last time I went shopping was in the fall of 2006 and it was to buy big girl clothes!
Hope you all had a great weekend. Tomorrow is the day I find out if I met my mini-goal. I have a dr's appt tomorrow and I'm hoping to be 118 on their scale. I have been not such a stellar eater/exerciser lately, but a girl can still hope!:D

I'm in, finally! My goal right now is to lose 14 more lbs, we'll see when I get there if that's the end or not.

Now I'm off to read the thread and get to know who's all here!

Hey everybody! I haven't been doing so great diet wise. My boyfriends parents have been in town and so we have eaten out a couple of times and his mom has been making dinner. I don't think I lost another pound like I wanted but I will get back on track this week. I have about 11lbs to go. My mother keeps telling me that I can't lose my love handles even if I lose weight. I never had them when I was thinner so I don't see why not. I know you need to cut carbs and do cardio to lose belly fat. I do cardio for 30 minutes 4-5 times a week and I strength train 4 days a week. I try to keep my carbs down but it is hard. How many carbs should I have day to get rid of belly fat. I can't do a no carb diet because I am so active.

Also, I burn about 350-400 cals at the gym so do I deduct that from my daily calorie intake. I am only supposed to have 1500cals a day to lose a pound a week.
Thanks for the help.

loriteresa - Nothing like parents/inlaws to slow down a diet! It sounds like you're doing great though overall. I think you can totally lose those love handles you say you have. I'm afraid I don't know anything about carbs, but I lost my love handles (ah the memories...) 2 years ago (pre-baby) with a moderate amt of cardio (45 min, 5x/wk), healthy eating (I was doing South Beach-ish) and abs class. Do you have an abs class at your gym? Ours was 30 min of solid, crazy abs work 2x/week and it did the trick! If life weren't so different these days, I'd hop back onto that regimen asap!
And kdkenn, I hope I didn't make it sound like I think you are bony or scary looking at 120! Ack! I'm so sorry if I made it sound like that. I am sure you look fantastic. I just meant that my friend looked too skinny at that wt/ht. Like I said, everyone looks different at different weights even with the same BMI. I just wanted to make sure that came across ok? I think your exercise/eating plan sounds great. Lots of fun and different stuff.
Welcome, dariqueen!

I know what you mean. Two people the same height and weight can look totally different. My bone structure is smaller so I don't think I look "sick" at that weight but I'm sure some do if they have larger bone structure. I still think that's going to be too skinny for me though. I'll know when I get there. Actually I'm very happy where I am at right now. I think maybe 5 more pounds or so.

Hey guys-

I would love to join you :) I'm 5'7 135lbs. I just need to get firm and healthy. I'm working on getting to 125lbs. I've been trying to read all of the post from the beginning...youre all such great inspirations and offer such great advice....hope you dont mind if I jump in with you :)

News...

Kdkenn, Thanks for your post! Phew! Sometimes things come across funny in the written form - so glad you knew what I meant! That sounds like a great new goal. And may I echo nearly everyone's initial welcome to you back when you joined that I would kill for those legs!!!

And welcome, LynnZ, this group is great, you're going to love it!

And now for my news... I was not 118 at my dr's visit, I was 120. Oh well. The reason is good though... I am pregnant! Hooray! My husband and I were worried we might not be able to get pregnant again. But here we are, accidentally pregnant - hooray! So, I am bummed out that I started this pregnancy 13 lbs up from where I was before my first pregnancy, but you know what, I am so excited to be pregnant that I really don't care! I can lose it after the next one. Hopefully this pregnancy will go much better than my last one, so that once the baby comes things are not as challenging around here as they have been.
I'm really sad to have to leave this forum, even if the reason is an exciting one. I'm sure you all will have long since met your goals 9 months from now, but I'll definitely be hoping there's a forum like this still going around that time. I hope it's ok if I still check in and see how everyone's doing? I'm psyched everyone's made so much progress since I've joined at the end of January!

xxoo,
Anna

Congratulations! That's a great reason, of course! :) :)
